Hi, my 5 years old dell optiplex gx620 stop working. The repair shop even washed it, whatever that is but the motherboard isn't coming back to alive. in the market they are few companies n their models.

Since i I want to use my Hdmi port for my monitor, I'm sure I wouldn't find any desktop with built in hdmi unless I add Gpu. I understand gpu should be bought new only n not used.

I can salvage my 2 sata Hdd, Dvdrw rom, ddr2 ram, I can sell my gx620, processors, mobo n desktop with psu as scrap.

this is for reference only., as I will buy from the market regal or uni plaza.

Also, I buying 1tb Seagate Hdd, n I plan to use all three Hdd in the new desktop or if needed sell one of the old Hdd. I can opt for ddr3 too based desktop or tower, so I'm not worried abt my old ddr2 ram too.

Firstly, dell optiplex tower supports 302watts n desktop supports 250 watts. I can fit 2 Hdd in desktop with one Dvdrw rom (which I did in my optiplex gx620).
Secondly, which dell optiplex should I considered. Some r ddr2 based n some r ddr3 based but in the same model. The famous models these days are dell optiplex 745, 755, 760, 780. Then we have hp brand and Lenovo brand refurbished desktop n tower. I will update once I go to the market of all second hand refurbished system.
Thirdly, most of them r core2duo, few r core2quad, n i3 first n second gen. If I going for core2duo which system, otherwise if core2quad which model then I will ask in the market. Same for i3.
Fourthly, desktop or tower?
Fifthly, which can support Gpu for Hdmi with 1gb n which can be use in Haswell system later on.
Sixthly, can I change my psu as well, so that I can play advance games even in med setting in 1080 or full hd. Playing online n offline like injustice, cod, batman Arkram, n many more. ( not a gamer, but I would like to play now n then).
Seventhly, should support 2-3 Hdd sata support which can run 1Tb Hdd Seagate, 2 x 250gb Sata Hdd each.

If I forgot anything advice me. Need to buy asap. My budget is low that why I'm not going for higher one.
I will get better rate in the market, but these site is for reference only. My budget is max 5000-8000
I will use it for 3-5 yrs, that how long it will last before expired.

I got an offer for optiplex745 to exchange my with my optiplex gx 620. I need to pay Rs.2500/- only, since my exisiting dvdrw rom, ram, Hdd, keyboard n mouse will be used. So I am basically getting tower, mobo, processor, built in psu 305w. but I'm not interested in too old since it will feel I bought another gx620.

But out I will still be looking here too

You have a few misconceptions and a few wrong ideas. First of all buying a dell branded PC isn't worth it. Costs more. Has weak PSU. Not properly ventilated and overall no real advantage except for the myth that branded PCs are better. You have a very limited budget and you can't make a gaming PC out of it but you can at least get a start with a w board processor ram and the stuff that you have left over from your previous PC. Find a cheap 2ng gen h61 mobo. You should be able to get one for around 3.5 to 4k. A 2nd Gen Pentium G processor will also cost around 2k. and you can buy a 4 gb ddr3 stick for around 2 to 2.5k. Every 2nd Gen board has HDMI port so you don't necessarily have to get a GPU for now. Save up for a good GPU later on. Right now upgrade these 3 components. Get a cheap chinese casing. would cost less than thousand and an average used PSU might cost 1.5 to 2k that would support most low mid end GPUs.

Advantage with this setup is that later on you can swap out the pentium G processor with any 2nd or 3rd gen processor and 2nd/3rd gen i5 will last you quite a while. You don't have to worry about GPU compatibility they support everything just make sure you have a good enough PSU. In short forget about the branded PCs and make one yourself. It would be cheap and would be great value for money.

Ok I will look at it but the budget will comes to around 11-13k according to expected u told me, which is same for hp elite 8100 I think.
A question which used psu should be bought with how much watts n how long do u think psu should last.

i will check the market on Monday n also in the forum.

Another question, do u think I can make a a 4th gen system, with i3 processor, motherboard with Hdmi, 8gb ddr3 ram, casing, psu, n possible Gpu under 20k ! some of them still has warranty too?

I looked up the model you mentioned and its 1st gen. There is a huge performance gap between first and 2nd/3rd gen. No one here would recommend you to go for 1st gen. There are many good PSUs here on market place around 2k price mark. And no you can't build a haswell i3 with gpu under 20k. but going for haswell is stupid when you are short on budget. Haswell doesn't have much of an advantage over 2nd/3rd gen when it comes to gaming. I would suggest you to stick look for used setup that I mentioned in the previous post since you have a very limited budget.

A 2nd Gen i3 will perform almost same as 4th gen i3, so spending lot of cash on latest cpu is simply waste of money especially when you're on low budget. a used end i3 will do a great job plus a you can save huge cash on it i:e around 3-4K, comparing to 4th gen.

For the PSU you can get good quality psu from PG market, under 3K. Like Corsair VX550w. it can run 280x, 970, 960 easily. search PG market you will find any.

Optiplex 9020

I was thinking of purchasing a Dell Optiplex 9020 i7 4770 3.4, 8gb ram, 500 Gb HDD with 290 watts stock psu (Dell orig). Can I run Gtx 950 or Gtx 960 on this system? I have heard I would need a Sata to 6-pin adapter to connect the VGA. But would the PSU support the VGA card?

Another option I was thinking was that I have the Dell Precision 390 stock PSU which is about 360 watts. Is it possible that I replace the Optiplex9020 PSU with the Precision 390 PSU?

Waiting for you advice!!
