AoA, hope ramzan's treating you all well.
Like the title says, this post is about my experience with PKship after a friend asked me if they were legit. I decided to order something small to test them out, and here are my impressions.
Summary: Their stated delivery time of 4-8 days is accurate. The process of ordering was straightforward. Staff are nice (for the most part). Would order again. Overall: 8.5/10. (Would've been 9.5/10 if not for the inconsistency in quoting the prices).
Long version:
Alright, so there was a small collectors' item on Amazon I wanted, pretty cheap (10 USD) so I thought I'd ask PKship how much they'd charge for it. The item's listed shipping weight on Amazon was 82 grams. While waiting for their reply, I went ahead and ordered the product to the mailbox address they give you in the US since the item was already so cheap, I figured "how expensive can it be?". So, I rounded that off to 100 grams and calculated how much they'd charge me. I came to the conclusion they'd charge me:
1 USD (handling charges) + 4 USD (minimum shipment charges) + 3 USD shipment charges (by weight, since they say they charge you ONLY for your item's weight) + 1 or 2 USD for the customs (if any) = So, roughly 1000 rupees.
When they replied, they quoted me a price of 2500 rupees (EXCLUDING the item's price). As in, 2500 rupees JUST to get the item here. Upon asking for a breakdown of the price (since it was inconsistent with what their website had led me to believe), I was told that my item's shipping weight was more than the 80 grams listed on Amazon and that "Sir, it's coming from USA, and in 8 business days" (like I didn't know...). Then they said they'd give me a "smart discount". Upon inquiring what that "smart discount" would bring the price to, they said 1800. That seemed a little more reasonable, but still way out of the range I'd estimated. At that point, since I'd already ordered the item, there wasn't much else I could do so I agreed to it and made up my mind to leave a review about them to notify others about the inaccuracy of the information mentioned on their website.
A day later, they received my item in their facility in the US and notified me of it on Facebook, since that's where I'd asked them for the quote.
Another day passed and I woke up to an SMS from PKship detailing the status of my order and that its records had been created. This message contained a pleasant surprise. Instead of the 1800 rupees that I was told that I'd be charged, the details listed that the PKship charges that I'd have to pay were about 1200 rupees. Now that is roughly the amount I was expecting to be charged according to their website, and while I appreciate that eventually I was charged the amount that they've listed on their website, what worries me is that there really isn't a guarantee that they'll charge you in line with their website's specifications. If I hadn't placed my Amazon order before they quoted me the price of 2500, and then 1800 rupees, I probably wouldn't have gone ahead with using their service, so if someone from PKship is reading this, this is one aspect that could be handled better. Accurate estimations of the price the customer has to pay go a long way towards building trust between the customer and the company. This inaccuracy, to me, was the only bad part of dealing with them.
I received daily SMS updates regarding my order, which was very nice. Below, I'll detail the timeline of my order:
June 22nd - Order placed on Amazon
June 23rd - Order shipped from Amazon
June 24th - Order received at PKship facility
June 27th - Package departed the US
June 28th - Package in customs at Lahore airport
June 28th - Shipped to Peshawar via Blue-Ex
June 29th - Package received by me in Peshawar.
The package contained a complimentary PKship pen in addition to my product
All in all, it was a great experience with PKship, and I especially liked the fact that they held true to their 4-8 business days delivery promise. I thought I'd post my thoughts on them since I didn't know about them yet and I thought Pakgamers members might benefit from it. So, if you do decide to go with them, make sure to get an accurate estimate of what you'll be charged, other than that, I think they're pretty legitimate.
