Saudi Arabia has banned Final Fantasy XVI due to sex scenes, drug use, prostitution, and a gay scene in the game. Other GCC countries are expected to follow soon.

Agreed 100 percent. I am not buying at launch as well.

So many other good games on PS5. TBH, Square Enix have become dull. The last good game I enjoyed was FFXII. The previous two FF games were boring and woke.

"To tell you the truth, it's pretty much just chocobos," FFXVI director Hiroshi Takai tells [Game Informer]. "In past Final Fantasy games, you'd have canoes or boats or cars to travel in. But in Final Fantasy XVI, because our game is based on that main world map and traveling from that world map and doing fast travel from that, we found that there wasn't really a need for any kind of expanded type of traversal systems. So yeah, currently, we only have walking and the chocobos."

Yeah they've stopped doing open worlds, all modern FF games since PS3 onward have been zone-based. Not surprising. You can't exactly just do chibby super deformed worlds for air ships like the PS1 days anymore.

It can be average at leveraging technology to open up new gameplay opportunities and still be a better game. The two aren't mutually exclusive

The DMC combat director being heavily involved in this game is probably the smartest decision Square has made in reference to mainline FF games in almost a decade.

Square Enix Final Fantasy games have been going downhill ever since FF13. The game sucks, and I have no hope for their gay invested 16th iteration of the series.

Final Fantasy XVI looks bland as compared to Elden Ring and even Wo Long.
