Connectin to LIVE

i wanna connct to LIVE using my pc,so i wannaknow how to set up network sharing on a wired cable connection
plz tell me how

also,a friend told me how to,he said
1-connect ur cable to,one end to one computer cable port on the pc and one on the xbox 360
2-connect the original cable to ur pc,and start the computer

he wouldnt tell me the next step
if he's wrong,plz tell me
and if he's right,continue with the next step
