So guys I will be moving to Lahore in the start of January next year. I have already rented a place out so that's done, now a few things of importance that I would like some Lahoris to pitch in with what they know:

- I noticed in DHA phase 5 where I was roaming around and specifically in A block where I have rented the place ufone was giving edge instead of 3G. One would expect Ufone having sorted that but most of the time I was getting only edge. So which network should I be moving to for good internet access, I don't download on my phone connection but would not mind having a decent post paid line that covers surfing and hotspot usage. No I don't want those dongle devices.

- I have heard PTCL smart tv or wateen tv (compulsory internet from them) is available there, which option works better in your view? I will probably look for a 2mbps or 4mbps connection.

- What are the reasonable furniture market or shops in Lahore? Am not interested in gaudy furniture but basic no frills clean cut modern furniture, please don't say habitt it's too expensive. Also in Karachi we have nursery where refurbished or used furniture is also available, are there any such markets in Lahore?

- Where are the company operated PSO pumps if any located in Lahore?

- What is the best place in Lahore to buy home stuff such as kitchen utensils, crockery, groceries, Makro, Metro or Hyperstar in terms of value for money and variety.

- We have a wholesale electronics market in Karachi, so we bought a 43k ka fridge in 39k. Is there any wholesaler of Haier and other home appliances or markets where one can go?

- How easy or how difficult is the driving licence acquisition process in Lahore, any shortcuts? Also if my permanent and temporary addresses are from Karachi, will I need to update my Nadra card to be able to get a licence made from there? (basically need to get my wife's licence made, I hope my sindh wala will be valid there?)

- What are the important traffic laws that should be followed to avoid challans? (Karachi has one law, try to abide by the signal)

- I noticed in Lahore that in breakfast time the delicacy is cholay and nan, do you guys have chai hotels that do parathas too?

- Other than mall of Lahore which are the good malls of Lahore and where are they located?

- What is the absolute No.1 hospital of Lahore?

More questions will be added to this thread as they arise, feel free to give your expert local knowledge!

Welcome to lahore :dance4: hope you will have great times here, i'm not the best person to ask for directions but i will try my best to add as much as possible withing my knowledge.

On your arrival first thing you might be doing is driving, it would be pretty much the same as in Karachi, but again its wise to follow all the traffic rules as a responsible citizen despite the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies or chalans, its for our own good anyways, in short follow the signals and no cellphone while driving to avoid chalans.
Yes your Licence is valid here, your wife can apply for hers at Ghazi Road (K-Block) Commercial Market in the Defense Housing Authority licence facilitation center, Sindh ID card shouldnt be an issue, it should be pretty easy to get licence for a lady without any shortcut anyways.

lahore is not a small town, like any other city there are specific markets in congestion and scattered all over the place alike, i would suggest to take your time out and spend exploring the city, markets, recreational spots etc, do price check of needed items at multiple places to see the difference, if the price difference is not wild, buy from the nearest to support the business closer to your location.

Main Boulevard Gulberg has plenty to offer, from food chains to malls and markets of all sorts, for Furniture visit Main Market, you will find new used and refurbished furniture, good haggling there, Pace, hafeez center and chenOne are just next to each other, Sidique Trade Center and Empire Center and liberty Market all on Main Boulevard, Liberty Market still holds its charm from cinemas to food from hotels to malls which includes HKB, EnEm, Alfatah to name a few for grocery crockery and all the general stuff plus for ladies all those dupata cloths rangnay walay to tailors etc, however should also visit Macro, Metro and hyberstar aswell, Fortress Cant market another place to visit

Hallraod and shahalmi market for AC. fridges, and all the electronics on competitive rates than rest of the city

Tollington Market for all your pet needs

MM alam road for some expensive and international and local food chains, tasty too, and food street model town link road or anarkali,(if its still there), anarkali ichra all the other stuff as well for cheaper stuff

Dr Hospital, Defence National Hospital, Jinah Hospital, Showkat Khanam Hospital, Sheikh Zaid Hospital, Hameed Latif Hospital all seem to be reputed hospitals

Montgomery Road for workshops, and Bilal Ganj for spareparts of all sorts

well thats all i can think of for now, maybe take out a willing sarak chaap :mario: lahorie PG member for a city tour im sure you'll find plenty when they come across your post

Well, lately things have changed, but when I was around, Warid worked wonders for me. I had an excellent experience with LTE on Warid. Used it as my primary connection, in fact. However, with their merger with Mobilink, I don't know what's the in thing now. I'll let the others comment.

- Where are the company operated PSO pumps if any located in Lahore?
I'm not sure if they're any different from the regular PSOs. From what I recall, all of them are outsourced but backed by the company ofc.
Close-by, I think you've got one at the end of the main defence road just opposite C Block. (unless I'm mistaken. Oddly forgetting things). Apart from that, there should be one en-route Defence from Cavalry, and there's one at Girja Chowk (near Mall Of Lahore). They've the best fuel too, quality wise. [which i

- What is the best place in Lahore to buy home stuff such as kitchen utensils, crockery, groceries, Makro, Metro or Hyperstar in terms of value for money and variety.
Metro and Makro have merged, but between the two, I've personally found better prices at Hyperstar. It varies, generally. For some items, Metro, for others, Hyperstar. Metro is inconvenient (for me, at least) so I personally prefer Hyperstar for the bulk shopping and Jalal Sons for shopping on and off.

Regardless, I think the closest and most feasible option for you is Al Fateh.

- We have a wholesale electronics market in Karachi, so we bought a 43k ka fridge in 39k. Is there any wholesaler of Haier and other home appliances or markets where one can go?
Abid Market. There's a lot of competition in that region so you're likely to find the best prices around. With moderate bargaining skills, you can actually get a very good deal. Just keep an eye out for fakes (especially with TVs).

Apart from that, you can also get them from Hall Road.

When I got my license made, the process was fairly straightforward. I got both, my local and international licenses without any hiccups. I went to the police HQ's in Kacheri (and got kicked out for wearing shorts. :p). For some, the process hasn't been that simple. The easiest way, though, is go to their liberty office and get a learners license made. Extremely straightforward, tbh.

Short cuts, of course they're there, but I will neither recommend them nor shed light on them. I'm strictly against these methods because such things are what hold us back, collectively, as a nation and hinder our progress. Why take a short cut when you can do it the legit way?!

Sindh ID Card shouldn't be an issue. My parents had Sindh ID cards and from what I recall, their licenses are made in Lahore. Not 100% on this though.

- What are the important traffic laws that should be followed to avoid challans? (Karachi has one law, try to abide by the signal)
It's a pity and an absolute shame that you've want to follow the traffic rules to avoid challans and not because, well, they're bloody well rules that should be followed in the first place!

ALL rules should be followed, and I'm not saying that you don't follow them, but if you drive responsibly and without breaking any rules in general, why would you even worry about rules that should be followed to avoid challans?

Regardless, there're speed cameras at several places, seatbelt challans are much more common now than before but still not as much as the capital, and, of course, breaking a signal, don't expect to not be caught.

- I noticed in Lahore that in breakfast time the delicacy is cholay and nan, do you guys have chai hotels that do parathas too?
Of course! We absolutely LOVE food, which includes, but is most certainly not limited to nihari, halwa puri, murgh cholay, anda paratha etc. There's really A LOT of stuff and a lot of great stuff too.

I'll recommend joining this facebook group. It's primarily Lahori's and there's literally every food related discussion there that you'll ever need. From fine dining, to dhaba's, there's people covering quite literally everything.

Thank You, I don't know all the road rules except for the following ones:

- Signals both usage and abiding
- Intersections be wary and slow down
- Seatbelts sure
- Keep to left if you are slow or want to turn left
- Speed limits existed but did not know in city limits they do, waisay bhi road hain kahan k I will be able to do the daily 80-120km/h runs that I am used to here :(

So basically I am a stickler for rules, it's more about knowing what is commonly practiced because we all know no city of Pakistan fully follows rules, my intent was to find out which ones to absolutely follow. I respect the laws man, it makes everything much more sane!

There ARE roads in Lahore where you can easily go over the speed limit without even knowing. I myself am not aware about the speed limits around most places, but they're much more common now and they've increased the boards specifying the speed limits too. Just gotta be careful. It's 60kph on most roads and 45-50 on some in Cantt.

Apart from all that, overtaking from the right, and ONLY the right. And, maybe even the proper use of indicators, something that's largely lacking in Pakistan, unfortunately.

We use gourmet water. You have to go and pick up/refill it from gourmet in FF sector Phase IV (near saleem fabrics on Phase IV main blvd) and H sector Phase 1. But Nestle also delivers water bottles to your home. Last I heard, their water tank was for 200rs.

Nestle's price is around 250 these days I think

So guys, I have finally moved. The cold is the worst I have ever seen in my life, even the Islamabad winter looks like a child in front of this Lahori winter.

Anyways things have stabilized but few things I am finding difficult to work out:

- decent Hi Octane in defence? Total pump near phase 4 is out till 25th Jan.
- Which UPS to buy? Relatives got me on the phone with some shop I think SK group and he was asking 38k with two batteries (millat) for locally made UPS 1200watts. They have been using it since 3-4 years in two locations albeit a smaller variant without problems.
- Gas heater vs electric fan based (I know with experience that a large fan heater can decrease the temps in the room while the gas heater only heats small area of it's surrounding)

how are you finding the city, the culture, language and vibrancy, specially moving from khi ( I presume)
I have not explored much, but the traffic is times better than Karachi very accommodating and very slow paced. In Karachi I cant explain it but everyone is gunning for every single tiny spot anywhere on the road since that spot can get you to your destination presumably faster. Where traffic laws are raped in Karachi, traffic in Lahore at least in major roads and arteries and DHA looks much more sane. I will not be able to drive in Karachi without hating every bit after this. More when I am able to spend more days for now it's only a week and only few days with car.

So while Playing Control, I found a journal which said that a bathroom is missing in Islamabad Beurue of Control. With Alan Wake and Control seems to be connected worlds. Even our city is in the universe as well. No wonder those Trail 5 and Trail 6 are haunted.
did you know you can see @NaNoW credited in the game too ? :p

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.

I usually stay away from animes. Vinland saga changed the way i look at my life, and my experiences within. I recommend every breathing human being to watch this animated masterpiece at least once fromstart to finish.
After I watched it, I never felt like i watched a show. It was a friggin journey. I got way too attached to Thorfinn and seeing him grow up and find himself and get rid of all the negativity inside of him was just pure bliss.

I absolutely hate parry and Sekiro made me love it, i hate sci fi and Mass Effect made me love it. This is the definition of genre defining experiences.

With how great cod warzone has translated onto mobile. Mainstream Consoles have lost its value even further. Maybe console gaming was associated with TVs and how TV is not the primary source of media consumption anymore, consoles will lose its 200 million core audiences even further.
