A GPU to replace my dead GTX 670

Asalam o alekum everyone,

It must be obvious from the title, my GTX 670 gave up on me yesterday after staying with me for the past 5 years. I was playing Rise of the tomb raider and the screen went blank the PC would not respond to any inputs so i simply pushed the restart button and there i was greeted with the infamous artifacts on the screen. What a time to die dammit, the GPU prices are ridiculous right now even a 1050ti is going for like 30k everywhere. I mean screw this the 670 was enough for me

What should i do? I game at 1080p i am willing to turn down a few settings to get better frame rate but i don't want to spend a ridiculous amount for a shit GPU. Should i wait so that the new line of GPU's arrive and the older ones get cheaper?

The rest of my system specs are:
CPU: Core i5 2500k
RAM: 8 GB

I am not looking to upgrade the rest of the things right now just the GPU since i am happy with the performance of my processor.

I have cousins in dubai, they are coming to Pakistan in August i tried looking for some deals online but they are more expensive in dubai

Also how much performance difference is there in the 1050ti & the 1060 3gb variant?
Getting the 1050ti for 30k & 1060 3gig version for 34.5k

1060 3gb give almost 15fps more than 1050ti. If you have the money get the 1060 3gb.

AoA, so sad aboutyour GPU.
I can understand your feelings now cause these was once on me with 980 ti hydro copper.
Then i found A guy in hafeez centre "Reballing Specialist" he ask he can fix that, i spend 6k on it and he fixed it.

Rebailling is not a permanent fix as far as i know. How long did u use after the reballing it?

Yo you can get a 750 ti or rx 460 or maybe a gtx*950 in 12 ~ 15 k those are good when you don't want to spend 30k and you can play it on high ~ medium 1080p settings on those 3 cards .
Depends on you what kind of gpu you want . my cousin bought a rx 460 2gb it's good for late title games. and cheap to.

Those cards are a bit too low end. I wanted to get something that at least matches the performance of GTX670.

I am getting an imported unused zotac GTX 1050ti for 24k should i pull the trigger? Considering the fact that they go for like 30k in the local market.

People around here are so scared about these issues, nothing happend to it after reball. It was working fine with no issue i sell it cause i need cash, its on another way, BTW that was an expensive card so i have to send it for repairing. You can buy a decent gpu like 970 in used in ypur range instead of gtx 1050,

I have a 1050ti. Can game on it on high settings. Buy it with eyes closed. Get that zotac one or check olx. It will serve you well for two more years.

The thing is i don't know anyone in peshawar who will do it properly and i am sure they won't take any responsibility after checking it at their shop. So if i spend extra money on the GPU and end up getting just 15-20 days out of it, it won't be worth it. I am sure a lot of people who tried it will tell you the same thing, as far as i have read and seen very rarely does a card work for a long time after rebailling and it also depends upon the type of damage the card has taken as well. In your case if your card worked for long then you are lucky and since it was an expensive GPU spending 6k on repairing it made sense. I have decided to buy a new GTX 1060 3GB and keep it for 3 years (if it lasts that long :laugh1

Yes thought about it last night and have decided to get the 1060 3GB

P.S. All of the nvidia GPU's i have owned have died, the first one was a Geforce MX 400, 2nd a 9800GT, then a GTX460 and now the GTX670

nVidia gpus are hard to keep alive. AMD gpus on the other hand age like fine wine.
