A Road trip from Karachi to Torkham ( Pakistan – Afghanistan Border ) A memorable trip with 2 of my friends ( Khurram Saeed Khan Kamran Haque ). We drove all the way from Karachi to Torkham. Alhamdullillah by the grace of Allah SWT a dream came true.Special Thanks to Yasir Khan Shinwari for his hospitality in Kohat. Splendid driving all the way from the Karachi – Hyderabad Motorway, then driving on the N-5 National Highway till Salaypat where you get to merge towards to “Sukkur – Multan M4 “ This motorway is 392 km long. It is 6 lane wide, it links to M1 ( Peshawar – Islamabad Motorwar ) We were using friends/family members for the night stays in Multan,Lahore,Peshwar,Kohat. Which saved us the boarding and lodging expense.Drive was around 7-9 hours with stop overs almost daily covering around 650 kms at an average.We used different routes making our one Side to Torkham 2,105 KmsAccording to Google Maps - 19 h 43 min (1,617.1 km)Karachi via Sukkur - Multan Motorway/M-4M-5– One Side - Multan – Hasan Abdal – Peshawar ( via Lahore-Islamabad Motorway/M-2 6 h 18 min – 535 Kms ) – One Side - Peshawar to Torkham 1 h 29 min (54.2 km) via National Hwy 5 – One Siide - Peshawar to Kohat - 1 h 57 min (71.4 km) via Dora Rd/Indus Hwy/Kohat Rd/N-55 Tolls : Sukkur – Multan ( one side ) M-4 – 670 Pakistan Rupees Fruits : Guava orchards in Kohat are known for their bestFood : Peshawar is known for Afghani Pulao ( the cuisine of the Pashtun people is covered under Afghan cuisine and Pakistani cuisine), chapli kebab, Charsi Tikka, Dumpukht, You do get fast food and Chinese/pizza. It’s a modern place.
