Jump Force brings together Dragon Ball, One Piece, Death Note and more

[h=2]Shonen Jump characters Monkey D. Luffy, Naruto, Goku and more do battle[/h]

At Microsoft’s E3 conference, a new fighting game, Jump Force, was revealed.
The trailer showed off major characters from popular Shonen Jump series, likeMonkey D. Luffy of One Piece, Goku from Dragon Ball and Naruto. At the end, the backs of Light and Ryuk from Death Note was also shown, though their fighting style is unknown.
In a press release, Bandai Namco confirmed that Jump Force will be a 3-on-3 tag team fight, so players can have their favorite Jump characters team up.
The different scenes in the beginning of the trailer displayed many areas inspired by the different series, like ruined Hokage statues from Naruto and the Thousand Sunny from One Piece. The press release also confirmed that the stages in the game would take place in real world locations, like Time Square in New York City or the Matterhorn in the Alps. There is no confirmation if there will only be real world locations, or if players will also be able to fight in stages from the different series.
This is not the first time these characters have come together to duke it out in a fighting game, with J-Stars Victory VS being the last crossover game in 2014. Past Jump fighting games have included many more characters, and Bandai Namco plans on announcing them in the future.
Jump Force will be released in 2019 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

[h=1]Jump Force will let you create your own custom character[/h]

[h=2]In the style of One Piece, and perhaps other manga characters[/h]

If you’re a fan of the art style of Jump Force, the upcoming fighting game featuring characters from Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, Death Note and other Shonen Jump manga series, publisher Bandai Namco has some good news: You’ll be able to create your own character for the game.
That’s not uncommon for Bandai Namco’s anime and manga-inspired video games; the publisher let players create their own custom Dragon Ball characters in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse games, for example. But given the particular aesthetic of Jump Force, which employs a semi-realistic yet still cartoonish art style that has divided some fans, it’s going to create some interesting opportunities.
During a presentation at Bandai Namco’s headquarters in Tokyo, the publisher offered a peek at a custom female avatar modeled after One Piece’s Monkey D. Luffy. She’s wearing his familiar straw hat, shirt and facial scar.
That teaser raised the question about how extensive Jump Force’s character creator will be. So we asked, “will players be able to create their own avatar in the style of Dragon Ball, Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh, Hunter x Hunter and the rest of Jump Force’s other licensed characters?” A representative for Bandai Namco wouldn’t confirm whether that was the case when we asked, but a trio of pre-order incentive items hinted at costumes based on Dragon Ball’s Frieza, the Naruto Hokage cape and One Piece’s Gol D. Roger, so it looks like a very real possibility. That means you could potentially make your own female version of Yugi Muto with disturbingly realistic fleshy hands in Jump Force when the game comes to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One in 2019.

What’s more, Jump Force will have a handful of original characters of its own, designed by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. According to Bandai Namco, those new characters — J Force director Glover and the android known as Navigator, as well as villains Galena and Kane — will play an integral role in Jump Force’s story.
A new trailer featuring Toriyama’s original creations for Jump Force can be seen below.
