So thinking of buying something from amazon and it seems to be calculating shipping and customs duty itself and adding that price into order automatically.
My question is that accurate or will i have to pay extra to local Pakistan'i mafia? Anyone have experience ordering directly from amazon to your doorstep?
Here's a screenshot with example:

Because the said item is more expensive in Pakistan locally even after paying $200 shipping and import with amazon.

dude what is the item ? amazon doesnt ship anything other than movies, music cds and books to pk thats it
I think that's old news. You can now order most things from amazon at get them shipped to Pakistan address. Even computer items like processors/graphics cards can be bought.
Exceptions are heavier items like chassis or mobile phones.

Here's an example:

You seem to be in disbelief that amazon don't ship to Pakistan. Things have changed since last year, my friend got an EVGA 2080 Super FTW shipped directly from amazon to Lahore last year.
Here is another proof for you, sold and shipped to Pakistan directly from amazon:

Anyway my original question still stands about customs duty. Reading amazon faqs they say custom is an estimate, any extra will be amazon liability and if custom picked by amazon as greater then actually paid then amount will be transferred back. I am looking to order 3080 directly from amazon as soon as it comes in stock since in Pakistan there is no signs of it.

Bro you can have it delivered, it will reach here at it will be inspected at pak customs, now I don't know if it is considered a luxury item or not, because the custom duties go from 40 % (perfumes ) to 300%.i ordered a simple pen from ali express , the net cost was 1000 rs , I ended up paying 300rs to customs. its the new dog eat dog system better yet if a friend is coming let it come that way might as well pay 50$ premium to him rather than risk who investment.

If someone else wants to know, this was due to Asad Umar's negotiations with amazon that they started shipping most things to Pakistan directly with creating a method for taking custom duty directly from customer.
According to my internal sources, there were also good amount of talks with paypal to get paypal/ebay in Pakistan but there were some concerns by the State Bank of Pakistan. Things could have easily resolved with 6-12 months but he was changed from the finance ministry and things went into cold storage and no other meetings were held after that.

hmm so yeah looks like they started shipping to pakistan BUT its way way too expensive. 60$ game, plus 40$ shipment plus 30$ import fees. too MUCH.

if you are paying for the import fees than there shouldn't be any more customs you need to pay here than. it would probably be delivered to you via fedex, ups or dhl any of these three in my experience since they are charging high postage.

If Amazon is charging item price + import fees then customs shouldn't charge anything when the item arrives here...or who knows maybe they do

Don't really know but as far as I've heard and other say, if it's being shipped through DHL/Fedux then you shouldn't get charged by customs but who knows. THIS IS PAKISTAN.

The Custom Duty fees on most computer components is around 3% but since it's a mafia they can charge anything they want or so I've heard.

I went ahead and ordered something from alibaba just to test this whole thing out. According to the seller there he is gonna ship through DHL and told me that usually they handle customs themselves and you won't have to pay extra. I'll post the details when I get the item.

UPDATE:- So I got the notification from DHL that customs processing is cleared. The product should arrive in a day or two at my doorstep. Let's see if there's any customs ke parchi attached or not. I'm hoping not XD

The only charges that I had to give uptill now are 3% fees for transaction via debit card and 2% for international purchase for non-filers. It's 1% for filers.

EDIT:- Ok shipment arrived. Had to pay 9.7k extra lol. I'll upload a copy of the charges listed on the receipt soon.

Anybody know the details for all these charges? XD All I know is 17% sales tax but it amounts to around 4.3K and I thought I heard it was being exempted for computer parts. Neverthless these are the details. Hope it helps anyone trying to import things from the outside

Also as I said earlier CD for computer parts is around 3%. That should amount to around 763 RS. Don't know why they charged 1,273 RS. So I guess it's true, you can expect varying amounts of CD.

This is from amazon:
Calculating Fees
When you order products from AmazonGlobal for shipment to countries or regions outside of the U.S., UK, or EU countries or from Amazon Global Store for shipment to the U.S. or other countries, an estimate of the Import Fees will be levied on those items in your order. With your authorization, these funds are used by the carrier or another agent to pay the Import Fees on your behalf (or the recipient's behalf) to the appropriate authorities of the destination country ("Import Fees Deposit"). The payment of import fees is the responsibility of the importer and is levied based on the laws of the country into which the products are being shipped.

Import Fees Deposits will vary depending on the selected shipping method. The Import Fees Deposit is an estimation of the taxes and duties that may apply and isn't an actual calculation. Customs regulations and tax rates applicable to certain goods may change between the date the taxes and duties were estimated and the applicable taxes and duties on the date of import into the destination country. The duty or tax rate is often determined by the classification of a good, which varies by country and region.

Duties and taxes are calculated according to the shipping destination's customs regulations. Typically, this calculation is based on our product price and shipping, before any promotions. This allows destination country customs authorities to obtain the accurate import duties and taxes owed to them based on the actual value of the goods. For more information, go to About Customs, Duties & Taxes.

You won't be charged additional fees if the actual Import Fees exceed the Import Fees Deposit we estimated. For items sold by Amazon Marketplace sellers, please check the seller's policies.

If the actual Import Fees are less than the Import Fees Deposit collected by us on your behalf, you'll automatically be refunded the difference to the payment method you used for the order.
You'll receive a notification e-mail confirming the amount of the refund. The refunds will be processed as and when we receive carrier invoices confirming the actual Import Fees.

Note:

  • The cost to ship items from each product category to international destinations varies by item, shipment, and shipping option.
  • The above terms also apply to the shipment of any replacement product that might be shipped if there's a problem with the original shipment. If you return a product to us, you'll be the exporter from the original shipping destination and will be responsible for compliance with all export laws of that country or regions.

No I ordered from alibaba. He took fees for shipping the package to karachi. Then I had to pay the above charges additionally xD
Just posted this as a reference, don't know if amazon follows the same procedure as alibaba
With amazon you have to pay upfront import fees deposit calculated by amazon. This applies to items shipped directly from amazon and not other sellers. You can see my above post for detailed procedure.

For Saudi Arabia, Amazon has multiple times refunded to me a small amount from the Import Fees that it collected during checkout.

Amazon's policies are quite 🍇

If this is true then this is pretty dope xDD All you can do is try checking with a cheap item around 20k.

Not really a good idea since shipping from amazon is gonna cost you from anywhere to 6k-10k.
Its good for expensive items like GPU when even after paying shipping and customs it still sometimes become cheaper then our local market rates. Only downside is ofcourse no local warranty.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
