[h=1]Mortal Kombat 11 update makes the game less of a grind[/h]

[h=2]NetherRealm is giving players free currency, making Towers of Time easier[/h]

NetherRealm Studios rolled out an update for Mortal Kombat 11 on Monday that addresses the game’s economy and the divisive Towers of Time, two changes that make the fighting game less grindy and more player-friendly.
For players looking for more of Mortal Kombat 11’s various currencies, NetherRealm is now giving them two to three times as much of the post-fight currency rewards (Koins, Soul Fragments, Hearts) than before. In the Towers of Time, for example, battles I played earned me somewhere between 1,100 and 1,500 Koins per match, as well as 10 Soul Fragments and three Hearts per match. That’s a considerable boost in in-game currency.
That increased payout is on top of a new “Community Gift” that NetherRealm rolled out to PlayStation 4 players on Monday (the update and the same gift is promised for Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and Xbox One players soon). The gift includes 500,000 Koins, 1,000 Souls, 1,000 Time Crystals, and 500 Hearts, all of which should make exploring the Krypt more fruitful.

NetherRealm has received blowback over how it implemented Mortal Kombat 11’s in-game currency rewards and how those currencies were used in the game’s Krypt. Players complained that the time investment required to unlock the game’s hundreds of skins was compounded by the random nature of unlockable cosmetics, augments, and other items found in the Krypt. Similarly, the Towers of Time mode has been criticized for pushing players to use consumable items to overcome extremely difficult (and not-at-all-fun) challenges.
On top of the economy, Towers of Time received a major overhaul, in terms of difficulty, payouts, and how Konsumables work. Here are the relevant patch notes from NetherRealm’s update, as posted to Mortal Kombat subreddit.
Towers of Time Adjustments
• Adjusted AI difficulty curve
• Further opponent health reductions in higher level Towers
• Performing a Fatal Blow while standing in an active modifier will no longer sometimes cause unexpected behavior or a crash
• Ice based modifiers will no longer attempt to freeze players during invalid states
• Adjusted and removed modifiers from many Daily Towers
• Increased Koin Rewards for kompleting Towers and Tower Platforms
• Increased Dragon Challenge Koin rewards
• Increased post fight Koin rewards
• Increased amount of Hearts earned from Fatalities, Brutalities, and Mercies
• Lowered modifier damage for many modifiers
• Adjusted the lifespan of several modifiers
• Dramatically increased cooldowns on Tag Assist modifiers
• Fixed a missing Reduced Damage modifier in The Gauntlet
• Several Gift/Curse Modifiers are now considered projectiles allowing them to interact with moves that effect projectiles as intended
• Adjusted Gauntlet difficulty and progression requirements
• Disabler Konsumables now work with all intended modifiers
• Improved targeting for several Konsumables
• Sektor Hunter Killer Protocol Modifier is now disabled by the Rocket Disabler Konsumable
• Corrected some multipliers on Augments for some characters which were inconsistent with others
• Fixed incorrect Armor interactions with some Modifiers
• Decreased Konsumable cooldowns for players

[h=1]Spawn, Nightwolf, and Sindel confirmed for Mortal Kombat 11 DLC[/h]
With hints of Ash from Evil Dead and the Terminator

Mortal Kombat 11’s first batch of add-on fighters will bring Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, and Todd McFarlane’s Spawn to the fighting game, according to a trailer for the Kombat Pack DLC. That trailer also promises two additional guest characters, with hints that Ash from the Evil Dead series and the Terminator may join the MK11 roster.
Shang Tsung was announced as Mortal Kombat 11’s first DLC character back in March. The evil sorcerer is portrayed by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa in the game, reprising his role as Shang Tsung from the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie adaptation.
Similarly, Keith David, who voiced Spawn in the HBO animated series, will return to voice that character in MK11.
Our first look at Shang Tsung in action confirms the appearance of a few other characters: ninjas Rain, Reptile, Ermac, and Smoke. Shang Tsung can assume the form of those ninjas, as well as his opponent, in battle. What’s more, Shang Tsung’s Fatal Blow sees him transform into another group of ninjas, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Noob Saibot, combining their moves in a brutal new way. And as long as Shang Tsung’s bringing back classic Mortal Kombat characters, he summons Mortal Kombat 2’s Kintaro for his fatality, ripping apart his opponent from the inside.
Shang Tsung will be released on June 18, first for Kombat Pack owners.
While we don’t get a look at the other Kombat Pack characters, their inclusion in the DLC confirms some long-standing leaks about Mortal Kombat 11’s post-release plans. Spawn creator Todd McFarlane outed Spawn as a Mortal Kombat 11 guest character back in December, and players uncovered references to Ash, Terminator, and The Joker in game files.
Mortal Kombat 11’s Kombat Pack will include the announced six characters, as well as character skins and gear sets for each DLC fighter; the Johnny Cage Ninja Mime skin and gear set; 18 character skins for existing fighters; and one-week early access to the aforementioned content. The Kombat Pack is included as part of Mortal Kombat 11’s premium edition ($99.99) or sold individually for $39.99.

[h=1]Mortal Kombat 11’s new patch ‘uncensors’ Kabal’s Brutality[/h]

Channeling Pee-wee’s Big Adventure

Mortal Kombat 11’s latest free update does a number of things, but most visibly it “uncensors” Kabal’s goofy Brutality. Here’s my vote for leaving it censored.
Not because it’s gory, hideous or tasteless. It’s just kinda … lame? Kabal’s gimmick is that he’s so ugly underneath his mask that he’ll scare your soul right out of you, sort of like a Scooby-Doo cartoon.

Well the title update shows us what’s going on under those pixels now. Basically, Kabal looks like
Large Marge from Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (pictured above, for the sake of irony).

Kabal’s uncensored Brutality is among “several new Brutalities for players to discover,” according to the official patch notes. Other highlights to this week’s update include a tweak to the Training mode to make practicing combos with Krushing Blows a little easier.
The omnibus patch is readying the game for the release of the first DLC character, Shang Tsung, played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who played the wizard in the 1995 flick.

[h=1]Mortal Kombat 11 dev: Hackers have taken over the leaderboards[/h]

A string of alleged DDOS attacks has put a single player on top of the leaderboards on PS4

NetherRealm Studios, long-time developer of several popular fighting games, admits that it’s investigating a string of online attacks against Mortal Kombat 11 customers. It appears that at least one determined hacker is using distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks to manipulate the leaderboards on PlayStation 4. There are also reports of personal threats, including several alleged instances of players whose home addresses have been posted online.
The situation was confirmed by NetherRealm yesterday evening on Twitter.
“We are aware of numerous DDoS attacks perpetrated by a certain player in the Kombat League,” wrote a representative. “We intend to make use of all options available to us to address this situation.”

Original reporting by Eurogamer tells a much more complicated story. That “certain player” goes by various handles on PS4, including pa3com, pa4com, and Son-Goku-DZ. For the last few weeks they’ve been climbing up the MK11 leaderboards, but without any clear indication that they deserve the top ranking.
Instead, the hacker appears to be able to capture and exploit their opponents’ Internet Protocol (IP) address. They then target those individuals with a sudden DDOS attack. The bad traffic streaming into their home router forces their opponents to disconnect from the match, awarding points to the hacker by default and boosting their ranking.
The attacks are likely being delivered via some sort of botnet. It’s a strategy that regularly lands individuals in jail, but this time there’s a twist. Anecdotal reports allege that hackers are also able to use data captured during one-on-one matches in MK11 to determine another player’s home addresses. They then use that information to make targeted, personal threats. One such incident even occurred live on Twitch, where a player with the handle BelowZer0was threatened with real-world violence at his home.

While these threats don’t appear to be coming from the same player who is exploiting theMK11 leaderboards, they are nonetheless evidence that there could be something seriously wrong with the security in MK11.
Polygon has reached out to NetherRealm for more information.

[h=1]Mortal Kombat 11 is adding three-player co-op raids[/h]
The new mode is called Team Raids

Mortal Kombat 11is getting a new kind of co-op mode for a fighting game, developer NetherRealms revealed during a livestream on Thursday. The mode will let up to three players work together to take down a larger enemy.
This new mode, called Team Raids, pits three players against their own individual opponents that all work toward taking down the big enemy as a team. During these individual fights, players will have the chance to do specific challenges that could give the entire team power ups, or do extra damage to the main boss.
Each of these fights are timed so everyone on your three-person team will have to pull their weight. As their name implies, this new mode takes inspiration from more traditional MMO raids and is intended to be one of Mortal Kombat 11’s most difficult challenges.
According to the developers there will be several of these new co-op raids rolling out withMortal Kombat 11’s next patch, although no specific date was given.

[h=1]Spawn comes to Mortal Kombat 11 on March 17[/h]

Todd McFarlane’s anti-hero is here to skin Scorpion alive

Todd McFarlane’s Spawn is coming to Mortal Kombat 11 later this month, the final add-on character as part of the fighting game’s Kombat Pack. Spawn will be released on March 17 in early access (for Kombat Pack owners) and on March 24 for everyone else.
Spawn’s gameplay debut trailer shows he’s a force to be reckoned with. Not only does have those deadly chains, Spawn’s packin’ plenty of heat in that overly dramatic cape. He’s also hiding his ax, a sword, and even a spiked club in there. Stick around to the end to see Spawn flay Scorpion alive, then strip the remaining meat off his bones.
The end of the trailer also showcases a few new skins coming to Mortal Kombat 11 alongside Spawn, including new looks for Nightwolf, Jacqui Briggs, and Erron Black — Jacqui’s even getting her own Spawn-inspired skin.
Spawn is the sixth and final DLC character announced for Mortal Kombat 11, joining Shang Tsung, Sindel, The Joker, Terminator T-800, and Nightwolf. Actor Keith David is reprising his role as the voice of Spawn for his MK11 appearance.
Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.

[h=1]Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath expansion will continue the game’s story, add RoboCop[/h]

New fighters, a new campaign, and Friendships are coming to MK11

NetherRealm Studios will release Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, a continuation of the fighting game’s time-traveling story that will include new characters, on May 26. Aftermathwill expand the roster with three fighters: Sheeva, Fujin, and new guest character RoboCop.
The story of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath will pick up where the original game left off, with Liu Kang having (canonically) defeated Kronika, the time-manipulating antagonist responsible for futzing with the franchise’s timeline. Liu Kang is tasked with weaving a new timeline at the behest of Raiden, and with the assistance of characters like Shang Tsung, Fujin, Nightwolf, and Sheeva.
Fujin, the god of wind, made his series debut in Mortal Kombat 4 and hasn’t been a playable character since 2006’s Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Sheeva, the half-human, half-dragon Shokan, first appeared in Mortal Kombat 3, and returns from her most recent appearance, 2011’s Mortal Kombat reboot. RoboCop, who joins guest characters Terminator, The Joker, and Spawn, will be voiced by actor Peter Weller.
Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath will also add new stages, including updated versions of the Dead Pool from Mortal Kombat 2 and the Soul Chamber from MK3. Friendships, the comedic and non-violent finishing moves, are also coming back, but they’ll be available to allMK11 players, not just for owners of the Aftermath expansion. In a video presentation with press, NetherRealm showed off a handful of Friendships: Scorpion get-over-here-ing a giant teddy bear; Kano grilling some shrimp on a barbecue (and lighting the briquettes with his eye laser); and Noob Saibot jumping rope with two clones.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
