Comsats Internet Services

Hey guys, It's been a while since I have been on here, It's good to be back and gain some information about Pakistan and the gaming community in it.

I have switched from 3 Wifis in the past year(2017-2018), from PTCL to Qubee to Witribe and None of them gave a sufficient or good speed and ping within gaming or downloading or streaming,

I had to mess my sleep schedule up for it, staying awake at 1-11 am and sleeping at 12 pm, Although recently I have found out that there is Comsats internet services for 5000 rupees a month for 5mbps.

I currently live in Bharakahu so I have no access to Nayatel or other good connections, Is comsats internet services good or should I look for something else?

I used zong 4g weekly and sometimes it gives me good ping but huge packet loss, I have a zong 4g device i use sometimes and I also used ufone personal hotspot wise and i get 180-200 ms in CSGO.

Has anyone checked out Comsats internet services? Would it be worth it to try it out?

I inquired about COMSATS a few years back, they were willing to install at my place. Not only were their installation costs very high, but the monthly charges were ridiculous. 6-7k a month for 6 Mbps.

They also mentioned they'd be using the ISM band for providing this, that band is very widely used across Pak, so you'd definitely be affected by interference in some way, which is why I believe they're only offering low speed packages.

The equipment they install is decent, Ubiquiti antennas and whatnot, but not worth it to be honest. Since it's wireless, your speed may be consistent, but the latency will be all over the place, so gaming would probably be a pain in the ass.

If you get good signal of Jazz, try their 4G. Borrow a SIM from someone before buying an MBB though.

I have done jazz as well and the speeds didn't even compare or did show anything, extremely slow.

I recently inquired about comsat and they sent me an email with tariff details. Initial charges are 15000 for equipment and installation. 5mb is for 16000 per month and 10mb for 28000.

Hello!

One can try setting up own Ubiquiti long range network in this case using the help of a friend or relative residing in any place where there is good Internet access, within the range of the system of course! Can try https://link.ubnt.com !

Hope this helps!

Ahmed

Hi, I too am residing in Ahmed Town, BharaKahu. I did some research on the available ISPs. Nayatel was the first choice but its not available in most parts of BharaKahu. PTCL lines in my area are in very bad condition, they couldn't even support 4MB connection. Then I was told that there is a company named "Airnet" which is providing good speeds in very economical price as compared to COMSATS (4MB for Rs. 2500 per month). As COMSATS was very expensive, 5MB for Rs. 4500 for the first year and then approx. Rs. 3400 per month after that, I decided to go with the Airnet. Initially it was really good but with time I started encountering problems, specially the most painful disconnectivity issues. The speeds were good overall considering it's wireless connection. I get around 25-50ms ping, 350-500kbps download and upload speed. But frequent disconnections was not bearable.

Now, I have decided to go with COMSATS. I know it's expensive but I think I have ran out of options.

Try using zong 4g, i use it at the moment and it's perfect, try to see if nayatel is available around your area as i think it is, in my area it isn't but hopefully it will be in yours.

Zong 4G sucks during peak time, 6:00pm to 12:00am. Otherwise its not that bad. By the way my usage is quite heavy so I wanted an ISP that provides unlimited bandwidth...

I got my COMSATS connection a few days ago. One thing that I am impressed about is the stability of the connection. It hasn't disconnected even for once! Stability was my 1st priority. As far as speed is concerned, I am not that happy with it so far. For a 5MB connection I think I should get somewhere around 4-4.5MB. But at the moment, I am getting an average of 3.5MB (3.8MB MAX). And by the way, there is no issue of peak time vs off-peak time, its constant throughout the day... I dont know if its any issue or not... I will try it for at least a week and check if the speed gets better otherwise I will check with their costumer support regarding this issue.

I installed Comsats aswell yesterday and I am satisfied with the ping, although the 5mb myself get around 300-350 kb, Still wondering why as well, but other wise it's pretty good for stability, they should give the 4-4.5mb peak for 5 mb if we're paying that much..

Ive done a lot of research on this. Doesnt seem feasable if the range is more than 2-3 km
Hello Again!

Yes it can get expensive and complicated (as it requires line of sight), but, if it works well then other people around you can also benefit from it ... and might contribute as well!

Note: Ubiquiti is not the only player/solution ... there are other providers ... diy projects even
