AoA, hope ramzan's treating you all well.

Like the title says, this post is about my experience with PKship after a friend asked me if they were legit. I decided to order something small to test them out, and here are my impressions.

Summary: Their stated delivery time of 4-8 days is accurate. The process of ordering was straightforward. Staff are nice (for the most part). Would order again. Overall: 8.5/10. (Would've been 9.5/10 if not for the inconsistency in quoting the prices).

Long version:
Alright, so there was a small collectors' item on Amazon I wanted, pretty cheap (10 USD) so I thought I'd ask PKship how much they'd charge for it. The item's listed shipping weight on Amazon was 82 grams. While waiting for their reply, I went ahead and ordered the product to the mailbox address they give you in the US since the item was already so cheap, I figured "how expensive can it be?". So, I rounded that off to 100 grams and calculated how much they'd charge me. I came to the conclusion they'd charge me:

1 USD (handling charges) + 4 USD (minimum shipment charges) + 3 USD shipment charges (by weight, since they say they charge you ONLY for your item's weight) + 1 or 2 USD for the customs (if any) = So, roughly 1000 rupees.

When they replied, they quoted me a price of 2500 rupees (EXCLUDING the item's price). As in, 2500 rupees JUST to get the item here. Upon asking for a breakdown of the price (since it was inconsistent with what their website had led me to believe), I was told that my item's shipping weight was more than the 80 grams listed on Amazon and that "Sir, it's coming from USA, and in 8 business days" (like I didn't know...). Then they said they'd give me a "smart discount". Upon inquiring what that "smart discount" would bring the price to, they said 1800. That seemed a little more reasonable, but still way out of the range I'd estimated. At that point, since I'd already ordered the item, there wasn't much else I could do so I agreed to it and made up my mind to leave a review about them to notify others about the inaccuracy of the information mentioned on their website.

A day later, they received my item in their facility in the US and notified me of it on Facebook, since that's where I'd asked them for the quote.

Another day passed and I woke up to an SMS from PKship detailing the status of my order and that its records had been created. This message contained a pleasant surprise. Instead of the 1800 rupees that I was told that I'd be charged, the details listed that the PKship charges that I'd have to pay were about 1200 rupees. Now that is roughly the amount I was expecting to be charged according to their website, and while I appreciate that eventually I was charged the amount that they've listed on their website, what worries me is that there really isn't a guarantee that they'll charge you in line with their website's specifications. If I hadn't placed my Amazon order before they quoted me the price of 2500, and then 1800 rupees, I probably wouldn't have gone ahead with using their service, so if someone from PKship is reading this, this is one aspect that could be handled better. Accurate estimations of the price the customer has to pay go a long way towards building trust between the customer and the company. This inaccuracy, to me, was the only bad part of dealing with them.

I received daily SMS updates regarding my order, which was very nice. Below, I'll detail the timeline of my order:

June 22nd - Order placed on Amazon
June 23rd - Order shipped from Amazon
June 24th - Order received at PKship facility
June 27th - Package departed the US
June 28th - Package in customs at Lahore airport
June 28th - Shipped to Peshawar via Blue-Ex
June 29th - Package received by me in Peshawar.

The package contained a complimentary PKship pen in addition to my product :p

All in all, it was a great experience with PKship, and I especially liked the fact that they held true to their 4-8 business days delivery promise. I thought I'd post my thoughts on them since I didn't know about them yet and I thought Pakgamers members might benefit from it. So, if you do decide to go with them, make sure to get an accurate estimate of what you'll be charged, other than that, I think they're pretty legitimate.

Been waiting for a review. Since it looks a good alternative. And yes you're right about their price quoting system... They quote a hell of an estimate.

It's good to see their day to day messaging regarding your shipment activity, but I hope they're not doing it to attract customers but they keep up with it after they get some recognition and don't treat customers like shit like they did to on bytes.pk and homeshopping

If say an item is worth $399 like an ultrawide monitor they will add things up and it can go to $850 which happened to me when i wanted to import an LED using PKship so i ended with an LG 4K TV for around 70,000Rs locally. So there is no point of ordering stuff as they ask for twice the price of the item.

June 5th - Order placed on Amazon.
June 10th - Order reached PKShip USA facility.
June 12th - Records Created
June 13th - Departed Operations facility (USA)
June 17th - Customs office Lahore Airport
June 19th - PKShip Lahore Office
June 19th - BlueEx Out for Delivery
June 20th - Delivered by BlueEx

I ordered 2 powerline adapters since I couldn't get them here and just to test it out, a Cat6 25 ft Ethernet cable.
Total charges by PKship were 8200 PKR excluding the price of the items.

Good service. Very expensive. I thought fine, it was justified because the box of the powerline adapters looked big in a picture, but when it arrived, it's about the same size as a phone box. So no. The charges on their calculator thing came to 4000 if I calculated both items together or 4300 if I did them separately and added the amount.
Don't ask me where they got 8.2k from.

3 miles from the nearest bus stop
from 2500 to straight 1200, thats some price cut. So apparently you have to show your self a conscious costumer, by arguing and inquiring the details, to get yourself an acceptable price quote

Thanks for sharing your experience!
Off-topic: Regardless of the differences people had with LoydGanks, I for one, miss his (amazon)service on PG.
Affordable, swift and very forthcoming.

I might talk to PkShip about ordering a miami heat jersey. See what price I get.

Wow, after reading these posts, I'm glad I checked them out first by ordering something small. As mentioned, they ARE pretty expensive. And like murtaza12 said, their website leads you to believe you're getting a great price, but their final price is much higher and you can't do anything about it by that time. They should really figure this aspect out and fix their misleading advertising accordingly.

True.
but they wont do anything about the misleading advertisement unless or until theres a law stating something against it.

Yeah, that too... Internet shopping in Pakistan is booming but there's still no proper safeguards except ordering things on COD and even that wouldn't address overcharging on a service like PKship

Oh man. I just saw this thread. I used pkship in February this year. Needless to say i was in a pinch and needed coolant for my pc ( I had a massive spill! lol. Looked like a murder scene from like a tv show with red coolant all over the place! ). I registered, and placed an order in the UK for 6 bottles and a few fittings for my liquid cooling setup. Total order online was about 15k PAK Rupees ( converted from pounds ). Before it got to Karachi, Pkship called me as they did not know how to classify the contents. I had to look up the HS code for them so that they could calculate the duty and all lol.

In any case, first the duty and pkship fees was coming upto 25k total (not including the 15k for the order itself )!! But by the time they delivered it, I was charged a total of 18K or so. Needless to say, not doing that again! lol.
