MULTI Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Confirmed

The announcement comes via the Australian games magazine PC PowerPlay.

In a preview of its November's issue its website says, "That's right - Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer! We travel to BioWare's office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series' first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy."

No more rumours: OXM confirms multiplay for Mass Effect 3

The magazine’s confirmed that Mass Effect 3 is indeed getting a multiplayer mode, and the first details, as well as interviews with producer Casey Hudson and lead writer Mac Walters, will be featured in their October issue.

You can also expect the first multiplayer screens, as well as in-depth information about how it’ll work with the game’s single-player campaign.

“Finally, the real details on Mass Effect 3’s just-announced multiplayer mode are revealed in the December issue of Official Xbox Magazine, along with interviews with Mass Effect series exec producer Casey Hudson (@CaseyDHudson) and Mass Effect 3 lead writer Mac Walters (@macwalterslives)! The exclusive hands-on report also includes screenshots of the all-new mode, as well as in-depth info on how it will all work with Mass Effect 3’s beefy solo campaign. Time to put all those questions and rumors to rest!”

And that’s that. No more rumours. Mass Effect 3 is getting a multiplayer mode. Whether it’ll be a standalone effort, or a co-op experience, is something you’ll have to wait until October 18 to find out.

Mass Effect 3 multiplayer isn't confirmed for PSN is it? I think it is exclusively for XBL.

The publisher also says the mode will be unlocked after entering a one-time use "Online Pass" code found in each new copy of the game. The code has been used in previous EA titles, including Mass Effect 2, which unlocked access to the Cerberus Network. The code can also be purchased separately, though a price point was not announced.

“The theme of galactic war in Mass Effect 3 presents us with the perfect opportunity to introduce multiplayer into the Mass Effect series,” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. “Multiplayer not only features amazing combat and deep customization options, but it will give players another way to help the war effort against the Reapers in the main event -- the single player campaign.”
