Finished it last night!

Man, it is most definitely worthy of GOTY this year.

Elden Ring has genuine competition!

Overall, story-wise .. no issues at all, it's perfect!

Combat-wise, they could do better with the generic enemies, they are more damaging than the actuall bosses.

Speaking of the boss fights, no issues there, all of them are super fun!

It almost feels like they only paid attention to the boss fights combat-wise & the other encounters are just thrown out at the player.

Anyways, wattay awesome experience!! Absolutely loved it!

Oh, I finished it too. Such an uneventful and boring ass conclusion. The game's pacing is all over the place.

Despite being better than the awful boss fights from the last game, the ones here were somewhat disappointing. They were too set-piece-y for the sake of 'ZOMG ma' cinematic moment!'. You want great and memorable boss fights? Go play Elden RIng or Bayonetta 3.

Spoiler: show
The fight against Thor was like...that's it? lol they did the dumbass dirty.

The fight against Odin didn't really feel like a final boss fight. There wasn't much variety in his attacks, and the whole needing to switch weapons to deal elemental damage and break posture (or whatever this game calls it) is such a worn out mechanic.

Nevertheless, the Atreus sections were fun to play., and the slow-mo properties that could be applied to his attacks were pretty cool.

One other thing I liked about the combat is enemies getting staggered on wall splat. More melee-based action games need to do this! I think Sifu and a few others do, but most don't.

Though, even more so than in the previous game, the awkward tank controls took a lot away from the combat due to quicker enemies. Sure, there's a 180 degree quick turn, but what if I want to do a quick 150 degree turn? Should've had Kratos turn towards the direction of movement, with tank controls only enabled while aiming with the axe etc.

Side quests are better than the main quest. That Washington Post editor wasn't kidding.

Also, this:

My patience for these cinematic, narrative-driven games is wearing thin 🤦‍♂️

Nevertheless, all things considered, I'll give the game a 7 or 8 for the overall experience. Better than the 2018 game. Wouldn't replay tho.

CerebralTiger wants us to believe that he thought GoW 2018 is a "5 or a 6 out of 10" for him? LMFAOO. I'd totally believe that if it was ever posted back then. But then, he was sure if it remain a PS exclusive. Hilaaaarious 😂

CerebralTiger admitting mouse controls are superior 😱

Mouse controls combined with the Nvidia Reflex should make it much better accessibility wise!

The problem is the constant assault from off-screen, especially ranged projectiles & the spongy nature of the genric enemies!

Even a regular hick will not stagger from your attacks & will attack you unless you juggle them!

But then you have to constantly break your combo chain & reset due to the yellow & red counter bullshit!

Atreus isi liye feels better especially with the Ingrid Sword! You have better spacing options as him.

Also, this has absolutely nothing to do with the "cinematic, narrative driven" aspect of games. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Easily the worst take ive read in a long time, and thats saying something considering its coming from CerebralTiger 😅

Finished this over the weekend.

Solid game, not as good as 2018. The pacing is all over the place and the last 20% of the narrative crams in so much in such a quick way, it feels like they decided 80% of the way through development that they want to finish the nordic saga and just shoved in the outline for the third game entirely within.

it's the same issue TLoU 2's final Santa Barbara chapter had. It felt like it was either something meant for a sequel or expansion shoved in as a big extra final chapter.

I, too finished it over the weekend.

Really solid outing for Kratos and co. A solid 8.5.
Some mis-steps in pacing and some annoying character dialogue, specially when solving puzzles, apart, overall a great game.

I agree with Chandoo, the ending felt rushed.
I dont understand why they didnt treat both Thor and Odin like they treated Baldor in GOW 2018. Multiple epic fights and excellent character expositionn.

Not looking good for that year long wait, Necrokiller. Even the biggest GoW fans on Pakgamers are left somewhat disappointed 🤷‍♂️

CerebralTiger admitting mouse controls are superior 😱
I mean, for melee action game that severely lacks mobility and has awkward controls? Sure 🤷‍♂️

Now excuse me as I begin my 2nd playthrough of Bayonetta 3 using the DualSense controller 🤜

Reading comprehension, Necrokiller. Don't be good, be better :ROFLMAO:

Didn't say that the loudmouth hint giving NPCs are directly related to the game being cinematic and narrative driven. But it's a fact that these type of games, especially from PlayStation, are often the biggest culprit in this regard, so the design sensibilities must overlap somewhere. Pick any recent Guerrilla Games, Santa Monica Studio, or Naughty Dog game 🤷‍♂️

Imagine not even understanding the core issue, doubling down on a hot take and blaming it on reading comprehension. Yikes!

Bodes well for me actually. My opinion hardly aligns with theirs on everything. Can't wait 🤜🤣

I really liked Odin's characterization, as some reviews have pointed out, he's not an "mwahahah I'm evil" villain.

He's more like a mobster in Sapranos, with his implicit threats and demeanor.

Also, the people moanin' about the side characters back-seating the game puzzles for the player are damn hypocrites!

This shit started in Forbidden West, I don't see them complainin' in that thread, why here?!

Just *insert relevant people here* things :p

^ I mentioned Forbidden West in my post. It's an even bigger offender than this game lol.

Imagine not even understanding the core issue, doubling down on a hot take and blaming it on reading comprehension. Yikes!
Imagine not even having played the game and claiming to "understand" the core issuoooe. Yikes! :ROFLMAO:

Wonder if lulzonetta 3 will reach this in its lifetime :ROFLMAO:
Wonder if MW2 is the best game this year for Necrokiller based on this metric :ROFLMAO:

I mean, this game isn't the first "offender". And that's a very well made video on it. Try watching it. May even end up understanding some of it 🤣

Imagine thinking the person who made you aware of the existence of this channel hasn't seen the video in question :ROFLMAO:

The video discusses hurdles between the art and design teams, but also points out the lack of an accessibility setting to disable these "hints". Moreover, design and art teams at other studios work just fine without such hurdles. Games like Breath of the Wold or Elden Ring convey hints through their environments, but then those games are in a different league from Tractor of War 🤷‍♂️
