Well I've already made a thread on Studying Abroad,now I am making this thread so that people who are applying to universities in Pakistan can benefit.
This thread will serve as a place where members can post their problems while applying to universities in Pakistan and other members can help them out .
I DO NOT have much knowledge about applying to universities here so if anyone does then please Pm or Vm me the ideas and I will add them to this thread


First thing which needs to be checked before you apply to a University here is that if it is recognized by the Higher Education commission also known as the HEC

Requirements:

There are many Universities in Pakistan and different universities have different requirements and criterias.
For Instance if you have done your O and A levels and wish to join Punjab University for lets say Law then they will not accept you into their LLB programme.
You will be asked to get an equivalence certificate from the IBCC.Then once you have your Equivalence Certificate,you must appear in the B.A examinations and clear them in order to gain admission in Punjab University.Same goes for all Governmental institutes in Pakistan.

Many universities accept O/A levels too.
Many people turn to Lahore University of Management Sciences after they have completed their A levels,O levels or FSC.Here is the admission criteria of LUMS for BSc honors programmes

Selection Criteria:

Students are selected for admission to LUMS based on the following factors:

1. Academic Background
2. Performance in the Admission Test(s)
3. Submission of a completed application form (and all required supporting documents)
4. Interview (if called)

All admission decisions are taken by the Undergraduate Admissions Committee and are final.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Admissions:

1. Applicants who have successfully completed FA/ICS/ICOM/FSc/A’ Levels/High School Diploma or International Baccalaureate are eligible to apply for admission if they fulfill one of the following academic qualifications:
   1. Successful completion of Matric (60% marks or above) and FA (60% marks or above)/FSc/ ICS/ICOM (65% marks or above)
   2. O’ Levels results (in at least 6 subjects) and A’ Levels in at least 3 principal [SUP]1[/SUP] subjects (with at least 2 Bs and 1 C grade such that there should be no more than 1 C grade and no grade less than a C across three principal subjects in the A' Level examination. No credit will be given for General Paper.
   3. American High School Diploma (80% or above or Grade point average of B or above)
   4. International Baccalaureate (at least 30 out of 45 points)
   5. Combinations of the above
2. Applicants who have not taken the final exams of their FA/ICS/ICOM/FSc/A’ Levels (in three principal subjects)/High School Diploma or International Baccalaureate as yet and are expecting their final results by August 2012 will be given a conditional offer. Applicants must fulfill one of the following academic qualifications to be considered for a conditional offer:
   1. Successful completion of Matric (with at least 60% marks) and FA 1st year (60% marks or above) /FSc/ ICS/ ICOM 1st year (65% marks or above)
   2. O’ Levels results (in at least six subjects)
   3. American High School Diploma (9th, 10th, & 11th year) results with 80% marks or above or Grade point average of B or above
   4. International Baccalaureate (first year) results (at least 30 out of 45 points

Applicants who are made a conditional offer must subsequently meet one of the following conditions for admission to LUMS by August 2012:

• Successful completion of FA/ICS/ICOM/FSc. FA (60% marks or above) / FSc/ICS/ICOM (65% marks or above)
• A’ Levels in 3 principal subjects (with at least 2 Bs and 1 C grade such that there should be no more than 1 C grade and no grade less than a C across three principal subjects in the A' Level examination)
• American High School Diploma (minimum required grades for the 12th year HSD will be decided by the Admissions Committee)
• International Baccalaureate (at least 30 out of 45 points)

Note:



Candidates who have either completed or are in the last year of completion of 12 years of Education which does not lead to FA/ICS/ICOM/FSc/A’ Level or International Baccalaureate Certification will be required to get an equivalence certificate from the
Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), Islamabad
,
Pakistan.

Candidates who have already completed their A' Levels (have taken the exam of minimum three A' levels (principal subjects) and do not meet the minimum grades requirement (specified in subsection I–a) must improve their grades in order to be eligible for admission. A' Levels Exams are held in November and June. To be eligible for the admission in 2012, students must improve their A' Level grades in
November 2011
exams.

Applicants planning to improve their grades by taking June 2012 exams are not eligible for the Fall 2012 session.Applicants should be aware that the presentation of incorrect/false/forged/fraudulent information or document in connection with admission to the LUMS Undergraduate Programme is a criminal offence and the University reserves the right to initiate appropriate action.



LUMS Common Admission Test (LCAT):



The LCAT is a multiple choice test similar to the SAT I in terms of the type of questions. Like the SAT I, it measures reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
Difficulty Level: O’ Level/Matriculation
Question Type: Multiple choice and Paragraph writing
Preparation: Any SAT I preparation book
The LCAT consists of seven (7) sections each of 25 minutes each. All sections are compulsory. First six (6) sections are a combination of verbal and math sections. The last section is of Paragraph writing.


Registration For LCAT:
The LUMS Admission Test Registration will be done through the LUMS online application system at:http://admissions.lums.edu.pk


Submission of a Completed Application Form:

The following is required:

• A completed online application form;
• The application processing fee of PKR 4,000* (for Pakistani Residents only)
• The application processing fee of US $100 (for Foreign/overseas residents only)
• [SUP]2[/SUP]The LCAT registration fee of PKR 1,500* (if applying to SHSSL and/or SDSB)
• The SSE Admission Test registration fee of PKR 1,500* (if applying to SSE)
• [SUP]3[/SUP]Attested/Certified Copies of Complete Academic Transcripts and Certificates of:
  • Matric or O' Level or American High School - 9th and 10th grade complete results;
  • FA/ICOM (if applicable)/FSc/ICS complete result or FA/ICOM (if applicable)/FSc/ICS first year result (in case the FA/ICOM/FSc/ICS final exam has not been taken yet)
    OR
    A' Level complete result or grades for any A' Level subject(s) completed or A' Level first year results (in case the A' Level final exam of three principal subjects has not been taken yet)[SUP]4[/SUP]
    OR
    American High School complete result or up to 11th grade results (in case the High School Diploma 12th Grade final exam has not been taken yet)
    OR
    International Baccalaureate complete result or International Baccalaureate first year complete results(in case the IB final exam has not been taken yet);
    
• Equivalence Certificate (for applicants who have completed their degrees other than FA/FSc/ICS/ICOM/A’Levels or IB;
• SAT Score reports
  • SAT score report (s) (required for overseas applicants exempted from the LCAT/ SSE Admission Test);
  • Students who are taking LUMS Admission Test(s) and have also taken/are planning to take the SAT are encouraged to submit a copy of their SAT score report(s);
• Four passport size photographs with off-white background;
• Proof of payment;
• All supporting documents (where applicable)
  • Supporting documents for Financial Aid (as specified in the online application form)
  • Teacher Evaluations
  • Creative Space/Essay/Personal Statement
  • Additional Information Document

[SUP]2[/SUP] Applicants taking both LCAT and SSE Admission Test will pay a total of PKR 3000/-as Test Registration Fee in addition to the application processing fee of PKR 4000/-.
[SUP]3[/SUP] Transcripts and certificates should be attested from School’s administration.
[SUP]4[/SUP] Applicants taking their A’ levels or AS level exam in November 2011 are required to submit the final result within three days of its announcement; however, they must provide this information through online application form and by submitting a copy of the"Statement of entry" along with all other supporting documents.

On the other hand,
if you have finished your O/A levels and wish to join LSE then you just have to download their admission form,fill it out and send it.Lse requires an average of C in you A levels and C's in O Level English and Maths.If you are accepted in the initial stages then they call you for an interview and you have an entry exam.



Some universities accept High school diplomas also known as HSD but they require certain exams/tests such as S.A.T. etc



Admissions:

Well the admissions process in Pakistan isnt a really hard one.
In some universities you can apply online and in some you have to print the admission form out,complete it and then post or submit it.
Many people turn to Lahore University of Management Sciences after they have completed their A levels,O levels or FSC.The admission criteria of LUMS is posted in the spoiler above,the method of applying is also included.

Fee structure:

This varies from university to university too.
Lahore school of economics will charge a fee of 105k per semester whereas universities like LUMS charges around 480k .
The fee structure in Pakistan cannot be defined easily because each university has its own structure.
If anyone wants to find out what the fee structure of their desired university is then they should visit their website by googling the name

m thinking abt LSE but on their site its stated that 3.0 is the requirement!! Help plz!

Ive studied there for 6 months ...many of my friends had a GPA below 1 but they still didnt kick em out ...thus you can never rely on what they or their site says

Agreed!! it has always been that case, and it will continue to do so despite their insistence, so just apply insha'Allah you will get in!!
