Just to add - Lumens and Nanites allow us this for the first time that we dont replace assets in the demo. Meaning there arent LOD asset switches. These are the same assets being rendered based on properties (render distance/priority/etc)

It's improper frame-pacing. You could refer to it as stutter, as VRR won't mitigate it. However, it's not the conventional stutter that can happens due to a variety of bottlenecks. It's an issue with the engine, specifically with how it handles a 30 fps cap 🤷‍♂️

Gen 1 Necrokiller also referred to it as a frame-pacing issue 7 years ago 🤷‍♂️
I still expect CDPR to be more communicative and show more effort in subsequent patches than Ubisoft or From Software, who have yet to fix the frame-pacing issues in Bloodborne which was released 2 months earlier than Witcher 3.

My math applies to conventional stutters driven by bottlenecks, not engine problems 🤷‍♂️

Improper frame-pacing isn't an issue in Dark Souls 3 or Sekiro running on the PS4 Pro, for example, despite the frame rate being all over the place 🤷‍♂️

I mean, how many console games can you count that have bad frame-pacing as a result of a 30 fps lock. Most, if not all, From Soft games 🤷‍♂️

The whole ps3/360 era is laced with barely 30 fps + improper framepacing issues in games..it's just back then we didn't have advanced tech channels to analyze stuff like this like we do now...the consoles have always swam in mediocrity when in comes to performance...but back then they actually had system seller exclusives and a general plug and play ease of use over PC. Both of these advantages are diminished now....

Also, japanese devs need to get thier shit together. They are often not as critiqued as thier Western counterparts despite most of them having shit graphics and even worst optimizations...they are still stuck in ps1 era of game making thinking horrible performance and mediocre graphics are justified if the game is good enough...they don't patch thier games, they have horrible buisness practices, fan service is over the top and cringy...I could go on and on...they should be held Up to higher level of scrutiny by fans

Yep. And the first "next-gen" demo that made some people go "holy sh*t", is a terrible mess on all platforms. But people here love to defend it 🤷‍♂️

Hell, some people even defended this mess 🤣

Elden Ring quality mode spikes above a consistent 33.3ms refresh, showing stutter. Meanwhile, the performance mode cannot sustain 16.7ms frame-times, with 33.3ms dips showing - yes - more stutter.

lol this is like saying "all patients in this ward have injuries" and herding up those who have minor bruises with those that need ICU. The UE5 Matrix demo has performance issues on consoles, but is largely playable (provided you're okay with 30 fps), while it runs like a slideshow in places on PC 🤣

Pasha, how do you feel about the tables turning this gen :p

Haven't you learned a lesson already? Its time for you to stop spreading misinformation. Guru Ledbetter already smashed your "math" and the logic associated with it 🥴🤷‍♂️🤣

Tables have turned....for the worst for consoles. Ignoring the lack of exclusives and the ease of use advantage over PC, they are now just getting 60fps (with compromised resolutions and subpar upscaling techniques....Khair I digress) while an average mid ranger PC ( a rtx 3060 with a core i5) are now looking UpTo 120+ frames in most games with vastly superior upscaling techniques. The only really next gen thing in a console right now is the SSD, which unfortunately is held back by cross gen ports.....

Pasha he really believes he will be playing all games at 60fps this generation on PS5. Don't ruin his dreams 🤣

Guru Leadbetter is only correct up until the 30 fps part. As far as Elden Ring's performance at 60 fps is concerned, he's simply wrong, and VRR fixes all judders above 48 fps on PS5 and 40 fps on the Series X). Refer to Alex for more accurate info on stutters 🤷‍♂️🥴

What good is 120 fps when several modern games suffer from stuttering issues on PC? An RTX 3090 / i9 combo preforms far worse than a PS5 or Series X in the UE5 Matrix demo, as seen in the DF video. There are plenty of other examples from this year alone that Alex has been highlighting.

Perhaps its time for CerebralTiger to publish his math and send it to Guru Ledbetter so he can become CerebralTiger's protege 🥴🤣
