What are the guys at Square Enix smoking lmao. Why call it remake then. Btw never heard about this on the net.
It's a literal remake of the story, not the game.

Tifa is basically the most aesthetically pleasing female lead I ever saw in any game. I mean, FF7 original was just pixels, but if you compare the artwork.

I just saw some cutscenes on youtube and dayuum boi this is hot shit :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: It's completely different from those JRPG cliche heroines that are annoying and stick to you a lot and are more open to their feelings. I like the subtlety.I haven't played the whole game but if that's how she is all game the props to the devs.

On second thought iirc Advent Children Tifa was more subtle than the one in this remake. Or perhaps it's just my imagination. Still better than most jrpg heroines though.

They should have just called if Final Fantasy VII. Not even any need for a subtitle.

Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes don't use the remake moniker and it's fine.

There aren't many games like that on second thought. The only other game I can remember that did the romance in a way that wasn't cringy and off-putting but more subtle was The Last Story for wii.

The nature of romance in anime itself has evolved quite a lot and went towards the cringy side. You rarely see new anime doing the romance right. On the other hand we have the classics such as, Seikai no senki, Lovely Complex, Cross Game, Clannad perhaps.

Okay, so there are a few things I didn't like.

- can't switch between Cloud's combat modes during an attack chain
- dealing with aerial enemies as Cloud is awkward. The lack of a jump button doesn't help.
- evade doesn't seem to have enough i-frames
- Barrett's VO can get pretty annoying. Same goes for the girl who has a crush on Cloud.
- textures loading late during cutscenes, UE4 game and all.

Everything else is incredible. Switching between characters on-the-fly during combat is super cool and gives it some much-needed depth.

The jump is automated, you can take out airborne enemies easily! Keep mashing attack or knock them down with a spell.

Also, you can switch between cloud's attack modes mid combat, there is a ability that does that. Even regular chain of attack can be switched in the ps5 version, although it is not as smooth as dmc but it is possible.

^ yes, what Radical said is absolutely correct. Those impressions of mine were from the pre-release demo, where the combat hadn't really opened up.

The jump is indeed automated, and all you need to do is lock on to an aerial enemy and Cloud takes off to fight them mid-air. The verticality is there, just without a jump button, which is no issue here. You're in control of 4 character, and constantly switching between them in combat. Cloud can switch between stances while attacking and also cancel out of them via parry. The system works, and it works damn well.

Also, Yuffie's combat is super fun.

That's true, but it's still much better than a Tank of War situation lol. You aren't controlling like 4 characters in combat in the latter. Here, you're constantly switching up between characters with unique move sets to gain a situational advantage over the enemy. It's the closest thing to a real-time take on party-based combat systems found in JRPGs. As such, there are already a large number of commands mapped to the controller.

Although I would welcome a jump button in Part 2, I can see it being of limited utility in combat due to the automated jump 🤷‍♂️

Time for Necrokiller to Dex Pass it and critically analyze the role of nostalgia in FFVII Remake 🤣

Besides, there is an insane amount of depth to the combat in God of War. Its Bayonetta now yo :ROFLMAO:

    I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
