PSVR 2 - Hands on, first impressions - pretty great!
temp-File-For-Share-20230320-174036-2

Tried Horizon demo and RE Village...GT7 soon, not yet

+ The onboarding experience was great - concise, simple and clear
+ Headset is quite comfortable - cable, weight, fit is all on this positive side. Plenty of adjustment
+ Dont know about internal lag numbers, but no noticeable issues
+ Screen and experience is incredible.
+ Sense controllers are great, the rumble, active triggers, weight..so good.

+/ - Audio from included headphone is just fine. Not great.

- Its a bit on expensive side still.
- Battery in sense controller is meh
- cant look good wearing any vr headset

RE Village I had already finished and am replaying it on PSVR 2...and its so so good...never felt this type of actually-causing-goosebumps and heart-pounding horror ever...super impressive work.

Horizon is wonderfully done. So many small details all around.

Battery life as per reviewers is between 4:15 to 4:45 hours. It takes about 1.5 hours to charge the battery. You can also play while it's charging.
Pretty impressive, imo.

But price is indeed high at $550, which is a dealbreaker for many. It costs more than a PS5!!

And the VR counterpart of games are just 4–6 hours long, again a dealbreaker for many people. For instance, Horizon Call of Mountains gameplay is only 6 hours while it is 29 hours for the non-VR game Horizon Forbidden West.
Considering the cost of Horizon VR at $59.99, the price does not justify the gameplay for many people. And this is the real deal breaker for me.

I believe this is a device that will attract early adopters and passionate gamers with extra cash on hand who crave a novel gaming experience.

If only the game library was large and games were 12+ hours long, I would have bought this device as the experience is out-of-the-world according to most reviewers. But more games and longer gameplay would require a larger market, which will take some time, maybe a decade or more.

Just out of curiosity. How good is the display for NON VR games ? I mean can it be an alternate for non vr PS5 games if the TV is occupied ?

I remember playing a non vr ps4 game on PSVR 1 and it was pretty horrendous to say the least.

Yes, totally, its a pretty decent oled screen esentially.
actually in my home setup, which has a 130inch,4k projector - it felt remarkable similar maybe due to precieved size. Like sitting in a cinema.

I played Fifa online, and won a couple of matches while wearing headset..similarly watched some YouTube and that worked well aswell.

@Chandoo : try RE Village on Psvr 2..feels like a totally different experience. Hard to explain in words.

Thanks for the review. If the screen is really comparable to a 4K 130-inch Screen, this is indeed a great device.

Considering the cost is much less than the HDTV or projector TV, it seems to be a great alternative for gamers without an expensive big screen.

@NaNoW: Didn't you find any shortcoming like grainy videos as the original PSVR? Is there any flaw with the screen as compared to a HDTV?

If the view is flawless, I may consider this in the future instead of investing in an expensive large screen, as PS5 is an entertainment center that can play games, stream movies, and play DVD movies.

And considering Xbox Series X|S does not officially support any VR headset, I believe Sony PS5 console will cement its position as the best console of the generation with this PCVR2 and a must-buy accessory.
But again, I will base this decision on your objective review regarding the screen quality for non-VR content.
would not compare directly replacing this for extended hours on any VR headset, as a general rule of thumb for health reasons, since you have massive lenses next to your eye.

Its a great alternate if you wanna have small game sessions where you can still take it off and relax your eyes. Or movie with a break or two inbetween.

By small game sessions, do you mean less than 3–4 hours or just 1–2 hours?

Only have these PSVR2 games so far.

Rez Infinite stands out as my favorite. Aiming via eye tracking is incredible, and the PS5/PSVR2 version looks brilliant with the addition of HDR support. Resident Evil Village is excellent in VR as well.

GT7 is just remarkable...nothing comes close to the immersion.
Really polished, super fun - PSVR 2 is worth it, if you are a petrol-head just for this experience alone.

Tried Drum rock
and now I am Gumby :D
Nice little game if you like music

Agreed with your review. I am itching to buy a VR headset in the near future due to the immersion of GT7 VR.

Just bought a PS5, so probably in the next year or two as a big investment from a Pakistani perspective.
$500 must be pocket money for people living abroad. But not for us.

Here's another review I liked about GT7 VR.

I believe Sony is breaking the boundaries of entertainment.

Remote Play is another great feature of the console. Nintendo and Xbox don't even come close.

Thank God for Sony and PlayStation that has been entertaining generations for decades.

A lot of great PSVR2 upcoming games in 2023.

At the moment, RE4 Remake, RE7 and GT7 are the only games that make PSVR2 attractive for me.
These game include both a full regular game and VR edition as a free DLC upgrade, which is a great value for money.

If more games like these are available, PSVR2 will be a must-buy for me.
I think I will wait till 2024 or at most 2025 to see whether the 'next generation' of gaming is a gimmick or the real deal.

Not selling a million units "during launch" in one thing. Potentially headed for a "complete disaster" is another. :ROFLMAO:

But what're you gonna do? Launching a VR headset without the best VR game ever made i.e. Half-life Alyx was a pretty dumb move on their part. So much for GT7 and Village VR being all that :ROFLMAO:

Imagine thinking a dumbed down experience is what PSVR2 needs. GT7 and RE Village make no compromises 🤜

Aur Steam Index ne barda teer maar lia hai Half-Life: Alyx ke saath launch ho ker :ROFLMAO:
