Friend is gifting me his old graphics card, he lives in USA and has offered to cover shipping fees. I am curious what I need to know regarding customs and clearing customs and how I can go about without getting it seized or something?

Regards.

just tell him to declare value as low as possible and dont fedex or dhl it, they would put big taxes on it. local usps post only with priority shipping and tracking.

Thank you very much for the replying. A few questions:

1. What kind of charges for fedex would you estimate? As he's saying that due to the US government's actions USPS is unrelaible presently.

2. If we were to go with usps what timeline am I looking at? Will I still need to get customs cleared by myself? What would the procedure for that be along with costs?

Again, thank you so much for taking out the time and I hope you bear with me with these questions as this is is my first time doing something like this.

currently usps is facing issues in the usa while our local post office is dead slow as well. so unless ur in a hurry than do fedex or dhl but they would charge amount based on whatever they find on the internet the price for the said item. its 25 pecent of invoice plus sales tax etc. roughly you'd be paying either 50 or 100 percent of the tax on the said item.

Understood, thank you. We've decided to go with USPS.

For this part are you speaking regarding customs even if we went with the pakistan post office? It's a used GTX 1080 will I still be paying 50-100% tax? As the customs website on FBR said 3%. What kinds of documents would my friend need to supply when sending the item?

Again, thank you very much for taking out the time!

if a friend is sending just ask him to send as GIFT and declare no value at all or if have to than very little. they would put tax on the shipping amount yes shipping account is included in the invoice thing and the invoice that is put on the item. that so its going to be 25percent duty, 25 percent sales tax and a further 10percent additionaltax if its a website purchase but if a friend sends it than it go under the gift scheme and they might not put anything on it
