Looks like an on-rails shooter that requires the Move controllers - a recipe for disaster. Hoping it's better than what I expect, though.

EDIT: It looks like it might not be on-rails based on the description, with HMD movement controlling the direction in which you fly.

From the very first day on the project, our team in Seattle has maintained an unwavering commitment to leverage the strengths of VR while enabling players to feel like the world-famous hero. We have focused on making flying, shooting, and epic Super Hero actions feel natural and powerful on PlayStation VR.

Where the hell is that Avengers game. We were shown a teaser in 2017 with promise of more detail in 2019. We're almost in Q2 of 2019 now and nothing.

First impressions are positive.

“We’re not making a rail-shooter. We’re not making an amusement park game. We’re not making a short demo or an experimental Iron Man ‘experience,’” game developer Ryan Payton told me last week in New York City after I had finished a demo of his studio’s forthcoming game, Iron Man VR.

“We’re making a full game with a deep sandbox, with a deep story with plenty of great missions and great cinematics.”

It was comfortable to play and didn’t make me feel nauseous throughout the 20-minute demo. It allows for smooth rotational movement, which can trigger nausea in some players, but also allows for more stuttered, segmented turning movements, which tend to stave off motion sickness. The biggest hitch was the wire connecting the headset to the console sometimes getting in the way. The controls felt fine and the Move controllers kept up with what I was doing.

Thankfully they absolutely nailed the sensation of flight. As someone that doesn’t get motion sick it’s hard to tell if it will be comfortable for everyone, but the HUD and clever UI effects should help battle that vertigo feeling. Luckily for me, I went full-speed at all times and felt amazing. You position your hands much like Iron Man would then pull the PS Move controller triggers, meaning the thrusters come out of your palm, not where you point your fist. While flying this means you rest your arms at your side, hands near your waist, and twist your wrists to steer while flying. It looks ridiculous, but feels amazing.

The most impressive thing about flying and shooting for me, someone that uses all major headsets equally, is that the team at Camouflaj actually figured out a way to make PSVR 360-capable without losing tracking on the controllers. Normally you can’t turn around in PSVR because the single camera can’t see your controllers anymore. But what they’ve done here is estimated your hand position for shooting or flying and then using the accelerometer in the controller they can still track rotation. Then as soon as it’s back in view it resumes tracking. The end result is that as you’re turning or spinning to aim you don’t actually notice the split second of lost tracking like you do in other games — no controller drift or floating away or disappearing.

I was told that the game would be an 8-10 hour experience.

It feels like an actual game, built for VR, rather than a tech demo. It looks fantastic and most importantly, I felt absolutely no motion sickness which was surprising to me considering it probably involves more fast-paced movement than any game that I’ve ever played.

There could be a risk of repetitiveness, but so far, so good. I really liked what I saw, and I’m not the biggest Marvel fan, but nobody can deny the feeling of becoming Iron Man and being a complete badass in the sky.

[h=1]Iron Man VR now set for a July release date on PlayStation 4[/h]

The game was delayed due to the ongoing pandemic

ron Man VRhas a new release date. Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced on Tuesday that the game would release on July 3. It was originally slated for May, but was pushed back due to the ongoing pandemic.
Originally announced at E3 2019, Iron Man VR puts players inside Tony Stark’s iconic armor, utilizing both the PlayStation VR head mounted display and Sony’s Move motion controllers. Developed by the team at Camouflaj, early gameplay showed players flying around in a bright blue sky and shooting planes out of the air.

Iron Man VR was officially delayed in early April alongside
The Last of Us Part 2. At the time SIE said that “the global crisis is preventing us from providing the launch experience our players deserve.” Then, in late April, it was announced that The Last of Us Part 2 would be released for PlayStation 4 on June 19. Now Iron Man VR has a new release date as well.

June/July should be a busy period for lockdown gaming, starting with Xenoblade Chronicles definitive edition on the Switch towards the end of May, followed by The Last of Us Part II on the PS4 on June 19, followed by Iron Man VR on the PSVR on July 3, followed by Ghost of Tsushima on the PS4 on July 17.

[h=1]An extended Marvel’s Iron Man VR demo is out today[/h]

A PlayStation VR bundle is coming, too

Sony Interactive Entertainment added a free demo for Marvel’s Iron Man VR to the PlayStation Store on Thursday, the company announced on the PlayStation Blog. ThePlayStation VR-exclusive game will be released July 3. It was originally slated for a May launch, but was pushed back due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The demo will include the “Malibu” tutorial mission as well as the “Interactive Stark Jet cinematic starring Tony, Friday & Pepper Potts, ‘Out of the Blue’ Stark Jet gameplay mission, Flight Challenge optional mission, [and] Advanced Combat Challenge optional mission,” according to Sony. The company described the demo as a “small slice of the main game,” but enough to get the player really feeling like Tony Stark. Players that boot up and play the free demo will get an exclusive armor decoration after purchasing the full game.
Sony also announced a new PlayStation VR bundle with Marvel’s Iron Man VR, which will cost $349.99. Pre-orders open Thursday. The bundle includes a physical copy of the game, a PlayStation VR headset, two PlayStation Move motion controllers, a PlayStation Camera, and a PSVR demo disc.
Marvel’s Iron Man VR is developed by Camouflaj, the folks behind République andRépublique VR. In April 2019, Camouflaj founder Ryan Payton told Polygon the game will be “a real big VR game,” but not as long as a “standard flatscreen [game].”

Hype for this has been rather low ever since it got delayed. The demo was well-received, but wondering how the final release will fare.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
