Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

Seagate Firecuda 530 read speed is up to 7.3GB/s.
PS5 SSD read speed is up to 5.5GB/s (Raw) and 8-9GB/s (compressed).
X|S SSD read speed is up to 2.4GB/s (Raw) and 4.8GB/s (compressed).

X|S expansion costing $219.99 for 1TB with 2.4GB/s speed vs Firecuda 530 1TB with 7.3GB/s (whilst PS5 using 5.5GB/s) for $254.99 or $274.99 for more than double the speed of whatever X|S is offering for $35 more for the standard version without heatsink?

Not to mention, you’ll only have to use a proprietary expansion card for X|S whereas NVMes down the line may get cheaper for the PS5.
Xbox's SSD is mix matched. Some use PCI-E Gen 3x4 interface and some Gen 4x2.
None of the SSD's use DRAM cache either neither the internal nor the expansion cartridge one. Which means it can't even sustain 2.4GB/s lmao.

PS5's internal SSD does have a 512MB SDRAM cache according to ifixit's teardown.

The M.2 SSD's on the other hand are much more capable than the competition yet are priced around the same.

Meh, I'll just get one for my PC once ssd prices drop a bit. The PS5's internal storage is enough to store the 3 PS5-only games and the multiplayer shooter + fighting game I play each year.

Heck, with Jim Ryan in charge, I don't see Sony making another major PS5-only game until 2023. I hope I'm wrong, but 🤷‍♂️

Must have some guesses as to which games are coming to PC first? 🤣
Uncharted collection, Uncharted 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, GoW collection, GoW 3 remaster, GoW, Spider-man, Ghost of Tsushima, TLOU Part 1 and II. Nixxes will port them one by one.

A Bloodborne port or remaster may happen too. Whether they'll move to porting PS5-only games later in the generaion is anyone's guess 🤷‍♂️

Could've just said "all of them" :ROFLMAO:

But yeah, them being the "initial phase" of porting games to PC probably means they are working out which game engines Nixxes will require dedicated assistance from the studios and what not.

Yeah, I'd rather play Forza Horizon 5. Sony Ryan's doing nothing to retain me as a consumer with a high software attach rate at this point 🤷‍♂️

"We believe in generations" - announces Horizon FW, GoW Ragnarok, and GT7 for PS4
"We believe in exclusives" - announces slate of first-party titles for PC
"We believe expansion drives will perform just as well as the internal drive" - announces that may not be the case for all games

🤣

Sony Boosts Profit Outlook on Better Movies, Music Prospects

Sony Chief Financial Officer Hiroki Totoki said that the company’s key product, the $499 PlayStation 5, was no longer selling at a loss. The $399 PS5 Digital Edition is on track to have its loss offset by other hardware sales including peripherals and the PlayStation 4, the CFO added.
Glad I could contribute to Sony's losses 😄
