It's quiet here. Either everyone's happy, or so frustrated that they've given up.
Because there is no such development in Pakistani Mobile networks. Zong is sleeping with its VoLTE. Telenor is shit as usual and hope is lost for it. Ufone is quitely increasing 4G coverage but not very fast. And Jazz is experimenting with CA combos in only selected areas of Islamabad.

In 2014 4G was rolled out in Pakistan and if networks are still experimenting .. phir to wakai me shabash hai

They have CA in Mardan and Jhelum too... and in other major cities of the country.

Not sure what experiments they're doing with CA because there are only two bands they can use.

But amongst them all, probably the most atrocious call qualities on 3G (and maybe 2G).

Not all companies rolled out 4G in Pakistan in 2014. And spectrum changes happened when users increases. Zong launched 4G with 10 MHz and Now their 4G total spectrum is 30 MHz and in future they will need more.

Similarly Jazz has largest 4G customer base in Pak. They are providing 2 way CA in 1800 and 900 MHz all over Pakistan. Since their 1800 and 900 MHz spectrum is contiguous they are experimenting with 3 way CA. Since 3G users are decreasing day by day, they think that 5 MHz of 2100 MHz is enough for 3G. So they are refarming 5 MHz out of 10 MHz for 4G. Parallely they have 14.4 MHz of 900 MHz. So they are considering to use 5 or 10 MHz out of it based of locations. So their 3 Way CA will in future be based on 20 MHz of 1800 MHz + 5 MHz of 2100 MHz + 5 or 10 MHz of 900 MHz. So once experiments successfully made we can see 30 or 35 MHz Jazz 4G depending on locations.

Zong has 25Mhz spectrum in the twin cities. They use 10Mhz for 2100Mhz (not sure where they're stealing the extra 5Mhz from) and 15Mhz for 1800Mhz.

Jazz has 25Mhz spectrum in a few remote places (even in the twin cities). Not all areas have CA so you'll see 20Mhz almost everywhere.

Regardless, in most places where signal strength is crap, Jazz still delivers better speeds (assuming backhaul is sufficient... And Jazz has begun to get choked on that now too; Zong's backhaul is iffy iffy and their data speeds/signals are also iffy iffy vs Jazz).

The spectrum for all operators is now contiguous (PTA did some reshuffling some time back). 3CA can only happen when there's non-contiguous spectrum.

India will roll out 5G in August-Sept
Spectrum auction in early June.
Pakistan was planning to appoint expert in early 2022 and expecting to roll out 5G in 2023.. Will this happen? Telcos are still unable to provide proper 3G/4G even 2G in different places. How can we expect 5G roll out?

I'm in Lahore right now and I've noticed that Zong has a combined spectrum of 30Mhz deployed (20+10) while Mobilink has 25 (20+5)

In Islamabad, Mobilink has 20+10 (30Mhz) and Zong has 15+10 (25Mhz) deployed.

I have no idea why this discrepancy exists, but at least the end results are similar for both (Zong just has better coverage because of the first mover advantage and has fewer blank pockets)

Zong's coverage at my place has been piss poor for a week now. Where am I supposed to complain about it?
PTA.

Show proof, Google Maps coordinates, signal values, data speeds, and whether it's inside or outside.

Unfortunately, PTA says the operators must meet -100dBm outside... But it's worth a try.

Otherwise you'll just have to opt for another operator.

It stays within -105 to -115dbm range both indoors and outdoors on 4G. Previously these were the values during loadshedding hours and normally it used to be around -75dbm on 4G. Now I think the tower is disabled completely near us.

UPDATE: Nevermind the issues seems to be fixed. Great speeds now.Screenshot_2022-07-13-18-19-08-330_org.zwanoo.android.speedtest.jpg

Surprisingly, Jazz is using 3CA (and I believe 4x4 MIMO) in Peshawar, with 20 MHz of B3 (1800), 5 MHz of B8 (900) and 5 MHz of B1 (2100).

Didn't have enough time to do more tests, but I did two back to back and got around 70 Mbps indoors. I'm sure outdoor would have been even better. RSRP and SINR can be seen in the ServiceMode screenshot.

I have yet to see B1 (2100) anywhere in ISB/RWP which still has 2CA.

So... I'm in Canada, and here's the fun part: I took a video of the network performance and all. Granted, I'm next to a window but it seems to consistently perform very, VERY well in places where the signal readings are horrible.

And yes, VoLTE and wifi calling work (had to ring up the helpline to get it to work, but it worked).

There's no way of knowing exactly what tech the networks here use (my phone isn't rooted) but it does show you that it's using 4xCA. The other time, I managed to hit 120 Mbps on similarly poor signal levels. And in case it wasn't apparent, I managed to hit ~70Mbps (upload was poor).

My package plan doesn't permit me to go beyond 250Mbps (just another stupid Canadian limitation - they're already very high, and if you pay more, you get almost uncapped speeds). Oh, and I'm on 4G.

Just goes to show what networks can achieve if they actually have a good focus on them (of course, it's probably 20x more expensive in Canada). Jazz is probably the only network with data that is largely usable as far as speeds are concerned in multiple places, but horrible for calls. Zong has picked up their performance as well and you can average around 20Mbps in multiple places via 2xCA. But the experience is consistent here.

I've read Rogers doesn't give you speeds anywhere near Bell nor Telus (and Bell and Telus both share antennas but have different backends, so the coverage between the two is nearly identical except in some cities or so). But they call them Robelus (cartel, and daylight robbery with prices).

Indeed Ufone has most stable coverage of 3g and also 4g.
Places where telenor and jazz give low signal and have with zero internet speed,
Ufone is working Perfectly at those spots/locations giving high speed at low signals.
I really dont know and understand why cant telenor, jazz have same reliability on low signals vs ufone.
Probably its either to save power or they just dont care about low signals services.
For them it seems like, you must have full signals to use our internet ..

Not to mention telenor with full signals give 0-1mbps most of the time
No wonder why telenor has cheapest packages with their "Create your own packages"
Also voice quality on telenor is really really bad.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.

After I watched it, I never felt like i watched a show. It was a friggin journey. I got way too attached to Thorfinn and seeing him grow up and find himself and get rid of all the negativity inside of him was just pure bliss.
