I think your friend is talking about the software known "Hamachi" if you have a fast net connection then you can join a private network which is created by various peoples, for example you and your friends in karachi can create their own network and can play dotA and other multiplayer games! for more information and download visit:

Now, according to your other question you can't play on the battle .net nless you have the original copy of the game!

I dont think games have looked any better since 2019 onwards and they are performing worse and worse. Game developers have really dropped the ball.
