What's up? Been damn stressed about the COVID News. I don't understand why are there so many variants like Delta and Lambda. And why are they in Greek? Lockdowns and restrictions almost everywhere. The news are suffocating me and it gives me panic attacks. During night, I can't help but, to think if the end is near. How did you guys overcome this anxiety?

Thanks!

Karachi.
Relax and calm down. I felt the same way in July when 9 of my friends/colleagues had suddenly contracted Covid within a span of 2 days. Thankfully they all tested negative in 8~10 days. The new Delta variant does spread very fast, but if you are vaccinated and follow SOPs (even something as simple as cleaning hands every few hours), then you will most definitely remain safe. I was in contact with a few of my friends who had gotten Covid but I along with my family remained safe. But I have also lost some family members and friends to Covid. I know the feeling of the world collapsing when I think of the possibility of something similar happening to close family. But you have to look at the odds of that happening as well. The vaccines are a life saver. Enjoy life while following SOPs.

Thanks dudes! Yeah I guess the basic Covid19 protocols are way important. I am calm, but sometimes it triggers anxiety that made me overthink. With Covid alone - the main strain it already killed a lot - then these variants came into the scene - with a lot of severity and damage.

The vaccines - it may be do good but not the solution. Just read reports about Covid 19 concerns - and it really really does affect mental health. Probably one reason why I tend to panic.

hahaha that is one hell of a great comment man! Simple, direct and practical :D

Gonna be honest. I tried this and it worked, really. Media is one of the greatest source of mis/disinformation. And all these pictures, videos and other things on the net and TV overload your soul. I personally believe depression isn't related to the physical body but with the spiritual body so try to get into the practice of meditating and doing zikr a little bit after every prayer and you'll see the results.

To reduce worry, slowly reduce unnecessary behaviors that are not recommended. Do Not Go Beyond CDC Guidelines and do engage in Stress Reduction Activities like yoga and zumba.

Get vaccinated. Ask your friends and family to get vaccinated.

Regardless of vaccination status, ensure some basic precautions like washing your hands frequently and wear a mask if going to a public place.

And keep the news on the down-low. The more you watch, the more it'll spike your anxiety.

Step 1. Sell your TV
Step 2. Delete your FB account
Step 3. Enjoy life.
we accidentally stumbled into a different coping mechanism, we have our TV running Comedy Central in the background, whether we're actively watching or not (low volume on this mode, enough that we still hear the programs). Since the start of the lockdown Comedy Central has been running Friends and Big Bang Theory(never liked it when it came out new - now I do) back to back. You have no idea how much it has helped.

I understand @EternalBlizzard's point about selling your TV if all you're watching is local news channels, stay the fuck away from those.

I've been watching comedy shows and it let me forget my fears for a moment. However, during nights, I will all remember those fears and will give me panic attacks. I envy you for being so brave, how do you face covid without fear?

I don't think it's bravery, it's more to do with not giving in to the fear. You could call that hubris or stupidity, whatever you call it, you need something of that attitude.

What's your daily routine like? do you get out of the house at all?

Covid has done more damage to humankind mentally than anything else.

I had this same anxiety for months. Then I slowly realized.. anxiety/stress doesn't help one bit. Just try to exercise/walk, eat healthy, take vitamins, get enough sleep and don't follow the covid news.

If something is going to happen you can't stop it, all you can do is your part and that is keeping yourself healthy and stress free.

Praying and reciting quran helps alot. Have faith, eat healthy, exercise some and be positive. Death is inevitable. It will happen when it has to regardless. Be careful and follow sops but don't stop living in your fear of dying, otherwise what's the point.
