Hi guys,

My last UPS from a 5,6 years ago is almost busted. I bought from systek brand and it served me well. It is compatible with 3 big car batteries so the overall backup time was really good upwareds of 6-10 hours depending on load.

Its been many years since I bought it and I understand technology has probably improved. What kind of UPS are you using at home and with what kind of batteries? What would you recommend to someone now who has to upgrade/change UPS again. I was abraod last few years and my dad threw out the old batteries. I forgot if they were AGS or Phoenix brand so I need some advise in this regards.

Thank you.

buy APC BRAND UPS .. they are pure sine wave in technology .. buitin stabilizer and transformer .. it ur load is under 900 watts then buy its 1.5kva ups that makes 980 watts .. works with 2 batteries .. but if ur load is above 900 watts then go for its 3kva ups .. it works with 4 batteries .. no humming sounf from fan and no restating issue in PC and LED tvs .. check out this url www.uwt.com.pk .. they exist in lahore city .. very professional company .. new APC is very expensive .. so u can buy its used one

Thank you i'll check those out. APC, as I understand have usually small batteries for short loadshedding. I initially went with 3 big tractor batteries with my old Systek UPS and that thing was a tank. I'm trying to setup a similar system so as my work doesn't get disrupted over the rare 6-8 hours loadshedding (which I believe won't be as rare in summers anyway).

yes ! by default they do come with small rating batteries but here in pakistan they are customized to work with hi rating batteries like AGS etc .. i am also using it at home with my fans lites with 2 batteries of AGS 175 AMPERES ... they are giving me 6 to 7 hours backup time

I own SMT1500i and SMT2200i with OEM internal batteries, but you can have these modified by an engineer to work with an external Lead/Acid or Dry Cell but be sure to buy tubular / deep discharge batteries that are designed for UPS and not automotive batteries.

What's your load on 1500i and how much backup time do you get?

I run about 150W on it and in the beginning it gave 2ish hours but now its barely giving 30mins on 50watt load. I called someone and they said these UPS are only good for shortbackup.. He also said SMT1500 cannot be converted to Acid battery. For that I would need SUA1500

Inverex Veyron 1200w (1.2kw). Power Factor is claimed to be unity!
1 fan = 60-100w (There are energy saver fans that consume only 52w at max speed)
PC power consumption depends on your setup including monitor
32inch LED consumes like 35-70w unless u have really bad led and it consumes over 100w
42inch LED = 55-80w (power consumption also depends on settings like brightness etc etc)
55inch LED = 100w+ (Could be less but this is an approximation from google)

I have Delux 1000VA(1000w) Pure Sine Wave, But its power factor is 0.7 so its wattage is 700w instead of 1000w!
-With overclocking turned on cpu running upto 5.1ghz during gta v. Load was 3 bars which equals to 420w (but was probably more like 470ish). Whenever there is loadshedding ups gave error and turned off saying "Unusual". Then i have to go manually turn on ups and it runs fine. It has some sort of issue during switching.
-But when my PC is turned off and i even put full 700w load by turning on all fans and lights ups never shuts down during loadshedding xD
-Also when i turn on my pc my fan speed changes and lights flicker for a moment. Same goes for my monitor which consumes only 27w
Point is somehow my ups has issues with my PC. And atm i dont have money to change i wish i had invested in a ups with better design or what atm i believe is a sign of good ups is 1. Pure Sine Wave, 2. Power Factor = 1(unity)
-Atm i have underclocked my cpu and gpu and by a huge amount and it consumes i believe like 40w(CPU)+25w(Motherboard)+35w(GPU)+27w(monitor)....Total = 127w
-With such low settings my ups has stopped shutting down during switching(power cut).
-Point is i wish i had better ups and i could run my pc with full power during that 1 hour of loadshedding. i have 190AH battery...

According to a calculator i found through google, my ups can give backup of following with 190AH Pheonix battery (12v system)
100w = 22 hours, 200w = 11 hours, 300w = 7.6 hours
400w = 5.7 hours, 500w = 4.5 hours, 600w = 3.8 hours
(But these are theoratical numbers, in real life u will get probably less because i dont believe batteries AH rating are true+so many other factors.)

Yes switching time also plays a crucial rule but as far as i know APC dont support "Lead Acid" Batteries.
+ i need to run fans+lights too and planning on running led tv aswell since i have big enough battery.
Not sure if APC can run all these things.
+my power supply hold up time is 17ms and ups switching time is probably 3-8ms even tho its not a good ups for pc!

Buy Inverex Veyron 2.5 kw and use it with dual batteries. It'll easily provide backup for 7~8 hours. This inverter also provides pure sinewave so your electrical appliances won't restart.

24v system is too costly and if one battery goes bad you cannot be 100% sure of which one is faulty
and regarding inverex i am kinda seeing posts against it in "Voice of Customer" fb-group.
i was thinking about buying it but now idk! i will stick with my current ups probably
