[h=1]Destiny 2 on PS4 is getting HDR support post-launch[/h]

[h=2]Good news for fans with newer displays[/h]

Destiny 2was already getting exclusive content on the PlayStation 4, but a recent trailer for the game confirmed that Destiny 2 will also be gaining HDR, or high dynamic range, support on the PlayStation 4 “soon” after launch.
HDR is a feature the increases the number of colors, as well as their intensity, that can be shown on new televisions. It’s a hard effect to describe in words, but imagine a more vibrant image that seems as if it “pops” off the display. Its inclusion in newer televisions is a big part of why 4K displays can look so good when running newer hardware and games with HDR support.
Destiny 2 on the PC already offers HDR and 4K resolution options on the PC beta if you have the hardware needed to run and display the game at those settings, but that version of the game will be released on Oct. 24, while the console versions will be out on Sept. 6.
We reached out to Bungie to ask for confirmation on whether HDR support is coming to the Xbox One S or Xbox One X version of Destiny 2 and have yet to hear back.

Feels like a completely different game on PC compared to the beta I played on the PS4. MP modes are not behind a shitty pay wall either.

Rock solid, silky smooth 60fps (or higher if your display supports), FOV slider and mouse controls are a game changer.

This is basically the same kind of fair play that people on the consoles will emulate using devices like the XIM4. No matter the platform, Bungie can't win :lol:

Can't wait to return to the world of Destiny. It's been several months that I stopped playing after I completed all the story content from all the expansions.

Destiny 2, from all the recent EDZ gameplay (as well as some leaked gameplays from another planet) looks to be something I could easily get lost in, even if I'm wandering all by myself. The story campaign looks to be over 10 hours alone. The "adventure" side quests seem to add heaps of context and story to the world you inhabit, and that's separate to the main campaign's lore, and the lost sectors are gonna keep me entertained as I look for every nook and cranny for a cave opening.

Then there's the co-op element. The public events. The strikes. And then, something we have no idea about - The end game and how that will change, or perhaps introduce activities in a way the first game did. And in all of this, we have no idea how the special loot quests will work. How Bungie intends to keep new loot fresh (because every legendary/exotic weapon will have locked perks unlike Destiny 1 where the same Handcannon could have different auxiliary perks).

And then there's the raid. The bread and butter of a Destiny experience. Can't wait to see how they top their last raids. And while we would barely have gotten free from all this content, in the next 3 months we'll have the first DLC drop which is poised to include a new patrol zone. If everything goes right, the first 6-9 months of this game are gonna be some of the best I've experienced.

nah they are just gonna do a reverse Division ..Division started well and now is a aimbot playground
Problem is they've provided an in-game framework for cheaters to exploit on PC in the long-run. And while it's also possible to emulate analog movement on PS4/XBO via mouse/kb, the aim assist is far more aggressive in the PC version since the game runs at higher frame rates on the platform. The lowered recoil and larger sensitivity range on PC make matters even worse. In future, hackers will undoubtedly be able to configure aim assist to work with native mouse/kb.

Solution: Bungie should completely eradicate aim assist from the PC version...then wait for hackers to create a real aimbot lol.

PC beta sold me on the game. Placed my order after playing it. $120 to play on the PS4 ($60 for the game + $60 for Plus) doesnt seem worth it at all after seeing how well Bungie is optimising the PC version. $45 for the best looking and playing version wasnt a tough decision. It'll be well worth the wait in Oct.

[h=1]Destiny 2 begins with a touching tribute to returning players[/h]
[h=2]My face is leaking[/h]

Destiny 2 developer Bungie said all along that it would recognize players’ accomplishments in the original Destiny with rewards in the sequel. The studio promised tangible items — namely, emblems — as well as some surprises. Now that we’ve played Destiny 2 ourselves, we know that the game’s acknowledgment of our time with Destiny and its four expansions is more meaningful than any in-game trinket could ever be.
[Note: We’ll be discussing the tribute in detail, so if you want to go in blind, we won’t feel bad if you stop reading here.]
Bungie said in June that it would give out as many as seven Destiny 2 emblems to mark the progress that you made in Destiny. Six of them were tied to Moments of Triumph or the Age of Triumph record book, while the other was related to Grimoire score. But it turns out that Destiny was tracking a bunch of your most memorable moments — and the people that you shared them with.
If you log in to Destiny 2 with a PlayStation Network ID or Xbox Live gamertag that’s linked to at least one Destiny character played before Aug. 1, 2017, the sequel will automatically detect that and import your Guardian(s). Then you’ll see a montage of your personal milestones from Destiny. Each one is a black-and-white drawing of the moment in question, along with the date of completion and the fireteam that you were playing with at the time.

There are a total of 10 Destiny Memories, starting from “The Black Garden” — the final mission of the original game’s lackluster campaign — and going through all four of its expansions to Wrath of the Machine, the raid in Destiny: Rise of Iron. You can see all of this author’s moments above, except for the final one, since he never attempted Wrath of the Machine.

[h=1]These are Destiny 2’s launch-day microtransactions[/h]

[h=2]The Eververse Trading Co. isn’t new, but some products are[/h]

Destiny 2 launched today, and considering that we live in the year of our Lord 2017, it should come as no surprise that there are microtransactions. So what’s for sale on launch day?
After you complete the game’s third mission, “Spark,” you’ll find that Tess Everis has pitched a tent at the Farm. If you played the original Destiny, you’ll recognize her and her small business, the Eververse Trading Company. Things work pretty much the same way this time around: Players can purchase Silver from their console’s store. Everis sells items called bright engrams, which contain special loot. Hand the engrams back in for decoding, and out pops a random something from a discrete loot table.

The conversion rate is one bright engram for 200 Silver, three for 500 and five for 800. Here's what it costs in both the PlayStation and Xbox stores:

  • 500 Silver for $4.99
  • 1,100 Silver for $9.99
  • 2,300 Silver for $19.99
  • 5,800 Silver for $49.99
We’ve got a gallery of the items that could drop from engrams purchased at Eververse on launch day, which include emotes, Sparrows, ships, Ghost Shells and weapon ornaments. There’s also the chance players could find a few new items that could prove controversial — they actually affect gameplay.
An elemental weapon mod changes the element of an energy or power weapon, so it’s essentially a for-pay re-spec for a gun. Weapon stats armor mods will “slightly” enhance the stats of some of your equipped weapons. There’s also a chance to get character stats armor mods, which “slightly” enhance a character stat, such as how quickly your health regenerates. Finally, ability cooldown armor mods allow you to use your subclass abilities — the rates at which you generate grenades, melee attacks and super attacks — more often

It looks like players who are willing to spend the money can get a bit more out of the Eververse in Destiny 2, but whether or not that translates into significant performance boosts for the money remains to be seen. It’s worth noting that bright engrams from Eververse will only give you rare (blue) mods, while you can earn better legendary mods in the game. One player on Reddit says that the Gunsmith sells legendary mods after you complete the Destiny 2 campaign, which would make Eververse’s less useful modsessentially obsolete.
If someone wants to loan me a couple hundred dollars, I’d be happy to find that out for you.

[h=1]Destiny 2’s shaders are consumables, leaving many fans enraged[/h]
[h=2]Will the feedback push Bungie to change?[/h]

Destiny 2 has launched to a very positive reception so far, especially among fans of the original game (primarily because developer Bungie fixed many of Destiny’s most glaring issues for the sequel). But one change that Bungie made has left players fuming: InDestiny 2, armor shaders are single-use consumable items.
Shaders are cosmetic items that can be applied to armor to give it a color scheme that’s different from its original look. In the original Destiny, players often received shaders as loot drops from various activities. They could also buy shaders from vendors such as Eva Levante with an in-game currency called Glimmer. (In both Destiny and Destiny 2, Glimmer must be earned through play — you can’t buy it with real money.)
But the main thing to know about how shaders worked in the original Destiny is that they were permanent items. Once you unlocked a shader, it was tied to your account forever. Your entire shader collection was available for browsing at in-game kiosks, and your character could hold up to nine of them at once. Using shaders was simple — you could swap out your current shader at any time in favor of a different one, or remove a shader altogether to show your armor’s innate colors.

There was only one major gripe that Destinyplayers had with shaders: They were an all-or-nothing style choice. When you put one on, its color scheme was applied to your entire set of armor. Players were excited to discover in the Destiny 2 beta that armor shaders would now be applied to individual pieces of armor — you’d be able to wear different shaders for your helmet, gauntlets, chest piece and boots. More granular customization is always better, right?
Unfortunately, it turns out that there was another shoe waiting to drop. Shaders are consumable items in Destiny 2, which actually limits customization. Say you find a set of shaders that you like the look of, and put them on your armor. If you get a different eye-catching shader later and decide to apply it, then you’ve lost access to the initial one; you’ll have to hope that it drops for you again. The same situation holds true from the armor side. If you ever get stronger armor than what you’re wearing right now, you’ll have to get separate shaders for it. (Destiny is all about chasing better and better gear, so this system may discourage players from ever using a shader on their armor until they unlock a full set of raid gear — the game’s best armor, which will require a lot of work to obtain.)

Destiny 2’s shader setup has produced a huge backlash among fans, with
one thread on the game’s active subreddit advocating that players boycott the game’s microtransactions “until shaders become unlimited use.” As of this writing, the thread has more than 41,000 upvotes.

Microtransactions are a related issue that’s causing consternation with Destiny 2’s player base. The game’s real-money currency, Silver, can be spent on an item called a bright engram, which is essentially a loot box. Shaders are part of the loot table for bright engrams, and cynical players are suspecting that Bungie made this change to shaders in order to ensure that it had something that it could continue to put in loot boxes.
Destiny 2 game director Luke Smith addressed the furor in a series of tweets this afternoon, saying that Bungie wanted to make shaders “an ongoing reward for playing.” Because there are unique shaders and armor pieces available for each destination, said Smith, Bungie hopes the drive for armor customization will inspire people to keep playing the game:

With D2, we want statements like "I want to run the Raid, Trials, or go back to Titan to get more of its Shader" to be possible. (4/4)

After seeing Smith’s tweets, the author of the aforementioned Reddit post updated it to say they were sad that things apparently aren’t going to change.
“Well boys and girls it seems the new system is here to stay,” wrote Redditor WeilandM. “I’m not happy about it, but hopefully we are all just as whiny and melodramatic as we’re being made out to be, and shaders will end up being in ridiculous surplus (which will basically make them like they were in [Destiny].)
“At the end of the day, Destiny 2 is a fantastic game outside of this one annoying issue.”
Either way, fans are certainly making their voices heard. “The conversation about all the ways in which we play and are rewarded by the game will continue,” Bungie said in a blog post today. “We’re just getting started on this new journey. Keep talking. We’re always listening.”

[h=2]When the Leviathan raid, Xur and Nightfall strikes are coming to Destiny 2[/h]
