1070 Black Screen + 100 FAN Boost

Hi Everyone,

I am facing this issue with ROG Strix 1070, as its going into black screen on LCD and GPU FAN 100%. I have done below mentioned things but still problem is there.

PC Specs

6700K Stock
16GB RAM
Gigabyte G1 Mobo
1070
Corsair RM 750

Fresh OS Install
Fresh GPU Drivers
Thermal Paste Replaced

Without GPU drivers display system runs fine as soon i install drivers and installation reaches at 90 screen flicker goes black , FAM 100 n PC stuck.

Couple of suggestions from me if you like.

1. Try using an older gpu drivers
2. Check your gpu on your friends PC
3. Try installing driver in Safe Mode
4. Check on POP OS Nvidia build (No need to install OS, just use Live USB)

Already check point no.1, no use. Will check the rest n let u know

Did you install Windows from Microsoft's site via "Create Windows 10 installation media" https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10

Thermal Paste Replaced

Did you replace GPU's thermal paste?
Which thermal paste did you use?
Did you assemble it back properly?
Did the GPU chip have proper contact with the HSF?

Sounds like after driver installation, the driver selects a resolution that is unsupported by your LCD, maybe change your screen and test again.

FAM 100 n PC stuck.

Do you have any GPU fan speed software installed, like After Burner etc?
If the screen is black then how did you know that PC is stuck?
Does your Motherboard give any Post Code or beeps?
Have you rechecked all the PSU cables and your video output cables?

Which thermal paste did you use? (CM)
Did you assemble it back properly? (Yes)

Sounds like after driver installation, the driver selects a resolution that is unsupported by your LCD, maybe change your screen and test again.

Without Nvidia drivers its running fine on QHD via DP, but still fans not spinning.



Do you have any GPU fan speed software installed, like After Burner etc? (Yes)
If the screen is black then how did you know that PC is stuck? (CAPS lock or any key is not responding)
Does your Motherboard give any Post Code or beeps?(No)
Have you rechecked all the PSU cables and your video output cables?(Yes, replaced the 2nd 8pin Connector)

Reset Afterburner to default, reset any overclocks on Afterburner, Uninstall Afterburner

I have already removed card running on stock. I have already installed fresh OS.
