[h=2]October’s Games with Gold progam gives Xbox fans the The Walking Dead and more[/h]

Next month, Xbox Live Gold members on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 will receive four free games, thanks to the Games with Gold program.

Available for download to Xbox One owners is Valiant Hearts: The Great War. That game will be given away throughout October, and it will be joined by the first season of The Walking Dead on Oct. 16. The latter game can be downloaded until Nov. 15.
The Metal Gear Solid 5 prologue Ground Zeroes is free from Oct. 1 until Oct. 15 on the Xbox 360. After that, Gold members will also be able to try out The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season. There is a shorter window for Gold members on the elder console, however: The free download ends on Halloween.
All Games with Gold downloads on the Xbox 360 will be backward-compatible with the Xbox One. Microsoft announced that news at Gamescom 2015. Backward compatibility between the two systems will roll out starting in November.

[h=2]NBA 2K16 is free for the weekend for Xbox One Gold subscribers[/h]

NBA 2K16, the latest edition of 2K Sports' long acclaimed basketball simulation, will be available free in its entirety this weekend to Xbox Live Gold subscribers with an Xbox One.
The promotion is part of Xbox Live Gold's Free Play Days, and will run from noon ET on Friday, Nov. 20 to 2:59 a.m. ET on Monday, Nov. 23.

NBA 2K16 is currently Metacritic's highest-rated sports video game for consoles this year, tied with Pro Evolution Soccer 2016. All modes of the game are available, including "Livin' Da Dream," the narrative prologue to NBA 2K16's MyCareer mode, and the new 2K Pro-Am mode of cooperative/competitive online multiplayer.
NBA 2K16 will be offered at discount during and after the free-play period for those who want to continue their progress. All game save files will carry over, and buying the game will not require a redownload of it. That's good, as NBA 2K16 is a 44.86 GB download on Xbox One.

[h=2]Xbox Games With Gold brings you Thief, Operation Flashpoint and more in December[/h]

Microsoft is closing out 2015 with a relatively weak Games With Gold lineup next month, although Xbox Live Gold subscribers will get a fifth free game as an "extra gift for the holidays," the company announced today.
December will kick off with NeocoreGames' The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing (regularly $14.99), which will be available free all month long on Xbox One. The second Xbox One game will be Thief (reg. $29.99), Eidos Montreal's franchise reboot from 2014, which will be free for a month from Dec. 16, 2015, to Jan. 15, 2016.

Xbox 360-owning Gold subscribers will be able to download Zen Studios' CastleStorm (reg. $9.99) from Dec. 1-15. [h=2]Xbox Live already tips off a free game for the next month[/h][h=3]Earthlock: Festival of Magic premieres for free on the console[/h]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=j1rB5pKSxfk

One of Xbox Live's Games with Gold for September will be Earthlock: Festival of Magic, a western-themed adventure with origins in the turn-based role-playing games made great by Japanese developers.
Earthlock's launch trailer is above, excerpting the game's combat, cutscenes and voice-bubble dialogue. Snowcastle Games, a Norwegian studio, is the developer, and the game showcases nordic themes. Earthlock began as a crowdfunded project in 2013, coming to fruition now.

Snowcastle announced Earthlock's Sept. 1 launch date back in July, saying that versions for PlayStation 4 and Wii U would follow "a month or two" after the Windows PC and Xbox One launch.

[h=1]Here are your Xbox Games With Gold titles for October[/h]

[h=2]Step up to the plate[/h]

Microsoft’s Games With Gold lineup for October is a sports-heavy one, with two of the four games on offer being sports titles, the company announced today.
The highlight of the bunch is Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings, the re-release of the baseball game from indie studio Metalhead Software that debuted to critical acclaim on PlayStation in late 2014. That year, we gave it our Sports Game of the Year award, and this port offers additional content. Regularly priced at $19.99, Super Mega Baseball will be free on Xbox One all month long.
MX vs. ATV Reflex from Rainbow Studios is the other sports game in October. Originally released in 2009 and currently priced at $29.99, it will be available free from Oct. 16-31 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
On the non-sports side, Microsoft is offering I Am Alive (reg. $14.99), the survival game from Ubisoft Shanghai, for free on Xbox 360 and Xbox One during the first half of the month. Finally, The Escapists (reg. $19.99), the lighthearted prison escape game from Team17, will be available free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers from Oct. 16 through Nov. 15.

In the meantime, you can still get a few of the September games for free.

[h=1]These are Xbox Live's Games With Gold for November[/h]

[h=2]This Thanksgiving, be thankful for these games — well, some of them[/h]

The next set of Games With Gold for Xbox Live members arrives next Tuesday, Nov. 1, and November's foursome leaves something to be desired. Four games, two on Xbox One and two on Xbox 360, are on offer through the end of the month, from an old-school adventure game to a game launching in time for the promotion.
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon lead the Xbox 360 giveaways. Each one is backward compatible with Xbox One, like all recent Xbox 360 titles in the Games With Gold line-up. The former is an overhaul of a beloved '90s classic, while the latter is an homage to all things '80s and garish, making for an interesting pairing. Monkey Island is available from Nov. 1-15, while Blood Dragon is up for grabs Nov. 16-30.
On Xbox One are Super Dungeon Bros., a local multiplayer game that will launch this November, just in time for the giveaway. Xbox Live subscribers can grab it all month, while the mystery adventure game Murdered: Soul Suspect will also be available to download from Nov. 16-Dec. 15.
It's not the most exciting month, although the Xbox 360 games should delight some diehards. A handful of titles from October's promotion remain available in the meantime, including MX vs. ATV Reflex and The Escapists.

[h=1]Burnout Paradise, Sleeping Dogs lead December’s Xbox Games With Gold[/h]

[h=2]Burnout Paradise joins the Xbox backward compatibility list[/h]

Microsoft is closing out a miserable year for the world with a stellar Xbox Games With Gold lineup, bringing two heavy hitters for the month of December in Burnout Paradise and Sleeping Dogs, the company announced today.
Criterion Games’ Burnout Paradise has been a highly requested Xbox backward compatibility title since the program was announced at E3 2015, and the studio said way back in October 2015 that support for the game was “in the pipe.” The crash-tastic open-world racer, which was originally released on PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360 in January 2008, will be available free on Games With Gold from Dec. 16-31 — and all Xbox 360 Games With Gold titles are now playable on Xbox One.
The backward-compatible game for the first half of December will be Outland, the light-and-dark-based platformer from Housemarque that debuted on Xbox Live Arcade in April 2011. The Xbox One port of Sleeping Dogs, the beloved open-world action game from the now-defunct United Front Games, will be available free for the entire month of December. United Front launched Sleeping Dogs on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 back in August 2012, and was reportedly working on a sequel that was canceled in 2013.
Outlast, the first-person survival horror game from Red Barrels, will be the second Xbox One Games With Gold title for December. It will be available free from Dec. 16 through Jan. 15, 2017. As always, all four games are available only to Xbox Live Gold subscribers. For now, you can check out the November lineup.

Xbox Games With Gold starts 2017 with Rayman Origins, Killer Instinct

Goodbye, 2016

In tumultuous times such as these, you can at least rely on a few sure things: The sun will rise in the east every morning, traveling during the holidays will be a nightmare, and Microsoft and Sony will offer free games to customers who subscribe to their respective online services. January 2017 will be no different, with Xbox Live Gold members getting access to four games as part of their subscription.
Xbox One owners will be able to download Neocore Games’ World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap (regularly $19.99) all month long, and the Ultra Edition of Iron Galaxy Studios’ Killer Instinct Season 2 (reg. $39.99) from Jan. 16 through Feb. 15.
On the Xbox 360, players will get the Double Fine adventure game The Cave (reg. $14.99) from Jan. 1-15 and the classic Ubisoft Montpellier platformer Rayman Origins (reg. $14.99) from Jan. 16-31.
Until 2017 rolls around and hope springs anew for a fresh start, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can check out the impressive December Games With Gold lineup.
