Michael Schumacher in 'coma', critical after ski accident

Michael Schumacher is in a critical condition and in a coma after suffering a head injury in a skiing accident.

Schumacher suffered the injury while skiing in an unmarked area at Meribel in France with his 14-year-old son on Sunday.

At 11:07am local time, the seven-time World Champ fell, hitting his head on a rock.

Within minutes he had received medical treatment and was airlifted to Moutiers before he was flown to Grenoble for more tests.

Leading neurologist Gerard Saillant was brought to the hospital where Schumacher reportedly underwent "immediate neurosurgical treatment."

A spokesman for the hospital said: "Michael Schumacher was the victim of very serious trauma. He was very agitated when he arrived and we decided he was in a critical situation and he quickly went into a coma.

"The neurosurgical treatment he received brought us quite a lot of information. We had to operate urgently to release some pressure in his head. Unfortunately, he has some lesions within his brain."

Been following this news since it first emerged. After the initial outcry on social media, there were reports that it wasn't serious.
But I was thinking it's never easy when the brain is involved, and guess what...
Too many complications can arise. Hope he pulls through. He's the GOAT after-all, imo.

F1 champion Michael Schumacher has left hospital in Grenoble and is no longer in a coma, his family says.

The 45-year-old German will continue his rehabilitation at an undisclosed location, they said in a statement.

Schumacher was placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a severe head injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps on 29 December.
