Well that was a let down. Guess I shouldn't listen to random "insiders" on the internet on what to expect. None of the stuff I wanted to see showed up on Sony's conference. MonHun was a good start and that was about it, the rest was skippable. God of War was just like how I imagined. Lots of pseudo-gameplay cutscenes with "deep narrative dialogue (this is high art, right guys?)". And one scene that just killed it for me. Kratos is narrating about being ruthless and emotionless in combat while he's about to stomp on some poor fucker's head, and then the camera pans up just as he pancakes him. What kind of pussy shit is this? From a GoW game no less.
This game is a wreck. Calling it now, highest score this game will get is an 8 and a load of 7's and 6's. There is no saving grace for this snore fest. The actual bits of gameplay they did show was unbelievably shallow and flat. It looked like indie level stuff. Just some guy wacking people with a stick, and sometimes a kid will assist you buy shooting an arrow. If this is the only bits of gameplay separating the long and drawn out narrative sequences then this game's reception is looking bleak. More like God of Bore.
Spirderman was the only other game that remotely got me interested but even that has me extremely vary of what to expect. A lot of obvious QTE sequences which I'm OK with to a point. But even some of the gameplay looked scripted to a degree. Getting tired of games doing stuff like this just so the actions on screen looks fun.
No FromSoft game, no new DMC, no new IP that looks genuinely good. 5/10 E3.
