K Electric New Meter Issue

Hello All,
I had heard such things happening to people and now that it has happened to me i am confused what to do.

Last month K electric personnel came and changed our meters with new ones in PECHS block 2. Today i got my bill and it is 5000 PKR. The issue is that my bill has never been more than 1500 because me and my wife and working people and our use of electricity is very less. Infact i was kinda hopeful my bill would be lesser than most because this month we didnt use our inverter ac even. Below is a break up of our continuous load:

1. 1 Fan --> 20 hrs
2. 1 bulb --> 6-8 hrs
3. 1 inverter ac (1 ton) --> 3 hours max
4. 1 fridge --> 24 hrs
misc load (TV + extra bulb, fan, laptop charge, phone charge, wifi modem etc ) 8 total hrs

Above is the most that we used our appliances.

Can anybody guide what could be the issue? Usually our units are 100-125, this time they are 355. Now how did they get to 355 i odont know. And this happened only this month. We have been living here for more than 18 months and this is the first time this has happened.

yeh new meters ziada teaz chaltae ha .just for precaution also check through private electrician whether there is any kunda on your line

Alright, will do. If there is no kunda, could it be that the meter is actually fast? then this will be a permanent issue. Somebody also said that these meters run even when no electricity, i think il try switching off my main power supply to the house and see if the meter is still running.

Anyother options?

no we didn't because the one who have kunda is running for election. and no other person is willing to report them and you can't report these issue anonymously.

That is theft, and its a crime.
You should reach out to both police and KE.

i remember now telling about this kunda to k-electric worker but its still there. i will be going to their office soon when i need to pay my bill this month. just a friendly advice get another meter if your bill is 20k+ so you can divide the load and cost. it cost 30k to install 1phase new meter.

Who knows. I'll wait another month to see if its actually load issue or not.

Because we get a huge bill like this once a year, if it comes again I'll see if i can get a complain.

I've seen somewhere on Facebook that these are scam and unverified meters by WAPDA. So don't install them.

Paid it. Since we get a huge bill atleast ONCE a year.

I did a rough calculation for the things you mentioned excluding the misc. load you mentioned like tv n stuff. Your monthly energy use comes out to around 210 units. If you include all other loads and keep some margin I would say it will atleast goto 300 or could be less.

it could be near 150 in some months. My point of commenting here is Naye meter tez chaltay hain ye baat ghalat hai. agar unme koi khrabi hoto wo alag baat hai.

ap k baqi months k bill kia aye is k bad k ?
