[h=1]Ezra Miller Says Flashpoint Starts Filming ‘Pretty Soon’[/h]

The Flashpointfilm will soon enter filming, according to Ezra Miller himself, who plays the current iteration of the Scarlet Speedster on the big screen. After his successful introduction in Justice League that left the majority of the fandom clamoring for a solo movie, it seems like Warner Bros. is quietly moving forward with his first standalone outing despite the lack of official update about it since its announcement back in the summer.

While we’re not yet sure how Warner Bros. plans to spin the Flashpoint film, readers of the comics know how pivotal it is not just to Barry Allen’s personal story arc, but on the whole franchise. In it, Barry attempts to travel back in time to save his mother from being murdered. Unbeknown to him, his actions have a massive effect on the existing DC mythos. This includes having an ongoing war between Aquaman and Wonder Woman, as well as the existence of a far more violent version of Batman with Thomas Wayne donning the cowl. If persistent rumors of Ben Affleck wanting out of his current superhero gig turn out to be true, Flashpoint is a great way to do it, especially with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played the Wayne patriarch in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, seemingly eager to pick-up the role.
RELATED: THE FLASHPOINT MOVIE NEEDS CYBORG, NOT BATMAN
The update has come courtesy of Daniel Eliesen on Twitter claiming that he was able to ask Miller during ACE Comic-Con over the weekend regarding the status of Flashpoint. The actor’s reply seems pretty ecstatic (granted that he seems to be always exuberant) indicating that all is well with his standalone movie. Check out the tweet below:
Just asked Ezra when are we getting Flashpoint and he said “ we’re starting it pretty soon, can’t wait.” #TheFlash
— Daniel Eliesen (@Daniel_Eliesen) December 9, 2017
While we’re all thrilled that Flash will get his own standalone film after his promising debut in Justice League, it’s interesting that Flashpoint is already set to kick-off production when we barely have any concrete update about it. Since it has been announced, things have mostly been quiet on that front, with no concrete updates. There have, of course, been countless rumors, but unless WB comes forward and confirm them, they will remain nothing more than that. Additionally, with three more films already on the docket having release dates, it seems likelier Wonder Woman 2 will be next in line in terms of principal photography, given it follows David F. Sandberg’s Shazam, which begins production early next year.
In any case, it’s also possible that Miller was speaking about pre-production which is arguably is a far more plausible scenario granted the aforementioned reasons. Unless of course, Warner Bros. decides to fast-track the project in order to execute the rumored soft-reset on the DC Films franchise. With only one film coming out in 2018, folks behind the DCEU could regroup and take their time deciding on the best way they can handle their superhero franchise moving forward.

[h=1]Flashpoint: Game Night Directors Confirmed For DCEU Film[/h]

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are confirmed to direct DC’s Flashpoint movie. The Flash solo movie was first announced in 2014 as part of Warner Bros.’ initial slate of films for their unofficially titled DC Extended Universe, with a release date tentatively planned for March 2018. It was supposed to be the first movie to release after Zack Snyder’s Justice League hit theaters in November 2017.
Unfortunately, The Flash solo movie suffered numerous delays behind the scenes – most notably, directors Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa both departed the DCEU film in 2016 – and was removed from Warner Bros.’ schedule indefinitely, thus leaving the release date open for WB’s Tomb Raider reboot to swoop in. The studio was courting various directors to helm the film in 2017, and they finally landed on Goldstein and Daley. They both achieved critical acclaim for writing the story for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as directing WB’s latest comedy, Game Night. Unfortunately, the deal between them and the studio wasn’t finalized… until now.

John Francis Daley posted a gif on Twitter of Flash running with the caption reading, “It’s happening!,” thus confirming that he and Jonathan Goldstein have finalized their deal with Warner Bros. and will officially be directing DC’s Flashpoint movie. Take a look:

[h=1]Jeffrey Dean Morgan: Batman Role Would Be ‘Thrill of a Lifetime’[/h]

Playing Batman in DC’s Flashpoint movie would be like a dream come true for Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The actor is no stranger to the DC universe. He previously played the Comedian in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen adaptation in 2009 and then played Thomas Wayne in Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. And now, he’s looking to reprise his role as Thomas in Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s Flashpoint movie, based on the 2011 comic book of the same name written by current DC Films co-chief Geoff Johns.
In the Flashpoint comic series, Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) travels back in time and prevents the Reverse-Flash from murdering his mother, Nora Allen. By doing so, the Flash inadvertently launched the DC Universe into an alternate timeline known as Flashpoint, one in which Kal-El never became Superman, Aquaman and Wonder Woman are at war with each other, and Bruce Wayne was murdered instead of his parents. Because of that, Thomas Wayne ends up becoming a more brutal version of Batman to combat crime in Gotham. And that’s a role Morgan wants to play.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is hoping to reprise his role as the DCEU’s Thomas Wayne in Flashpoint, but it’s unclear if that will actually happen. If it does, Morgan told Total Film that he’d consider it a “thrill of a lifetime” just to put on the Batsuit:
“We’ll see. I mean, look, DC is DC, and they’ll figure out what they’re going to do next. But I’m highly aware of the character, I will say that. I’m highly aware of the character, and it would probably be a thrill of a lifetime to put on the Batsuit.”

While playing Batman would be like a dream come true for Morgan, playing the Flashpoint version of Batman (the Thomas Wayne version) would be even better. In the same interview, Morgan mentions that he considers the Flashpoint version of the Caped Crusader to be the darkest and coolest version of the character:
“And what I know about the Flashpoint Batman is, you know, for me, I think he is not only the darkest of the Batmen, but the coolest. And I love his whole storyline and who he is and the tortured soul of it all.”

While there are undoubtedly plenty of dark Batman stories, Flashpoint is certainly up there for Thomas Wayne, specifically. After all, Thomas not only lost his son on that fateful evening but also his wife, Martha Wayne, who ends up becoming the Joker in the Flashpoint timeline. If Morgan does end up appearing as Batman in Flashpoint, then perhaps Lauren Cohan (who played Martha in BvS) will appear as the Joker as well, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
For now, audiences can look forward to Flashpoint reportedly entering production this year, with the film also expected to be a loose adaptation of the source material. While alternate versions of Aquaman and Wonder Woman will reportedly appear, with Ben Affleck possibly reprising his role as Batman for potentially the final time, the movie won’t be a direct adaptation of the universe-altering story arc. For instance, Reverse-Flash and the rest of the Flash’s rogues gallery are supposed to appear in the film, but Doctor Light might be the main villain. At the moment, much is unclear about DC’s Flashpoint movie and how it will impact the overarching DCEU, but hopefully fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to find out exactly what’s going on.

[h=1]The Flash DCEU Solo Movie May Not Be Titled Flashpoint[/h]

Warner Bros.’ solo Flash movie may no longer be titled Flashpoint. When WB announced their DC film slate a few years back, one of the goals was to get two Justice League movies out quickly, and line up solo film for the core members. Among the iconic DC heroes that were set to play a major role was Flash. Once Ezra Miller was cast for a cameo as Barry Allen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, fans became excited to see more of his take. Unfortunately, his solo movie has been one of the more troubled projects for DC to develop.
Flash has lost multiple directors over the last few years, with Rick Famuyiwa’s exit in 2016 being the biggest setback. The film’s script was subsequently retooled with a focus on Flashpoint, and appeared to have lined up Gal Gadot and maybe even Ben Affleck for appearances. That all happened before Game Night directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein joined though, and before Walter Hamada took over DC Films. In fact, those recent changes may have resulted in another overhaul.

THR slyly included a mention of Flash at the end of a report about writer Dan Mazeau adapting Ernest Cline’s Armada novel, following the success of Ready Player One. Near the end of the article, it mentions that Mazeau “worked on the Warner Bros.’ Flash movie project when it was titled Flashpoint.” This immediately caught the attention of many thanks to the past-tense phrasing regarding the film’s title being Flashpoint. THR‘s Borys Kit clarified the situation a bit on Twitter, indicating that there may be more details to come:
I didn't say they weren't adapting Flashpoint. All I said was that it wouldn't be titled Flashpoint. But maybe I've said too much.

— Borys Kit (@Borys_Kit) April 3, 2018
The idea of Daley and Goldstein’s film changing back to just a Flash solo movie currently makes much more sense for the character. Justice League may have given him a good amount of screentime, but audiences still don’t really know Miller’s version of Barry Allen. Adapting Flashpoint – a time-traveling story where Barry alters history to save his mother’s life – could be a hard sell. That is a story that would best be told after audiences already learned about his origin and became attached to him more.
The change could also be a result of the new creatives in charge of DC. We still don’t know that much about what Hamada wants to do, but Shazam! suggests he wants to lighten things up. Flashpoint‘s alternate world doesn’t fall in line with that strategy, but a fun coming-of-age superhero movie (like Spider-Man: Homecoming, which Daley and Goldstein wrote) does. It would also make the casting search to fill multiple roles from Flash’s villain gallery easier to understand. Daley and Goldstein may yet pull some ideas from Flashpoint, but it no longer appears that the movie itself will be titled after that storyline.

[h=1]The Flash Movie Director Hints at 2020 Release Date[/h]

Director John Francis Daley teases a 2020 release date for The Flash. Progress is being made to shape the future of the DC Extended Universe under the leadership of Walter Hamada. One of his first big moves as the head of DC Films was hiring Game Night directors John Francis Daley and Johnathan Goldstein. The duo also worked on Spider-Man: Homecoming's script, which is one of the reasons why they were able to land the coveted job. The early indications point to them drastically changing the previous story ideas for Ezra Miller's solo Flash movie.
Prior to Daley and Goldstein taking over, the movie looked like it was going to adapt one of Flash's biggest stories right out the gate: Flashpoint. Recent evidence points to them ditching the Flashpoint title and instead drawing inspiration from the famous time-traveling film Back to the Future. Even though its early, fans could see Barry Allen race across time in just two years.

Warner Bros. hasn't announced anything firm ever since the film missed its previously announced early 2018 release, but we may now have an idea of when it'll finally arrive. A fan asked Daley on Twitter recently when we could expect to see The Flash in theaters. Daley obviously doesn't want to get into any trouble (or possibly reveal an upcoming SDCC surprise) by getting too specific, but right now the target looks to be sometime in 2020.

As of right now, Warner Bros. has already staked out two release dates in 2020 for unspecified DC movies, February 14th and June 5th. Neither of these dates have been claimed so far, but their history points to a clear answer. It was recently confirmed that the plan is for The Flash to start filming sometime in 2019. The only DC movie currently filming is Wonder Woman 2 and it already has a November 2019 release date set. However, Birds of Prey is eyeing a late 2018 start to production possibly and would make for a perfect Valentine's Day release. If Birds of Prey takes the February 2020 slot, then The Flash could easily take the June date.
Depending on just when The Flash starts filming, it should have anywhere between 12 to 18 months to go through production, begin post-production, do the standard reshoots, and then finish the film. This is all hoping there aren't any more speed bumps for The Flash, a project that's already lost multiple directors. As of right now, only Kiersey Clemons and Billy Crudup are confirmed cast members for the movie, outside of Miller himself. The villain is still unconfirmed, but several recognizable roles may be up for grabs. Hopefully The Flashcontinues its positive developments and can indeed hit theaters sometime in 2020.

[h=1]Flash Movie Will Reportedly Start Filming In February 2019[/h]

Ezra Miller's solo The Flash movie may start filming in February 2019. Miller is part of the old-guard of Warner Bros. and DC's movie universe. He was cast by Zack Snyder and made cameos in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. It wasn't until last year when he got a bigger role in Justice League, where Miller's comedic take on the scarlet speedster won over many. His scene-stealing role came at the perfect time as the studio made his solo movie a big priority for them.
Game Night directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will direct the movie based on a script from Joby Harold (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword). Miller is set to take on the leading role for the solo adventure, which doesn't appear to be a Flashpoint adaptation anymore. Story and character details could begin to surface soon, as we may be just a couple months away from the start of filming.

PursueNews shared the latest intel on The Flash that comes from new listings by Production Weekly. According to the report, The Flash is scheduled to start filming in February of 2019. Although the film has previously been linked to London as its home for production, it now appears that the movie will be filming in Atlanta.

This isn't the first time The Flash has been linked to an early 2019 start, but this is the firmest schedule that's surfaced so far. As long as nothing else changes, then we could start to get further casting information as 2018 comes to a close. The only cast member confirmed to be in the movie besides Miller is Kiersey Clemons as Iris West. She stayed on the production despite being hired when Rick Famuyiwa was set to direct and filmed scenes for Justice League that did not make the final cut. Billy Crudup is also likely going to be part of the cast, as he has made his debut as Henry Allen already.

With the filming schedule for The Flash becoming more clear, it continues to look likely that the movie will hit a 2020 release, which has
previously been teased by the directors. It also further guarantees the film will be part of a very busy production schedule for Warner Bros. and DC. Birds of Prey is also reportedly scheduled to begin filming in early 2019, and Matt Reeves is hopeful his The Batman reboot will film in the spring. With movies like Black Adamand Suicide Squad 2 also linked to possible 2019 shoots, the future of DC on the big screen is bright, and The Flash is one of these several exciting projects that'll be here before we know it.

[h=1]WB May Recast Flash, Ezra Miller Writing His Own Script in Attempt to Keep Role[/h]

Ezra Miller may be recast as the star of The Flash unless the darker script he's writing can change Warner Bros. and DC Films' minds. Miller joined the DC fold a few years back as part of Zack Snyder's vision for a larger DC universe when he first cameoed in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. As his role in the world grew, though, plans for a solo movie had trouble settling into place.
The project went through several different directors before Game Night's John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were hired last year. Despite the promise of their addition, The Flash has not found it any easier to get off the ground. The multiple delays have frustrated those eager to see Miller's take on Barry Allen given star treatment instead of a supporting role like he had in Justice League. Now, we may know why the film has taken so long to get off the ground, as Miller may be recast in the role.

The news comes from
THR who report that Miller's days as Barry Allen may be numbered. The star reportedly does not see eye-to-eye with the take that Daley and Goldstein have, which has resulted in him teaming up with comic book writer Grant Morrison to write a new script for the Scarlet Speedster's solo film. Warner Bros. agreed to let Miller write his own draft of the script that could be done by next week, but if they don't take to Miller's script, they will likely recast the role - unless he then agrees to stay on for Daley and Goldstein's approach.

This last ditch effort by Miller to see his "darker" vision for Flash make it to the big screen will likely force WB to choose if they'd rather have Miller or Daley and Goldstein attached. They are now staring at the possibility of having to recast a third member of their original Justice League lineup, after
Ben Affleck left as Batman and Henry Cavill's days as Superman are reportedly over too. With Miller's contract hold on The Flash expiring in May, it has put a countdown clock on resolving this matter. They just recast Will Smith's Deadshot so that Idris Elba can take over the role, so Miller will need to deliver a can't-miss script if he is going to stay on.

Since Daley and Goldstein's reported light-hearted approach fits better with their plans for the future, it would appear that a recasting is the most likely outcome here. DC Films president Walter Hamada has not been afraid to stick to his guns and move the DC universe in a particular direction even if it means losing established stars. Since he's been willing to let Affleck, Cavill, and Smith walk, it is difficult to see Miller being the one who gets his way when everything is said and done. Plus, if they did choose his script, then Daley and Goldstien would likely depart the project themselves.

While one does have to admire Miller's own passion for the character and the project, this appears to simply be a case of him wanting to take the character one way and the studio looking the other way. With recent reports pointing to a
late 2019 start to production on The Flash, it will be much easier for the studio to recast Barry Allen than find new directors who can bring Miller's script to life. Should the role become available, it will quickly become one of the biggest available gigs for a young actor in the superhero movie landscape.

[h=1]The Flash Movie: IT Director & Bumblebee Writer in Talks[/h]

IT director Andy Muschietti has entered talks to direct The Flash movie, with Christina Hodson (Bumblebee) writing the script. Ezra Miller remains attached to reprise his role as Barry Allen in the DCEU film, following his appearances inBatman V Superman and Justice League.
The DCEU's Flash solo movie has gone through several changes in director at this point, with LEGO Batman Movie cowriter Seth Grahame-Smith and Game Night helmers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein attached to call the shots at different points in time. Just back in March, it was reported that Miller had started working on a fresh script for the film with comic book writer Grant Morrison, after having disagreed with Daley and Goldstein's more light-hearted approach to the project. Now, it appears that the latter pair have stepped away altogether.

According to THR, Muschietti is currently in talks to helm The Flash movie, with Hodson writing a fresh script. The latter had become a go-to writer for Warner Bros. and DC even before the well-received Bumblebee hit theaters last year, having also written the upcoming Birds of Prey and since worked on the still-developing Batgirl movie. As for Muschietti: his adaptation of Stephen King's IT novel was a huge success for WB in 2017, and his upcoming sequel,IT: Chapter Two, should be just as popular when it opens this September.

Muschietti, if he signs on, will become the latest filmmaker with a background in horror to join the DCEU, following James Wan and David F. Sandberg (who helmed Aquaman and Shazam!). Jaume Collet-Serra also recently signed on to helm the Black Adam movie, having gotten his own start working on horror films like the House of Wax remake and Orphan. The tradition goes back even further than that, in fact, to the original Spider-Man from 2002. Those with long memories might recall that, prior to the Spidey adventure, director Sam Raimi was better known for making the Evil Dead horror-comedies and dark thrillers both fantastical (Darkman) and grounded (A Simple Plan).

The transition from horror to superheroes makes sense (see also: Scott Derrickson directing
Doctor Strange); the former genre typically requires more economic filmmaking, which is all the more useful a skill to have while working on a big-budget comic book tentpole. In Muschietti's case, his efforts on IT - and, to a lesser degree, his horror feature debut Mama - also illustrate that he knows how to deliver a crowd-pleaser than's both entertaining and "edgy". It's possible, then, that WB turned to him in the hope that he can deliver a Flashmovie that's as serious and character-driven as Miller wants, but hews closer to Aquaman, Shazam!, and Wonder Woman (all of which contain elements of horror) than the DCEU films before them. Either way, he seems like a worthy choice for the job.

[h=1]The Flash: Ezra Miller's Solo Movie May Finally Escape Development Hell[/h]

The DC Extended Universe has had trouble finding its feet, especially after thedeparture of Zack Snyder and the fallout of Justice League, but the movie giving the studio the most trouble is The Flash. Ezra Mille was hired to play the Scarlet Speedster by Zack Snyder for a couple of cameos in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before joining the main lineup in Justice Leagueand eventually getting his own solo film, but the latter has faced a litany of creative issues preventing it from getting properly underway.
The Flash has been through multiple creative teams, from Seth Grahame-Smith to Rick Famuyiwa to John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein before the newest name, IT director Andy Muschietti, joined the fold. Throughout it all, despite rumors of his departure, Ezra Miller has hung on. In fact, he may be partially to blame for some of the creative issues, at least with Daly & Goldstein, as he went as far as to partner with Comic Book legend Grant Morrison to write his own darker script for the movie when the studio preferred version wasn't to his liking.

While it's clearly still in the works, The Flash is
long past its original due date, and without a clear spot in the future slate yet, it's the movie still has a few obstacles to overcome before finally entering production and making its way to the big screen. It may be ironic that a movie about DC's speedster is so slow in getting off the ground, but Miller explained why his character's solo movie is (fittingly) behind schedule: "Anyone who knows anything about Barry Allen knows he's always late, but then when he arrives, he gets stuff done. That's definitely how this film’s production schedule is proceeding. [laughs] We're a little late, but the reason why we're late... [is] we are very meticulously focused on making a movie that's not just one of the greatest superhero movies that we can possibly make..."

As the DCEU continues to find its new post-Snyder identity, there are a few things still contributing to the delays in The Flash, and Miller, WB, and Andy Muscietti will have to overcome a few last obstacles to finally take the long-awaited plunge into the Speed Force.
[h=2]THE ORIGINAL FLASH VISION WAS TIED TO SNYDER'S PLAN[/h]

While Zack Snyder was only directing his own 5-story arc, leaving the solo movies to other creatives, the universe's core story was still his Justice Leaguemovies, meaning any plans for solo character films ultimately spun out of what Snyder was doing with them in his version of Justice League.
It's not clear exactly what Zack Snyder had planned for The Flash, but we do know time-travel was already a core theme. Flash learns to travel back in time a few seconds in the finale of Snyder's cut of Justice League, then, of course, we all know at some point down the line he jumps back again to warn Bruce as we see in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The fact that the Flash solo movie was officially titled "Flashpoint" for a period could indicate what direction they were going.

Flashpoint is certainly one of the darker and crazier DC stories, and while it's also seen as a Justice League level event, at its core it's still a Flash story, and there's certainly a version that could be told as a Flash solo movie, and could even work as a sort of Flash origin story if needed.
Regardless, with Snyder no longer serving as a major creative driver of the DCEU, his original plan is gone, and thus The Flash is seeking a new direction, only it hasn't found it yet. Rick Famuyiwa was presumably involved in the original darker version of the story, but Daly & Goldstein were said to belooking for something lighter before they left.

[h=2]EZRA MILLER IS FIGHTING FOR HIS VERSION OF THE CHARACTER[/h]

It's not uncommon for a superhero actor to be passionate about their character, but Ezra Miller takes it to the next level. He's clearly well versed in Flash lore, regularly making references to the world of Flash in various interviews. He's excited about playing the character, but his vision also doesn't align with Warner Bros.

It's important to remember that Ezra Miller was cast by Zack Snyder. Since he came into the universe for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Snyder would have had his whole plan fleshed out by the time he started talking to Miller. Like Ben Affleck and Batman, Miller signed up for a very specific version of the character that
fit into Zack Snyder's plan, but due to Snyder's departure and other creative differences, Warner Bros. is hesitant to go as dark with its iconic characters and brought in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Game Nightwriters Daley & Goldstein.

Miller pushed back to the point that Warner Bros. let him try to write his own script with Grant Morrison. That version of the movie wasn't ultimately selected, but Daly & Goldstein did end up leaving the project regardless as Ezra Miller stayed in the role for, despite his contract expiring in May.
While Miller's tenure as The Flash hasn't been that long and he could be more easily recast than some other characters, he's clearly passionate about staying on the project and seeing a certain version of the character realized on-screen, and with his role in Fantastic Beasts, a franchise very important to Warner Bros., the studio has a vested interest in keeping Miller happy, meaning they just might be playing ball with him to find a compromise so he can keep his darker Flash movie.

[h=2]WARNER BROS. DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT FROM DC[/h]

Since rejecting Zack Snyder's DC universe, Warner Bros. has yet to replace it with their own clear plan. It's been stated many times that continuity won't be a priority as individual character movies get the focus. Zack Stentz, when giving an update on his Boost Gold script, said DC's "strategy seems to change depending on how […] most recent movie did."
Being in such a state of constant flux is understandably rough for any in-process productions, especially ones where there's creative struggles like with The Flash. In order for Warner Bros. to gain the confidence they need to get The Flash into production, it seems they may also need to decide what they want from the rest of the DCEU.

[h=2]FLASH NEEDED BROAD APPEAL TO JUSTIFY ITS BIG BUDGET[/h]

Since super speed is so core to Flash's character, the studio and producers have likely been assuming the character can't be properly adapted without a big-budget movie. Flash's speed could be a highly stylized power, but heavy VFX means bigger budgets, which means Warner Bros. could be more concerned about making sure the movie has broad appeal for box office purposes, ruling out a darker story.

However, with Andy Muchsietti likely joining the project, there's a few things we can infer about the ways The Flash is changing behind the scenes. Muchsietti's horror background and experience with lower budget movies (
that still perform at the box office) could signify that WB is allowing Miller and Muchietti to take a darker, more risky approach with the movie and simply giving it a smaller budget - like with Birds of Prey and its $75 million budget - to insulate themselves from potential losses associated with mega-blockbusters.

If the perceived need for a larger budget was driving Warner Bros. desire for a lighter, more accessible movie, then it's possible they're hiring Muschietti because he gives them confidence in his ability to make the movie at a lower cost, meaning it can take more risks an appeal to Ezra Miller's desire for a darker take.
Add in Christina Hodson, seemingly Warner Bros. new go-to scriptwriter, and it seems like The Flash might finally be escaping development hell. Given, writers and directors have come and gone numerous times before, so it'd be understandable if fans aren't holding their breath just yet.

[h=1]Ezra Miller Says The Flash is "Absolutely Confirmed"[/h]

Ezra Miller says The Flash solo movie is "absolutely confirmed," as is his involvement. When Miller joined the (unofficially titled) DC Extended Universe several years ago as Barry Allen aka The Flash, it wasn't going to be too long before he starred in a solo movie of his own. He had a quick cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but was truly introduced in Justice League. As part of Warner Bros. and DC Films' original plan, The Flash was scheduled to be the first DC release after the Zack Snyder team-up.
Since that announcement was made though, The Flash has cycled through several directors - with Seth Grahame-Smith, Rick Famuyiwa, and (most recently) Johnathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley all at one point attached. The latest exit came after the directors clashed with Miller's vision for the character, and he wrote his own script. Warner Bros. elected to not use his script though, with Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey) hired to write the movie and Andy Muschietti (IT Chapter Two) set to direct.

But, after seeing past creative teams eventually leave The Flash, fans have been trying to not get their hopes too high about the current status of the film. In a recent interview with
W Korea, Miller was asked what's next for his career. Since he has many different projects in the works, he decided to only mention the ones that are "absolutely confirmed." After first naming Fantastic Beasts 3, Miller put The Flash in the same category, confirming that the movie is indeed on its way and that he's still attached to star.

Since the studios decided to go in a new direction with The Flash's creative team, it's hardly surprising that the movie is coming. The good news for Miller and his fans though is that this appears to be confirmation from him that he'll play Barry Allen again. Miller's contract hold reportedly expired earlier this year (along with Ray Fisher's), so it would appear that a new agreement was found. With Miller also one of the stars of WB's Fantastic Beasts franchise, they have a vested interest in his career already.
Miller's comments may also give fans an insight into the current plan for The Flash's schedule. He mentions the movie after Fantastic Beasts 3, which could indicate that The Flash will be what he films after. With the Harry Potterprequel starting production in the spring of 2020, its possible that WB and DC could be planning for the Flash solo film to start filming later that year or in early 2021. Either way, Muschietti will have plenty of time to develop the movie - and even the take the break he wants - before cameras need to roll. This could put The Flash on target for a 2022 release date, which may be four years later than the original plan, but fans will just be happy to see it actually hit theaters after all this time.

[h=1]IT Director Andy Muschietti Confirms Flash Movie Is His Next Project[/h]

Andy Muschietti officially confirms his involvement in directing The Flash solo film, and says it'll be his next movie. The project has undergone by far the most creative hurdles and development hell of any DCEU film, with multiple directors signing on and departing. The film's difficulties really came to a head earlier this year, with reports of creative differences between leading man Ezra Miller and then-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, with the directing-duo aiming for a lighthearted tone while Miller favored a darker approach.
Ultimately, Miller took it upon himself to write his own script with comic book writer Grant Morrison, while rumors at the time indicated his days as the Scarlet Speedster were nearing an end. However, while Warner Bros. decided not to proceed with Miller and Morrison's screenplay, the studio elected to keep Miller in the role of Barry Allen, with Daley and Goldstein departing the project. Andy Muschietti, director of 2017's IT and the upcoming sequel IT Chapter Two, would subsequently enter talks to direct the film. Christina Hodson would also board as screenwriter, with The Flash marking her third screenwriting role for a DCEU film, following the upcoming Birds of Prey and the in-development Batgirl.

While Muschietti had previously tiptoed around questions about The Flash at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, this marks the director's first public confirmation of his involvement in the film. The topic of The Flash came up during an interview with Fandango as part of the promotional tour for IT Chapter Two. When asked by correspondent Nikki Novak if he would indeed be directing The Flash,Muschietti matter-of-factly replied, "Yup."

Muschietti further explained how he was drawn to the project, stating, "What captivated me about the Flash is the human drama in it." He elaborated, "The human feelings and emotions that play in the drama [of it]" were the factors that enticed him to sign on to direct. However, fans of Muschietti's work on the IT moviesshouldn't necessarily hold their breath for the film to carry a similar horror movie feel, as Muschietti explained, "I can’t promise that there will be any horror [elements in it], really, but it’s a beautiful human story."

While The Flash has undergone the most birthing pains of any DC film, Muschietti's comments will doubtlessly come as a welcome sign to fans that the film may finally break free of its development purgatory and enter active production. Furthermore, while Muschietti's confirmation of his own involvement doesn't directly address Miller's continued tenure as Barry Allen, it also signals the director's intent of taking the film in the direction that Miller had aimed for with his and Morrison's screenplay. There's still a lot of unknowns at play with The Flash, but at the very least, fans can take comfort that the ball finally seems to be rolling for the Fastest Man Alive.

[h=1]Michael Keaton Reprising Role Of Batman In The Flash Movie[/h]

For DC's The Flash movie, Michael Keaton is in talks to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne aka Batman in the DCEU movie after starring in the 1989 film.

  • For DC's The Flash movie, Michael Keaton is in talks to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne aka Batman in the DC Extended Universe movie. Keaton played the Caped Crusader in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman movie, and again in 1992's Batman Returns. Though that particular Batman franchise continued, both Keaton and Burton departed. Since then, a handful of actors have played Batman, including Ben Affleck, who took on the cape and cowl for the DCEU, appearing in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
As for The Flash, Warner Bros. has been developing a solo movie since casting Ezra Miller as Barry Allen aka The Flash in the DCEU. However, the project has gone through multiple directors and was stuck in development for some time, with its release being delayed. Most recently IT director Andy Muschietti signed on to helm The Flash movie, and it will follow the Flashpoint storyline from DC Comics. That story sees Barry travel back in time to save his mother, and in the process, creates a whole alternate universe. Now it appears DC's Flashmovie will introduce the concept of the multiverse to the DCEU by way of Keaton's Batman.

Today, The Wrap is reporting Keaton is in very early talks to play Bruce Wayne aka Batman inThe Flash movie, but the publication notes that his appearance isn't set in stone just yet. If confirmed, Keaton will reprise the character of Batman from his movies in the late 80s/early 90s and The Flash film will reveal what's happened to the superhero since Returns. The Wrapnotes that the movie will retcon the latter two entries in that Batman series, Batman Foreverand Batman & Robin. THR reporter Borys Kit offered further details, revealing Keaton's Batman would be a mentor, and there's a possibility that if he returns, he could be in multiple DCEU movies, including the in-development Batgirl film.

Additionally, according to The Wrap, the story of the film will see Miller's Flash go back in time to save his mother and create an alternate universe in which Keaton's Batman has been operating, finding him 30 years after the events of Returns. This would be a major change from the Flashpoint comics storyline, which featured Bruce Wayne's parents Thomas and Martha Wayne becoming Batman and Joker, respectively. Instead, it replaces the DCEU's Thomas Wayne (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) with a different version of Bruce Wayne, that being Keaton's from the Burton movies. It's unclear how these changes will play out in The Flashmovie and how well the filmmakers can pull off this crossover without confusing longtime fans of the Caped Crusader.
Certainly, if The Flash movie uses this as a way to further introduce the multiverse to the DCEU and bring back Keaton's Batman for multiple appearances, it could fix the shared universe's missing Batman issue after Affleck left the role. Affleck departed the DCEU ahead of The Batman starting production, with director Matt Reeves casting Robert Pattinson in a new take on the character. However, that left the main DCEU continuity without a Batman. IfThe Flash movie brings Keaton's Batman into the DCEU, then perhaps Warner Bros. can move forward with his Bruce Wayne, while Pattinson's operates elsewhere in the multiverse. More details about how Keaton's Batman will be introduced to the DCEU and what it means for the various DC franchises will hopefully arrive soon - including confirmation that Keaton has officially signed on to appear in The Flash movie.

[h=1]Michael Keaton Is Playing The Same Batman In Flash As Burton Movies[/h]

Should the ongoing talks go to plan, Michael Keaton will play the same Batman from the Tim Burton films in The Flash and any additional DCEU films.

Should the ongoing talks go to plan, Michael Keaton will play the same Batman from the Tim Burton films in The Flash. Keaton played the iconic DC hero in two films: Batman and Batman Returns. Plans for Keaton's third appearance as Batman fell apart when Burton left the film and was replaced by Joel Schumacher. Despite that, Keaton has remained one of the most beloved cinematic Batmans based on those two films. Keaton returned to the world of comic book movies for Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it wasn't until yesterday that it seemed like he could revisit the DC side of things. News broke that Keaton is in very early talks to reprise his Batman for The Flash.

The Flash is an interesting choice for his big return, but it's also the one that might provide the best
explanation for how Keaton is back. A solo film for Ezra Miller's Barry Allen has been in the works for years now, but so far has struggled to come to fruition. However, a positive sign came when The Flash scored a 2022 release date. It: Chapter 2 director Andy Muschietti is currently attached to direct the film, which will reportedly adapt the famous Flashpoint storyline from the comics. In Flashpoint, Barry travels back in time to save his mother from being murdered, but in doing so, he changes the reality in numerous significant ways.

This would explain how Keaton could return as Batman, especially since he will be playing the same Batman he played in Burton's films. Per TheWrap, Keaton's appearance in The Flash will see what his Batman has been up to since fans last saw him in Batman Returns. The subsequent Batman films, which starred Val Kilmer and George Clooney, are not considered canon within the DCEU.

Should Keaton indeed return to the role of Batman, he'll likely be included in additional DCEU films such as Batgirl. Reports suggest he'll take on a Nick Fury-like role within the franchise; that is, he'll appear in a significant supporting role for several films. Again, though, these talks are still ongoing, so there's a chance these plans will never come to pass. Still, it's an exciting prospect that didn't seem possible before.
Fans might get some vital updates about this development in August, when the first-ever DC FanDome arrives. Announced last week, the DC FanDome is a 24-hour virtual convention that promises to include some major DCEU reveals. The Flash will be included among the projects discussed, and it would make sense for Keaton's appearance to be confirmed then (should the discussions be completed). DC FanDome takes place on August 22, so it's just a little less than two months to go before fans learn more about what to expect from this long-awaited film.

The Batman Is The Origin Of Many Villains

The Batman, while primarily focusing on Bruce Wayne in his second year, will also tell the origin stories for several of the Dark Knight's villains.

The Batman may follow a younger version of the Caped Crusader, but Matt Reeves' film will also feature the origins of the iconic villains of Gotham City. Robert Pattinson will be the next actor to bring the iconic DC hero to the big screen when the movie arrives in theaters in 2021. This will be one of the most unique iterations of Bruce Wayne, as Reeves is focusing on the detective angle of Batman. While it's not an origin story like Batman Begins, The Batman will still feature a Bruce who is still finding himself as Gotham's protecting vigilante. Production is currently on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic that caused The Batman to stop filming back in March. With new safety guidelines coming into place, production on The Batman is looking to resume in September as they have only three months worth of filming left to go. One of the biggest elements of The Batman is the multiple villains that this new take on the Dark Knight is introducing. Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, and John Turturro are all respectively bringing their versions of The Riddler, The Penguin, and Carmine Falcone to life from Batman's rogue's gallery. While there is more emphasis on Edward Nashton as the antagonist, it's still a decently sized villain line-up. But similarly to young Bruce, some of these foes are in their early days too as the evil forces of Gotham.

During their panel at DC FanDome, Reeves spoke about how his film will explore early versions of those Batman villains. When it comes to the Riddler, Reeves spoke about how Dano's Riddler will be a very dark iteration while Zoë Kravitz's Selina Kyle has yet to become Catwoman as people know her. Even with Farrell's Oswald Cobblepot, Reeves confirmed that he is not yet the infamous kingpin that he is known to be in the mythology. For the director, it was important to not only let the actors bring something new to the characters, but also have a familiarity with them that honors the source material.

The excitement and passion that Reeves presented during The Batman panel, especially with how he is depicting the Dark Knight's rogue's gallery, helps the film already stand out. To basically find these characters in their starting points or even at the beginning of their villainous paths, stresses how much dedication Reeves has put into this project. While it may have taken a few years to get the project up and going, this statement alone makes it all worth it.

By putting these villains where they are, per Reeves' description, it allows the franchise to see the evolution of them in multiple follow-ups rather than just be one-offs. As production gets ready to resume next month, more elements of the project will likely begin to emerge. With the first official trailer for The Batman using bits and pieces of the 25% that they've filmed so far, it'll be exciting to see the film in its entirety. The panel at DC FanDome was a major step forwards in building more hype and anticipation for The Batman.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
