I am not sure I have seen any other game lately that has almost a cult like following like Destiny. I still see peeps playing it every now and then. Some of the folks at PG like faizy, lowresolution, thegame etc are hardcore Destiny fanatics. I wouldn't be surprised if their playtime would be anything less than 1500 hours. That's the amount of love Destiny has had from the community. Even I have given around 300 hours to Destiny. And while the Story and content are mediocre, the mechanics of the game far excel everything. Here's hoping Bungie delivers the definitive Destiny experience in the next iteration.

The fact that TTK and Destiny 2 share the same director has me filled with a good amount of faith on the game's quality.

I've stopped playing Destiny for several months now but, like countless others, I'm wayyyy too excited to get right back into the game. Bungie just needs to give me a good enough reason. This time, the only thing that will keep me excited is a great story and a well structured campaign.

The first game had me because of its mechanics. The second one better deliver on the story. By the looks of the trailers, a focus on great characters is evident, and I hope this is a sign of things to come.

YES! A well structured campaign is what this game needs the most. Somehow Destiny 1's campaign felt like a big ass side quest with lots of co-op. I would love a proper single player campaign this time around.

[h=1]Destiny 2 is coming to Blizzard’s Battle.net[/h]

[h=2]The PC version will be exclusive to Blizzard’s platform[/h]

Destiny 2’s PC version will come to Blizzard Entertainment’s Battle.net, the platform that serves as the “central nervous system for Blizzard games,” Bungie, Activision and Blizzard revealed today.

Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision, and Mike Morhaime, president of Blizzard Entertainment, announced during a livestream today that Destiny 2 will be available “exclusively” via Battle.net on Windows PC.
“We thought it would be a great opportunity to bring the Destiny community and the Blizzard community together,” Morhaime said.
Traditionally, Blizzard’s Battle.net platform has been the sole domain of the developer’s own games: World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, StarCraft, Diablo and Overwatch. The tech serves a number of features, including multiplayer matchmaking, voice chat and game purchases. Blizzard dropped the Battle.net branding earlier this year after more than 20 years, though Morhaime continued to refer to the platform by its previous name, presumably due the brand’s familiarity.

Destiny 2 will be released on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on Sept. 8.

[h=1]Destiny 2 brings you to Earth and three new worlds[/h]
[h=2]Go across the universe[/h]

Destiny 2 features four new locations for Guardians to visit, explore and fight across, developer Bungie announced today: Earth, Titan, Io and Nessus.

Destiny veterans will appreciate one of the biggest changes Bungie is making for Destiny 2: It will be possible to travel from planet to planet without ever going to orbit.
“We want to remove as many barriers as we can between your gun and the enemy’s face,” said Luke Smith, game director on Destiny 2.
Earth in Destiny 2 won’t be the same place players remember from Destiny. The sequel’scampaign kicks off with a Cabal invasion of The Last City, and although the Vanguard fights valiantly to save the Tower, the city is lost. Instead, the action on Earth will move from Old Russia to the European Dead Zone for Destiny 2. It won’t be completely unfamiliar toDestiny players: Two Crucible maps from the original game, Memento and Widow’s Court, are set in that region.

“It’s an incredible place — the largest destination we’ve ever built, easily, by a factor of two,” said Destiny 2 project lead Mark Noseworthy. The European Dead Zone, which looks like a forested area, is the location of a camp that the Vanguard has set up. It’s the new home base for humanity.

The three Vanguards will each head to one of the other three destinations in Destiny 2. First up is Titan, the largest moon of Saturn. True to life, the moon’s surface features seas of liquid methane — in fact, Titan is home to “an old human utopia” that is “sinking into the ocean,” said art director Michael Zak. There aren’t any landmasses on Titan; Guardians will navigate platforms surrounded by the sea. Commander Zavala, the Titan Vanguard, travels to the moon to recuperate after the Cabal attack on Earth. (Destiny players will remember that the Dreadnaught, Oryx’s ship fromThe Taken King, floated among the rings of Saturn.)
Cayde-6, the Hunter Vanguard, gets stuck in a portal on Nessus, a planetoid that orbits the sun somewhere in the region of Uranus and Neptune. The Vex have taken over this rocky little outpost, which features canyons full of unique native vegetation, and have essentially turned it into one of their machine worlds.

Finally, there’s Io, the innermost moon of Jupiter. It’s the last place in the solar system that the Traveler touched before the collapse, and that makes it a very mysterious place. Ikora Rey, the Warlock Vanguard, returns to this moon to look for answers.
You’ll be able to explore these places yourself when Destiny 2 launches Sept. 8 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

Battle.net is great, and along with these features:

4k Resolution Support (3820x2160)
Uncapped framerate
Full mouse and keyboard support with custom key mapping
Text chat
Adjustable Field of View
Detailed PC settings screen
21:9 monitor support
PC version is off to a good start.

Edit: Or maybe not lol

An Activision representative confirmed for us today that Destiny 2 on PC does not currently have a scheduled release date, and will not release on September 8 alongside the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.

Thats just stupid. People will play it either on their preferred platform or where their friends are, so a simultaneous release can't hurt those sales.

[h=1]Destiny 2 on PC might trail behind the console versions[/h]

[h=2]But it will support 4K and uncapped framerate when it comes to PC[/h]

The Windows PC version of Destiny 2 will support resolutions up to 4K and ship with an unlocked framerate, according to publisher Activision. But it’s starting to sound likeDestiny 2 might not hit PC the same day that Bungie’s shooter is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

In a fact sheet released by Activision today, the publisher said the Windows PC version ofDestiny 2 is being developed with full keyboard and mouse support, with custom key mapping; adjustable field of view settings; 21:9 monitor support; and resolution up to 3820x2160.
Bungie and Activision revealed earlier today that the game will also run on Blizzard’s Battle.net platform, a decision that will help get Destiny 2 in the hands on PC players faster, Blizzard said.
But it’s not exactly clear when the PC version of Destiny 2 will ship. Activision’s press release makes it sound like it might not ship on Sept. 8, the previously announced release date for the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Here’s what Activision said:

In September, Destiny 2 will be available on PlayStation 4 systems with additional, timed exclusive content, and Xbox One (PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription, respectively, required for significant features). Additionally, Destiny 2 will be available on PC at retail and as the first third-party game to be offered digitally via Battle.net, Blizzard Entertainment's online gaming service.
Blizzard was similarly noncommittal in its language discussing the Destiny 2 PC release date. From Blizzard’s FAQ:
Where and when will Destiny 2 on PC be available?
We’re excited to work with Bungie to bring the PC version of Destiny 2 to every region Blizzard currently operates in. Bungie is actively working through the global details. We look forward to sharing additional information later this year.

When reached for comment, a spokesperson for Activision provided the following statement:
Destiny 2 is shipping on September 8th, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. We will have details later about the PC ship date on Blizzard Entertainment's Battle.net.
While we wait for a firm release date for the PC version of Destiny 2, here are a pair of 4K resolution screenshots of the game to look at.

They're probably expecting a good many number of people to double dip and a lot of people *will* double dip.

Didnt destiny sell really well on the ps4. Cause all these people will probably play it on ps4 since they will have communities and groups already set up and they dont need to go through the hassle of going through it all over again.

[h=1]Destiny 2 won’t have dedicated servers (update)[/h]11

[h=2]“It is a complicated typology”[/h]

Destiny is coming to PC for the first time with Destiny 2, and there already appear to be growing pains. Not only is the PC release likely launching after the console versions, but PC project lead David Shaw said that neither version’s multiplayer will run on its own servers.

“It is a complicated typology,” Shaw told PC Gamer in an interview following Destiny 2’s live gameplay reveal yesterday. “We do not have dedicated servers for Destiny 2 on PC.”
Instead, Destiny 2 will likely continue to use the tech of the first game. Destiny and its expansions use a form of peer-to-peer networking for their multiplayer modes, which is typical for online console games. The issue with peer-to-peer, however, is that it can come with some major latency issues; since data is transmitted to each player individually, there are more points of failure.
PC gamers are more used to dedicated servers, which are generally regarded as more reliable. While they may be disappointed by Destiny 2’s lack of them, many console-based Destiny players have also long requested dedicated servers for the sequel.

The game’s Reddit is filled with highly upvoted threads asking for dedicated servers:
Reddit
We’ve reached out to Activision, the game’s publisher, to confirm whether Destiny 2 will use the same networking as the original Destiny. We’ll update accordingly.
Update: Producer Mark Noseworthy confirmed that the game won’t have dedicated servers on either console.

“We are not getting dedicated servers,” he said around the one hour, 10 minute-mark in a video interview with IGN.

The PS4/XB1 versions were also 30 FPS owing to last-gen code. Let's see if they up it to 60 FPS. Bungie has not made a single 60 FPS console FPS so far though, so it just might be the developer's choice.
Turns out its not choice but they're just dealing with weak hardware.

IGN: "Why did you make that decision. You're like 'We're going to lock it at 4K/30 max on consoles.' Is it just like, you don't want to push the consoles too hard, or why do you make that choice?"

Luke Smith: "I mean, I'm going to wade into this, and you [Mark Noseworthy] can flesh it out. The console, the PS4 Pro is super powerful, but it couldn't run our game at 60. Our game's this rich physics simulation where collision of players, networking, etc, and like, it wouldn't run."

IGN: "Yeah, makes sense."

Luke Smith: "Not enough horsepower there."
All console versions targeting 30FPS. This "policy" of parity is one of the dumbest things Sony and MS have come up with. As if higher resolutions on better hardware will not be advantageous.
