Yep...game looks gorgeous. Can't imagine playing it at ~900p with the worst upscaler in the market i.e. FSR2 on a 4K display no less. Console folks should consider moving back to 1080p TVs lol

We'll cover which options are worth changing a little later, but for now let's talk shader compilation. This is handled by a precompilation step the first time you start a game, taking a bit more than a minute on a Core i9 12900K and just under three minutes on the more mainstream-orientated Ryzen 5 3600. This is normally good news, as it should help prevent instances of shader compilation stutter, but the implementation here seems flawed - reinstalling a driver and wiping the shader cache doesn't trigger this precompilation step again if you're on the same driver version, so you can run into massive shader compilation stutters this way.

The issue is more severe on PC. Alex has compared the stutters across PC and PS5/Series X, and this is what he found.

1. You become an idiot and forcefully wipe your cache and/or reinstall the same driver version.

2. You get a "rare" instance of bug where you get shader stutters between gameplay, which most players won't get. Get it? R-A-R-E?

How is that applicable to 99% of gamers?

Despite the game having a pre-comp step, it does not work and there are still stutters in the game (even without needing to wipe your cache or driver).

The issue has not been fixed in any of the patches since launch as seen in the video today.

Massive traversal stutter spikes, much worse than either console, and still the shader comp stutters despite the pre compilation.

Here is the DF EXPERT review published about 14 hours ago about GARBAGE PC games including Dead Space Remake.

And quote: "Dead Space on PC is still stuttering and has scarcely been UPDATED (one patch on Feb 14). The GAME still STUTTER INCESSANTLY on ANY CPU out there even high end CPU."

Also, the game has a lot of other issues on PC as per the review:

• Lengthy shader pre-compilation (not on console) that does not even pre-cache all shaders
• Traversal stutters make the game jittery
• The game is still as stuttery as it was when launched

PC fans who say stuttering is minor or patched are either blind, bholay, stutter in real life, or lying like my 3-year-old kid.

PC gaming has been dead since 2013, and is like a dead zombie that only blind fans cling to today.

The frustration of buying 2 consoles and both running the game at 972p with stutters. No wonder we didn't get screenshots either

Also, Last of US PC Port was a pathetic effort by Iron Galaxy, not ND per se.
