Its always best to consult a doctor if your acidity is persistent.
I did. He suggested me endoscopy but my family didnt allow me to have it since some relatives had bad experience with endoscopy.

About endoscopy yes it's harsh, you'll have to fast on liquid a whole day before for prep and process goes the same but if you experience the aforementioned you'll have to perform it to stay on safe side

You'd be surprised as to how very many Pakistani's are suffering from acid reflux. I myself suffer from chronic acid reflux, due to which I had a very hoarse voice until I got it under partial control.

Diet with desi foods. Well.. First and foremost try to understand what causes the acidity and acid reflux in the first place.

From a Pakistani diet's perspective, our foods have a lot of oil, spices, and acidic ingredients.

Now, no one is saying that start eating salads and greens only.. There's a way to do everything. Moderation is key!
If everyone in your house prefers spicy food, have some cooked for yourself separately with low spice levels. Not just the mirch, but also the other flavorsome spices. Furthermore, most desi saalans are primarily comprised of tomatos and onions, both of which worsen your case.

Apart from that, off the top of my head, a list of food items that will worsen acid reflux:

- Milk
- Caffeinated drinks. Coffee in particular will make things really bad for you. Common source is drinking lots of tea at workplace. That happened with me before I left tea almost completely.
- Citrus fruits and citrus fruit juices
- fatty and/or deepfried foods.

If you must, replace milk and yogurt with skimmed/low fat milk and yogurt.

Other things, the inclusion of which, that have helped me include but are not restricted to:
- Oatmeal
- Isphaghol in water
- Bananas. It's a win win for me. I use them as a preworkout and postworkout source of carbohydrates. Their basicity help my acidreflux.
- salads and leafy greens
- fish!

__

Furthermore, there are also a few other things, keeping in mind which, will help.

- Drinking ample water
- Last meal should be 2-3 hours before you go to sleep
- Sit upright/stand/move around for a little while after a meal
- Don't overeat!
- Sleep with your body on the left side
- Elevate the head of your bed by 15 degrees. Usually, putting a pillow under the mattress will achieve this adequately. The pillow should be under the mattress, not under yourself.

And finally. What medicine are you taking to curb your acidity?
I'm currently consuming a drug called esomeprazole. It is sold under the name, most commonly, 'Nexum' in Pakistan, as far as I am aware.
It's one of the most commonly used drugs and a very effective one. I'm finding it hard to believe that it's not helping you. It has to be taken 30-60 mins prior to a meal.

I know your question asked for something different, but I've tried being exhaustive. Hopefully you can pick up some new things from this.

Me, personally, I'm living in Turkey at the moment, so spicy foods is not a problem for me.
That being said, I do love them, and I occasionally cook them. However, there's a way to cook them such that your body won't be cursing you for putting yourself through it. Have your food cooked in bare minimum oil, with less spices, and preferable less tomatos. Don't have raw onions. Try to eliminate tea/coffee from your diet.

And, if you smoke, now might be a good time to consider quitting.
If you're fat, now might be a good time to consider losing weight.
If you're under a lot of stress, now might be a .... oh who am I kidding. I myself have AR primarily due to stress. I'm losing hair too, rapidly and there's nothing I'm able to do about it haha.

If possible, try to reduce your stresses by having a calmer approach to things. People around me can immediately spot during my high roller weeks when I'm super overworked and stressed that I am so, because, they can hear me constantly clearing my throat.

Finally, try seeing a gastroenterologist (or even ENT).

My family isnt allowing me to have it because my grandpa's live cirrhosis got worst because of endoscopy and there are few other scary stories of people.

I dont know why but bananas take so much time for me to digest sometimes and they kinda cause acidity for me.
salads and leafy greens should be eaten boiled or as saalan?
cannot have fish in hot weather :(

Do u know any ideal breakfast for acid reflux which doesnt include milk or tea.

If i drink water before food or after or inbetween it also makes my acidity worse.

The worst problem is that i get Breathing problems from the reflux.. It's that severe.

Zantac (Ranitidine) works the best for me instead of esomeprazole or omeprazole. Nexum has literally no effect on my acidity..

Tea does make it worst but sometimes cant help drinking :/. Also Pepsi and Sprite etc also sometimes aggravate it.

I don't smoke and am not obese either. Just gaining weight due to Paxil which i think maybe the culprit of acidity too..

What is AR? Me too can be anything but calm :D Exercise helps my anxiety a lot but sometimes exercise also causes heartburn for me.

How can ENT help with gastric issues btw?

Stop smoking if you do.
Get endoscopy done because you need to identify the cause.
If you cannot get endoscopy done due to any reason then you probably need an antibiotic course against bacteria that causes acidity.
Tab Flagyl 400mg 1+1+1 for 2 weeks
Tab Amoxyl 1gram 1+0+1 for 2 weeks
Cap Nexum 40mg 1+0+1 for 4 weeks.

Oh yeah its Amoxyl + Klaricid + Nexum. Flagyl is added only for resistant cases. Thanks for correcting me Hamid. I am a neurosurgeon so kinda out of touch with other specialities.

before jumping in for endoscopy try and make lifestyle and diet changes first.

eliminate outside food/limit it very strictly

do not overeat (pait bhar k khana)

walk after eating

eat dinner around 3 hours before bed

raise your pillow/use 2 pillows

use isapghol fiber

other posters have already mentioned the useful medicines and a detailed diet plan. let this be a warning for future times and work on improving your lifestyle + some daily physical activity.

best.

Had the same problem a couple of years back and acidity, it usually happens after you eat dinner, it doesn't digests feels like you can't gasp proper air, usually when you are in bed try to catch some sleep but you cant, i was fine by taking some esomeparazole and changing diet mostly shifting to the boiled food.

Since there are some doctors in the conversation, let me discuss something else too related to the topic.

Few months back i had an intense issue of excessive gas which led to the series of problems for me Literally changed my lifestyle , it started out of nowhere i didnt know it was gas or something else, from couple of days i had this pain in my left arm which came from time to time and went away, then a bit of pain in the right side of the stomach or chest in between, it moved in my whole body, most feared issue was heart palpitation and i had them too from time to time, and one night i thought of searching(You know what happens after that) i was misguided and thought it was heart disease or something and i panicked too hard, which caused my heart beat fast, i rushed to the hospital got ECG done doctor said it was fine and i just panicked gave me some tranquilizers, Since that day worst day of my life, ive generated a phobia in me, i can't travel alone or drive on the long routes, i just don't feel good going out, though issue is reduced to half but its still there doctors in my area aren't giving me proper medication for it goes away comes and comes back suggestion needed.

- PPI (antacids) reduce the acid inside stomach which helps in food digestion. Will eventually lead to malnutrition. Recent conducted research shows its link to dementia.
- Antibiotics are not recommended. It kills the intestinal flora both good and bad.

Now I'm going to give you a solid advice based on experiences.

- I have been suffering from stomach problems since childhood. I have tried everything.

Golden words:
>>>> Eat only when you feel hungry. DO NOT OVERFEED YOURSELF. Chew feed properly.
>>>> Eat Enzyme rich foods. Papaya, Citrus foods (they balance the stomach acid), Ajwa dates.
>>>> Baking soda+water neutralizes stomach acid but creates severe mineral defciency also casuses constipation (use only in emergency)
>>>> DO NOT EAT SUGAR, HARD TO DIGEST FOODS, Your stomach lining is damaged. Eat easy.
>>>> Take breakfast at proper time. Avoid late night meals, You will not die if you skip late night meals.
>>>> Drink water in sips
>>>> Flush your intestines with Senna leaves.

Now it is upto you whether you follow this advice or not.
