my work includes:

web browsing

movies.

at maximum ill be doing browing and have photoshop and deammweaver running at the same time.

i want to know

will a netbook be able to hand such a heavy load without slowing down and annoying me?

coz when i use photoshop and dreamweaver on a 3.0ghz p4 it starts slowing down.

Notebook nope.
Laptop it all depends how much your budget is, if you go for top of the line like dell XPS series with ample RAM I have my doubts that you ll have slowing down problems.
I have an HP with ATI Radeon, 8 gigs of RAM and a T7550 CPU. The applications I use simultaneously are Protel (an ECAD software) , Proteus VSM (also ECAD and simulation software) and MPLAB, along outlook etc. I never have had any experience of slowing down.
Laptop performance can go as far as your budget goes.

Netbook will be good only for two of your requirements, web browsing and movies. They are not powerful enough to run heavy applications (for them photoshop is a VERY heavy application). Like ps3linux said, get a good laptop.

Karachi.
Core2Duo Laptops are also good if you are short on money to buy an i5 or i3 Laptop.
I am using an Athlon II x2 running @ 2.0 GHz, and it does the job well. I got it from Canada for 400 CAD. Cheap.
