Universal has pushed the release date for Fast & Furious 9 back to April 10th, 2020, taking the spot that the studio was previously reserving for the animated sequel Trolls 2. The latter will instead be arriving two months earlier than previously-scheduled on Valentine’s Day of that year (the same date that 20th Century Fox currently has reserved for its animated Nimona comic book movie adaptation to hit theaters).
The future of the Fast & Furious franchise is somewhat up in the air at the moment. While Universal’s official plan is still to release two more mainline Fast & Furious movies to complete the trilogy that was set in motion by this year’s The Fate of the Furious and then call it a day, there have been multiple reports of a spinoff featuring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jason Statham’s Fast & Furious characters (Luke Hobbes and Deckard Shaw, respectively) having entered active development, following the release of Fate of the Furious. Now that the next installment in the main Fast & Furious saga has been pushed back by a year, does that mean a Rock/Statham-led spinoff will be arriving first, in 2019?

According to Variety, Universal has yet to provide an official explanation for why Fast & Furious 9 has been pushed back from its original April 19th, 2019 release date. Although it’s possible that the move was made in order to create room for The Rock’s spinoff film to hit theaters first, there are other factors that count account for this shift in release dates.

Although The Rock and Vin Diesel are both reportedly set to return for Fast & Furious 9 (setting their reported beef during the production of Fate of the Furious behind them), they are only longtime Fast & Furious cast members who appear to be locked-in for the next installment at the moment. Michelle Rodriguez has indicated that she won’t return for the ninth Fast & Furious film unless she and the franchise’s other female stars are given more substantial roles this time around (something that Diesel has publicly voiced his support for), while Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray has remained noncommittal about returning to helm the next chapter in the Fast & Furious saga.
With no director in place yet and even some longtime Fast & Furious cast members expressing their frustrations with the creative direction of the series, it’s possible that Universal pushed Fast & Furious 9 back simply to allow themselves more breathing room to work out these behind the scenes complications before production on the movie begins. Although reviews for Fate of the Furious weren’t as generally enthusiastic as they have been for previous installments in the series, the movie was still mostly well-received and grossed $1.24 billion worldwide in theaters. For those reasons alone, it’s safe to assume that Fast & Furious 9 will happen eventually… even if The Rock and The Stath wind up hosting their private party together first.

[h=1]Fast & Furious 9: Justin Lin May Return to Direct[/h]

Justin Lin may get back behind the camera for Fast & Furious 9, based on early reports. For a franchise that started off as a simple story about cars and family, Fast & Furious has grown to become one of the biggest franchises in all of Hollywood. In part of their rise, they’ve continued to attract new and big talent both in front of and behind the camera. Some of this stardom may be the cause for rifts within the “family” as the main line of films has been delayed in favor of a spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
The push for Hobbs’ spinoff, Fast & Furious 9 was recently delayed a full year to 2020. While Tyrese Gibson has already put the blame on Johnson for this delay, Universal is still moving forward with another installment in the franchise that will star all of the familiar characters. Not only that, but it now appears as though it may feature a familiar director as well.

THR is reporting that Justin Lin may be being lined up to return and direct Fast & Furious 9. This would mark his fifth entry in the long running franchise, but the first since Fast & Furious 6. He has stayed busy however, as he recently directed Star Trek Beyond for Paramount. But, with a slate of projects with unknown futures, it looks like he may jump in the driver’s seat of this franchise one more time.

While recent directors James Wan and F. Gary Gray have further elevated the franchise to new heights, Lin was key in developing and growing the franchise. Even though he is responsible for Tokyo Drift, he also was the one to deliver arguably the franchise’s best installment with Fast Five. By moving the franchise away from just street racing, and leaning more into the insanity of the concept, the franchise has gone on to incredible success.
Bringing Lin back would not only be a move likely welcomed by the franchise’s fans, but also one from its expanding cast. With public feuds continuing to rise, bringing in a calming and familiar face like Lin may be exactly what the franchise needs to keep it all together. Gibson’s recent beef with Johnson is just the latest in family drama for the franchise, following Vin Diesel and Johnson’s spat during The Fate of the Furious and then Michelle Rodriguez’s call for better female roles. Lin could help keep things civil upon his return, or he could view these continued distractions as reasons not to do the project. With it still being early in the process, it may take some time to learn whether or not he will return.

[h=1]Vin Diesel Responds to Fast & Furious Delay, Says ‘Stay Positive’[/h]

Vin Diesel has responded to news that Fast & Furious 9 is being delayed a year while Dwayne Johnson focuses on making a franchise spinoff co-starring Jason Statham. The decision to push back a ninth core Fast & Furious film to 2020 has been met with criticism not only from fans but also some of the film’s stars, including Tyrese Gibson who spoke out against Dwayne Johnson in a recent Instagram post.
Johnson has responded to the criticism coming his way from Gibson and others over the Fast & Furious 9 delay, insisting he just wants to make a fun movie and “build out the franchise.” Nevertheless, Johnson continues to be accused of hijacking the franchise while long-standing series stars like Vin Diesel are pushed off to the side. Diesel and Johnson have long been involved in a simmering feud, with Johnson once calling out Diesel on social media for being a “candy-ass.”
[h=4]Related: Why Did the Rock & Vin Diesel Feud on Fate of the Furious?[/h]With Johnson, Gibson and others having already weighed in on the controversy, it’s now Vin Diesel’s turn to break his silence and give his two cents. Considering his prior beef with Johnson, you might expect Diesel to have strong words for his co-star, but in fact Diesel is out there playing peacemaker. In a Facebook post from his private jet, with his Fast & Furious co-star Ludacris in tow, Diesel called on everyone to tone down the war of words and keep things upbeat:
Keep it all positive out there. We love everybody. We’re so proud of the Fast franchise and the fans.

Diesel went even farther in an Instagram post, saying it’s “unfair” to blame anyone for the Fast & Furious delay.

Brotherhood... and all it's complexities. This scene was filmed in Puerto Rico, I can remember it like it was yesterday. Such a beautiful island, the people were so warm and welcoming. I turned 43 that summer... and my son Vincent was born. A woman named Jan Kelly responded to a question I had asked on Facebook, 'who they would like to see me work with?' She said would love to see me work with Dwayne... I listened to her request and he became Hobbs. I know there has been a lot of speculation as to why the Fast 9 release date was pushed... but it would be unfair to say it is anyone's fault. As we plot the course to expand the Fast & Furious universe, one must be mindful to take stock of the roads we took to get here. The pillars of authenticity, family and most importantly, our loyal fan’s perspective has been instrumental in procuring success. However, like any vehicle that has run around the globe 8 times, the franchise is in need of maintenance. My good friend and the godfather of Universal, Ron Meyer has granted me the time to do just that. We have some very exciting news to share soon... stay tuned. Yours truly, Dom #FamilyAlways
A post shared by Vin Diesel (@vindiesel) on Oct 6, 2017 at 8:15pm PDT

Diesel clearly is not interested in getting involved in any further beef with Dwayne Johnson over which of them is the Alpha Male in the Fast & Furious universe. Diesel may be an actor with a lot of pride, and may not be the biggest The Rock fan at the end of the day, but he is also a producer who has a major financial stake in the franchise going forward. A little public beef might help from a promotional standpoint but when fans get too invested in the negativity it doesn’t do anyone any good, so it’s probably the proper grown-up move for Diesel to step in and try to put out the fire.
Fans may be irritated that they will have to wait an extra year for Fast & Furious 9, but at least they have the consolation of a spinoff film coming in the meantime. With action movie maven Shane Black reportedly being pursued to direct, the spinoff should provide all the same thrills that the core Fast & Furious movies have always delivered (just without most of the regular cast). Unlike a lot of other long-running franchises that seem to be running out of steam, Fast & Furious appears to still be roaring full-speed ahead, and Universal would like to keep it that way.

[h=1]Fast & Furious 9: Jordana Brewster Returning; Justin Lin To Direct[/h]

It looks like two important members of the Fast & Furious “family” – director Justin Lin and star Jordana Brewster – will be returning for the forthcoming Fast & Furious 9. Lin is often credited with evolving the series from a street racing saga and into one of the biggest action franchises on the planet. He helmed parts three to six, with each new chapter pushing the envelope in terms of action and spectacle.
Lin bowed out after the sixth movie, going on to helm Star Trek Beyond; his name is currently linked to an adaptation of the cult manga Lone Wolf And Cub. James Wan was behind the wheel on Fast & Furious 7, with F. Gary Gray taking over for the most recent entry. The series is set to call it a day on the tenth movie, and recent reports linked Justin Lin to the director’s chair.

On a new Facebook Live chat Vin Diesel all but confirmed this, taking a video of himself, Lin and actress Jordana Brewster on a “top secret” set. On the video Diesel first introduces the director, crediting him with resurrecting the whole saga, before talking with Brewster about her return, after her character Mia sat out the eighth movie. According to EW, Lin is in “advanced talks” for the director’s chair, though the video makes it look like a done deal.

Lin’s return for parts nine and ten will no doubt make fans of the series happy. The director is able to perfectly balance the crazy action setpieces, and mix with a healthy dose of cheesy drama and humor too. It’s unknown how Mia’s character will be brought into the story as her character is married to Brian, who was played by the late Paul Walker. The seventh movie ended with Brian retiring to be with Mia and their child, so if she returns Brian’s absence will need to be addressed somehow.
Lin and Brewster’s return is happy news for the franchise, following a much-publicized spat between Fast & Furious co-stars Tyrese and The Rock. The latter will be starring in a spinoff movie featuring his character Hobbs, who will be teaming up with Jason Statham’s Shaw for a new adventure. This caused Fast & Furious 9 to be pushed to 2020, leading to Tyrese calling out his co-star and labeling him “selfish” for the move. This, combined with onset tensions between The Rock and Diesel during filming on the eighth movie, made it seem like relations between the Fast family was a little strained. Lin and Brewster’s comeback for Fast & Furious 9 should do a lot to calm those concerns.

[h=1]Tyrese Won’t Return for Fast & Furious 9 If The Rock Stars[/h]

Tyrese Gibson is refusing to come back for Fast & Furious 9 if Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson appears in the film. This is the latest escalation in the actor’s war of words with his co-star. The first sign of trouble between the two happened when Tyrese took to social media to publicly plea with The Rock not to star in a spin-off featuring his character Hobbs. Nonetheless, a Hobbs solo movie was announced shortly after, and Fast & Furious 9 was then pushed back to 2020.
Since then, Tyrese has called out The Rock on several occasions, calling the actor “selfish” for his actions. Tyrese also claims to have previously turned down a spin-off adventure featuring his character Roman and Tej, played by Lucadris. Despite Vin Diesel coming out and stating the delay of the next chapter is nobody’s fault, Tyrese’s anger over the situation shows no sign of cooling down yet.

The actor has now taken to his Instagram account to declare that if The Rock appears in Fast & Furious 9, then he won’t. Gibson’s Roman Pierce is a popular character within the franchise, often serving as comic relief. Despite his obvious passion for the series, Gibson feels so strongly about The Rock situation that he’s willing to leave. You can read his full comment below:

Hello world.......... hello loyal fans and loved ones from OUR fast universe........ I’m sorry to announce that if Dewayne is in Fast9 there will no more Roman Peirce - You mess with family and my daughters survival I mess with yours......... close your eyes dude you’re a “Clown”...... #CandyAssBitchMade All my real one.... Men on integrity... my real ones out here stand UP...... folks that GP to the gym and get big naturally #NoJuice #NoOJ spin off huh? Spin off these nuts selfish champ...... pause notice who’s got his arms around my shoulder and who’s standing alone - #OurChildrenMatter

While a Hobbs solo movie has been rumored ever since the character debuted in Fast Five, talk heated up following this year’s The Fate of the Furious. The Rock shared such good chemistry with co-star Jason Statham that a post-credit scene was filmed that hinted at the two characters teaming up for another adventure. The scene was removed from Fate of the Furious – apparently at the behest of star/producer Vin Diesel – but it’s been confirmed this new movie will focus on Hobbs and Statham’s Deckard.
Diesel and The Rock seemingly had a rough experience working together on Fast 8 too, with the latter calling out his co-star for his behavior onset. For his part, Diesel seems to be trying to reassure fans the series is in good hands. He recently released a video that all but confirmed director Justin Lin and Jordana Brewster will be returning for the next two entries.
Hopefully, the situation between Tyrese and The Rock will calm down between now and 2020. Fans would love to see both characters returning for Fast & Furious 9 – rather than see this public spat escalate even further.

[h=1]Tyrese’s Fast & Furious Feud With The Rock Is Over[/h]

Tyrese Gibson has put an end to his Fast & Furious feud with The Rock, after talking it out with one of Dwayne Johnson’s associates. The pair’s very public face-off began shortly after Fast & Furious 9 was pushed back to 2020. It will be preceded in 2019 by a spinoff film starring Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw.
Gibson was quick to slam The Rock, calling out the former wrestler and posturing on whether a Hobbs-centric film would be “another Baywatch.” Never one to quietly take a beating, The Rock retaliated by slamming Gibson’s latest album. This only made matters worse, prompting Gibson to lash out again, saying, “I just got a problem with Dwayne; it appears he’s being selfish. It appears that he’s so focused on furthering his own self-interest”.

Vin Diesel tried to calm the situation down, saying the delay isn’t anyone’s fault, but Gibson wasn’t having any of it. Yesterday, Gibson insulted The Rock again, calling him a “clown”, among other things. Gibson made it clear that, if The Rock is in Fast & Furious 9, he doesn’t want to be. Now, after having talked it out with one of Johnson’s associates, Gibson appears to have calmed down:
–
The Rock’s associate succeeded in convincing Gibson to stop the feud. Gibson’s statement – posted alongside a picture of him, Johnson and Diesel sharing a friendly embrace – explains that a lengthy “heart to heart” was had between Gibson and The Rock’s unnamed associate, whom Gibson expresses “respect” for. Gibson even showed some enthusiasm for Fast and Furious 9, which has attached franchise veteran Justin Lin as its director.
However, you’ll notice that Gibson hasn’t apologized for anything he said; nor has he expressed any respect for The Rock himself. Gibson still refers to Johnson as the misspelled “Dewayne” in his post. He also says “My story will never change” and “I was never DJ’s co-star.” Reading between the lines, it’s easy to assume there is still some resentment there. Still, Gibson has decided to let the public feud die, which is probably a wise move on his part.
This Fast & Furious feud has been weird to watch, but it seems to be over, at least for the time being. It will be interesting to see what kind of relationship The Rock and Gibson have when Fast & Furious 9 eventually starts filming.

[h=1]Fast & Furious 9 Expected To Start Filming In April 2019[/h]

Dominic Toretto and his family will ride again next year, when production on Fast & Furious 9 gets underway in April. The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters in 2019, but was pushed back a year in order to make room for the as-yet untitled Fast & Furious spinoff movie spearheaded by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. Fast & Furious 9 is now slated to arrive in Spring 2020, instead.
Although Fast & Furious 9 is the first installment in the street racing-turned global action franchise written by Daniel Casey (Kin), it also features a familiar face at the helm, in the form of Justin Lin. The latter has directed four Fast & Furious movies already, but stepped away from the series after 2013's Fast & Furious 6 to go work on other projects, including the movie sequel Star Trek Beyond and the TV show pilots for Scorpion, S.W.A.T., and theMagnum P.I. reboot.

GWW is reporting that Universal and Lin will begin shooting Fast & Furious 9 on April 20, 2019, with the franchise's longtime cinematographer Stephen F. Windon already in place to return. Dominic Toretto himself, Vin Diesel, previously claimed that Lin is committed todirecting both Fast & Furious 9 and Fast 10, but neither the filmmaker nor Universal have confirmed that news yet. Similarly, it was once reported that the next two Fast & Furiousmovies would shoot back to back (with Fast 10 serving as the franchise's conclusion), but that no longer appears to be the plan.

Last year's The Fate of the Furious concluded with the villain Cipher (Charlize Theron) evading capture, so it stands to reason that Fast & Furious 9 will pick up that story thread.Fate of the Furious also set the stage for Dominic and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) to raise Dom's young son Brian as their own, after Brian's birth mother - and Dom's former lover - Elena (Elsa Pataky) was killed by Cipher and her crew. Diesel has announced that Dom's sister
Mia (Jordana Brewster) will appear in Fast & Furious 9, which further suggests the movie will spend some time on the Toretto family's homelife, before they head out on their next globe-trotting adventure.

However, it's looking more and more likely that Johnson's Luke Hobbs won't be coming along for the ride, this time. It's public knowledge now that Johnson and Diesel clashed while filmingFate of the Furious, before series costar Tyrese Gibson engaged in a series of social media posts criticizing The Rock last year. Johnson has since indicated that the Fast & Furiousspinoff is his main priority, but has remained vague when it comes to his potential return forFast & Furious 9.
Beyond that, though, Johnson may simply be too busy to participate in Fast & Furious 9, when it begins principal photography next spring. The actor is slated to film both Jumanji 3and the action-thriller Red Notice in the first half of 2019, before potentially shooting DC'sBlack Adam movie in the latter part of the year. Hence, even if Hobbs does show up in the ninth Fast adventure, it probably won't be for more than a glorified cameo.

[h=1]Fast and Furious Spinoff Casts Baby Driver's Eiza González[/h]

Eiza González is the newest star of Universal's Hobbs and Shaw, the first spinoff in the Fast & Furious franchise. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham have made for memorable additions to the universe in recent installments, but now the rivals are going to help welcome more characters to the growing franchise.
The spinoff brings Johnson and Statham back in their respective roles of Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw after fans of the nitrous-infused franchise got a taste of their chemistry in The Fate of the Furious. For the purposes of the new film, they've put their differences and pasts behind them to work together in some fashion. Plot details on the spinoff are limited, but it is known that Idris Elba will be the film's main villain. Director David Leitch (Deadpool 2) has been heading up the shoot for the last several weeks and his cast is now suddenly expanding.

Variety reports Eiza González is joining the cast of Hobbs and Shaw, which the actress has already taken to social media to confirm. There are currently no details on González's character, but the report notes that her inclusion is "last-minute" after execs at Universal were impressed by her. González joining Hobbs and Shaw is just the latest in a long line of new projects for the rising star after breaking out last year thanks to a role in Edgar Wright's Baby Driver.

It is this busy schedule that González is now operating on that made Hobbs and Shawa difficult project to join, as she is currently in the middle of filming Godzilla vs. Kong. Set photos from the Hawaii production previously revealed her filming scenes, so González's availability had to be ironed out. Now that this has been squared away, Hobbs and Shaw will be added to her upcoming filmography, which also includes projects like Robert Zemeckis' Welcome to Marwen at the end of this year, Alita: Battle Angel early next year, and Bloodshot in 2020.

With González now on board, and given the timing of her addition, this hopefully won't be too small of a role for her in Hobbs and Shaw. She'll be joining
Mission: Impossible - Fallout's breakout star Vanessa Kirby in the upcoming spinoff as two of the most prominent new additions to the cast, and considering the recent success of both actresses, it'd be great to see Kirby and González share some screen time in Hobbs and Shaw. Even though there aren't any details regarding González's role right now, Dwayne Johnson's savviness on social media is well-documented. He's shared the first look at just about every cast member so far, so it shouldn't come as a surprise if he drops an image of González once she starts filming as well.

[h=1]Michelle Rodriguez & Tyrese Gibson Returning for Fast & Furious 9[/h]

Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson will be returning for Fast & Furious 9. The Fast and Furious franchise started in 2001 with The Fast and the Furious starring Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Every few years the series races back to theaters for the latest installment, which has proven to be a lucrative arrangement for Universal Studios.
Rodriguez' character of Letty Ortiz was introduced in the first film and stood as a love interest to Diesel's character Dominic Toretto. Her character began as a regular street racer, but later agrees to go undercover to expose Arturo Braga, which results in her becoming seriously injured and suffering from amnesia. As for Gibson's character, Roman Pearce first appeared in 2 Fast 2 Furious in 2003. The character would then return to the series for Fast Five, where Roman and Letty shared their first scenes together. Both actors last appeared in The Fate of the Furious in 2017, but it appears they will be returning to the series for yet another ride.

According to
That Hashtag Show, Rodriguez and Gibson will return for the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. While Letty and Roman have been main characters for most of the series, the announcement they are returning comes as a bit of a surprise since they have both threatened to leave the series in recent years. Gibson said that he wouldn't return for Fast and Furious 9 if Dwayne Johnson was a part of the film, and Rodriguez threatened to leave if the series didn't give females bigger roles in future films.

While Fast and Furious 9 has been delayed until 2020, fans can still expect the film to happen, with a tenth film ending the series in 2021. Fast and Furious 9 is thought to begin filming in April 2019, with Justin Lin returning to the seriesas director. Jordana Brewster will also return to her role as Mia Toretto, and Daniel Casey is writing the script for the film.
Fans might have to wait until 2020 to see Dom's next adventure with his crew, but the franchise will be getting a spinoff titled Hobbs and Shaw in 2019 starring Johnson and Jason Statham. While many fans are likely looking forward to the Rock's film, the entire Fast and Furious fanbase will likely be thrilled to hear that Letty and Roman are returning for Fast and Furious 9. Rodriguez and Gibson have played an important part in making previous films successful, and many people are likely to go to the theaters to see what Letty and Roman are up to in the crew's next adventure.

[h=1]Fast & Furious 9 Pushed Back to May 2020[/h]

The wait for Fast & Furious 9 has just been extended by a few weeks thanks to Universal delaying the release date. The studio's once grounded action franchise has now become one of the biggest blockbuster franchises of all-time. Much of this success started once Dwayne Johnson joined the property, but with him off doing his own Hobbs & Shaw spinoff, it will be Vin Diesel who will solely lead the ninth installment.
The story of Fast & Furious 9 is not yet known, but Diesel has been teasing updates on the project for the last several weeks. They are in the final phases of pre-production with filming set to begin in April, and the sequel will reportedly (and unsurprisingly) feature the return of many familiar faces in the franchise. A return is also in store for director Justin Lin, who will direct Fast & Furious 9 after directing four prior entries, before James Wan and F. Gary Gray joined. It has been under their combined visions that the franchise had its monumental rise and earned over $4 billion combined.

Despite production gearing up, Deadline has shared the news that Universal has given Fast & Furious 9 a few more weeks before it's released in theaters. The studio has delayed the film's release date by several weeks and will now launch the blockbuster on May 22, 2020. The film's previous release date was April 10, 2020.

This move is surprising on a number of levels, but especially so when the franchise's success as of late is considered. The last two films, which both made over $1 billion on their own, hit theaters in April, so this appeared to be the sweet spot for the franchise. This instead moves the franchise to Memorial Day weekend, the same slot that Fast & Furious 6 got, opening to a then franchise best $97 million over the 3-day weekend, but $117M over the 4-day holiday.

Universal is clearly hoping to replicate these results and give the film staying power through the summer season, but they've given the film much bigger competition in doing so. There were no other movie set to open in the same weekend as Fast & Furious 9's original date, but it was announced moments after this change that
Bond 25 (which Universal is distributing) is filling the void. Potentially helping out Daniel Craig's final outing as 007, they have put Dominic Toretto and his family up against Godzilla vs. Kong and The SpongeBob Movie. It will be quite surprising if all three of these movies stay, so either Fast & Furious 9 will move again or Warner Bros. will vacate the spot and move Godzilla vs. Kong elsewhere. But, since WB is set to release Godzilla: King of the Monsters in the same window this year, they likely won't budge by much if the sequel performs well.

[h=1]Vin Diesel Reveals John Cena's Addition to Fast & Furious 9 Cast[/h]
Actor Vin Diesel reveals John Cena’s casting for Fast & Furious 9. In a video clip posted to Instagram, Diesel discusses his spiritual connection to the late Paul Walker, who starred in the first six franchise films, and then welcomes Cena into the family.
In 2001, Universal Pictures released The Fast and the Furious, a crime action film in which Walker’s Brian Conner infiltrates a Los Angeles car hijacking organization run by Diesel’s Dominic Toretto. The first franchise film was directed by Rob Cohen, based on a script that was co-written by David Ayer (Suicide Squad). Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster rounded out the main cast, and reprised their roles in subsequent installments. Produced for $38 million, The Fast and the Furious made over $207 million at the box office and inspired seven sequels. Diesel has previously stated that the franchise will end after the 10th film, with the ninth set to release on May 22, 2020. In the upcoming spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprise their franchise roles. Last January, Johnson confirmed that he won’t appear inFast & Furious 9.

On Instagram,
Diesel revealed the Cena casting news with an emotional video post that's captioned with “Thank you Pablo.” In the clip, Diesel’s appearance resembles his iconic franchise character, as filming was reportedly scheduled to begin on April 20. The actor states that he’s “always thinking fast,” and discusses his intention to make something “iconic." From there, Diesel talks about the aforementioned Walker, and how “Pablo” seems to send people into his life “every blue moon.” Diesel briefly pauses to collect his thoughts, and references “another soldier for the fight for truth.” He ultimately reveals that somebody "came by Toretto Gym," with Cena then making a silent appearance, albeit with a grin and a wink of the eye. Diesel ends the clip by stating “all love, always.” Check out the full Instagram post below.

In 2013, Walker was killed in a car accident at the age of 40. Upon his death, Walker’s brothers were used as stand-ins to complete filming for Furious 7, a James Wan-directed film that was produced for $190 million and made over $1.5 billion theatrically. In 2017, F. Gary Gray directed The Fate of the Furious, which marked yet another franchise hit. Justin Lin will direct Fast & Furious 9, this coming after he previously helmed four of the franchise’s films.
For Fast & Furious 9, John Cena’s casting will undoubtedly fill a void left by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Both have universal fan bases thanks to their pro wrestling careers, and both have successfully transitioned into A-list feature film stars. But whereas Johnson brings the brawn and big comedic lines, Cena has displayed his ability to balance a physical presence with oddball comedy. Based on Cena’s appearance in Diesel’s Instagram video, hisFast & Furious 9 character appears to be more of a screwball than a traditional hero.

[h=1]Fast & Furious 9 Officially Casts John Cena[/h]

John Cena has been officially cast in the as-yet-untitled Fast & Furious 9. Although his casting was already revealed back in April in a posting on Vin Diesel’s Instagram, now official confirmation has come down that Cena will be a part of the action franchise, with the newest installment set to start filming later this month.
The Fast and the Furious franchise began back in 2001, with its first entry of the same name featuring undercover police officer Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) infiltrating a group of street racers led by Dominic Toretto (Diesel) who are suspected of being behind a number of transport truck hijackings. The film received only average reviews and was frequently commented to be little more than a riff on Point Break, swapping surfboards for street racing, but a large box office return on a modest budget secured its continuation. It initially moved forwards without Diesel when he opted to make The Chronicles of Riddick, but he returned for a cameo in Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift and fully in part four, Fast & Furious. As the series progressed, each subsequent installment began to feature increasingly greater physics-defying stunts, growing into the over-the-top explosive action for which it is known today.

The news of John Cena officially joining Fast & Furious 9 has been confirmed by Universal (via Deadline). Exactly who he will be playing, as well as whether his character will be a hero or villain (or, like many of the series’ characters, something in between) is currently still under wraps. The only official description of his character is that he is “a badass,” which is not much of a revelation as this describes about 90% of the entire franchise.

John Cena initially made his name as a wrestler performing in WWE, joining its main roster in 2002, first as a white rapper characterand then a military man during the promotion of his first starring role in The Marine. His notoriety and popularity grew, leading to his becoming World Champion in 2005, going on the gain championship titles a record 16 times.

Unsurprisingly, his initial acting roles were in action movies in line with the tough persona most professional wrestlers portray by default, but in the last few years he has displayed a great deal of comedic talent with supporting roles in the likes of Trainwreck and Sisters, and as one of the main leads inBlockers, while his performance as the main human antagonist inTransformers spinoff Bumblebee showcased a little more range. Although he has largely left wrestling behind, he does make the occasional surprise return.
Even though it was already all but a known fact that Cena would be featured inFast & Furious 9, Diesel’s video didn’t explicitly state it, so the official confirmation of his appearance removes any lingering doubt. The addition of “franchise Viagra” Dwayne Johnson proved a masterstroke in increasing the saga’s popularity, so it stands to reason that the inclusion of another charismatic former wrestler should have a similar effect, especially sinceJohnson won’t be appearing in Fast & Furious 9, instead joint headliningHobbs & Shaw, the first of what will likely be several spinoff films. Given the increasing evidence of Cena’s versatility, it will be surprising if his presence has anything other than a positive effect on the film.

[h=1]Fast & Furious 9 Stops Production After Stuntman's Serious Injury[/h]

Filming is temporarily halted on the set of Fast & Furious 9 after an accident involving a crew member resulted in a serious injury. Fast & Furious 9 officially started production in June, with many of the series' cast returning for the ninth installment of the popular action film franchise.
Those stars who have come back for the ride include Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren and Tyrese Gibson. Several new cast members will also join the team of fast-driving characters, including professional wrestler John Cena. The movies, which are known for their over-the-top action and explosions, have always involved death-defying stunts. As of yet, though, there have been no serious accidents on set for the franchise's cast or crew members. Unfortunately, that doesn't apply to off-set; in 2013, franchise star Paul Walker died in a car accident, almost in a case of life imitating art.

Now, though, an accident has halted production on the set of Fast & Furious 9. According to THR, police and paramedics were called to Leavesden Studios in the U.K. to treat a stuntman after a fall that resulted in a "serious head injury."The injured man was rushed to Royal London Hospital by air ambulance. At the time, his condition remains unknown. It is also unknown if any of the main cast members were present when the accident happened. Universal Studios issued the following statement:
"We had an injury on the set of Fast 9 today in Leavesden with one of our stuntmen. We have halted production for the day to focus on this situation."

Leavesden Studios is where the entire series of
Harry Potter movies were filmed. It is also the location for the filming of Wonder Woman 1984 and Cats. Leavesden also serves as the location for the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter tourist attraction. Although Warner Bros. owns the studio, it often rents it out to other companies, including Universal, who owns the rights to Fast & Furious 9. Leavesden is no stranger to accidents, though. It was only several weeks ago when a fire broke out on one of the soundstages, with firefighters taking nearly 15 hours to put it out. Fortunately, that incident did not result in any injuries.

Although movie studios have safety protocols in place for cast and crew, sometimes people still get hurt. This incident follows a similar one that happened recently during production of
Titans season 2 that resulted in the death of a special effects coordinator. Fast & Furious fans can only hope that the injured stuntman in this accident has a quick recovery and that the cast and crew can get back to filming soon.

    I dont think games have looked any better since 2019 onwards and they are performing worse and worse. Game developers have really dropped the ball.

    What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
    I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.

    After I watched it, I never felt like i watched a show. It was a friggin journey. I got way too attached to Thorfinn and seeing him grow up and find himself and get rid of all the negativity inside of him was just pure bliss.

    With how great cod warzone has translated onto mobile. Mainstream Consoles have lost its value even further. Maybe console gaming was associated with TVs and how TV is not the primary source of media consumption anymore, consoles will lose its 200 million core audiences even further.
