Tempted to download the Dex Pass version and give it a try :p

Pretty scummy of Atlus to sell an early access version for $10 extra, but it is what it is.

I'll put it this way, if it hadn't leaked I would have no reservations buying this on day 1 at full price :p

As a P5 fan, I am pretty happy with the natural story progression from the end of the game so far. Nothing 'jumping the shark' kind of bad has happened yet.

Other then that, they have everything you'd want Persona to have. The Velvet room and Persona fusion is there, a simplified version of Confidants is also there.

Done with the first two cities. Thoughts:

- Seeing the phantom thieves back together alone is worth the price of admission.
- Atlus has fully embraced the Scooby Doo influence and turned Strikers into a road trip, which is cool, since the game doesn't just take place in a single city.
- At the same time, I'm not a fan of not being able to revisit cities you've already been to. Kind of makes sense, since it's a road trip, but eh.
- Dungeons (so far at least) aren't close to being as complex as the ones from P5, but they succeed in giving the same vibe. The side-scrolling sections are a welcome addition.
- Despite being based on the Musou formula, the combat can be a lot of fun. It's flavored with enough mechanics from P5 that it doesn't seem out of place. May not be a popular opinion, but I hope Atlus builds on this for the next Persona game and doesn't go back to turn-based battles.
- The amount of context-sensitive actions during combat are a little excessive sometimes, getting in the way of performing regular actions mapped to the same button, such as all-out attacks. It looks cool and all, but things get more chaotic as a result.
- The lack of Kasumi is disappointing; would've been nice to see her make a cameo appearance
- Sophie's a nice addition to the cast of main characters. She fits right in with the rest.
- Since this isn't a full blown Persona game, it lacks stuff like the individual one-to-one interactions with other main characters and their side stories.
- The whole student life simulator aspect is also missing, and there are fewer side activities overall. Requests are still there, but none of the ones I've done so far have stood out as interesting.

Overall, it's an 8.0-8.5 / 10 so far.

I have just played like the starting 4-5 hours of the original P5. Even though i really really enjoyed the game, there were far too many games in my backlog at that time and the 100 hour expected play through of the game felt daunting to say the least so i sort of unwillingly left the game and moved on to the other games.

I have played the first couple of hours of STRIKERS on the switch and I honestly have pretty much the same feelings. I am guessing its not as long as the original Persona 5 so that's welcoming but i do plan to finish this game all the way to the end. I will eventually get around playing the original P5 as well once i get my hands on the PS5.

Oh whoops, I haven't updated this thread in a while.

I finished the game some time back. The start is really strong and the story is interesting enough to keep you going till the end, but the Musou trappings kinda got real boring near the end.

However I would still call this a must play for Persona 5 fans cause this is a direct and meaningful continuation of the story.

The combat can be a lot of fun when things go in flow.

Yeah Persona games are huge time sinkers, mainly due to the amount of dialogue and interaction between the main characters as well as with NPCs. I recently played through the Tomb Raider games, and it feels like I've already put in about the same time in Persona 5 Strikers as I did in the entire trilogy, even though I'm probably only half way through. It can get a little exhausting at times. Dunno how @Chandoo finishes them so quickly lol.

Finished.

I really enjoyed it. My final score is a 9/10.

Strikers has the heart of a full fledged Persona game and is for the most part the ARPG sequel to P5 I had hoped for, with a more enjoyable combat system and the addition of great new characters in Sophia and Zenkichi. Only real disappointments are the lack of side activities and the dungeons not being as thorough and well-designed as in the original. Kasumi and Akechi's absence is understandable, since development on Strikers was almost finished by the time Royal was out.

Really hope Atlus continues the adventures of the Phantom Thieves on the side with more spin-offs while also going forward with numbered sequels, because, much like the P4 characters, this cast of characters is just too good to drop. Going by the Feb 21 NDP charts, this has been a pretty successful collaboration for both Atlus and Koei Tecmo. A P5 Arena game that also features characters from P3/P4 would also be great, but Ark Sys seems to be busy with other projects atm.

@Chandoo did you know that EMMA's English voiceovers were done by the same person who voiced Siri? lol

In a way, it does lend some authenticity to the game's underlying theme.

Really? that's pretty fascinating and makes sense why the character has the monotone GPS style AI voice down so perfectly lol

I dont think games have looked any better since 2019 onwards and they are performing worse and worse. Game developers have really dropped the ball.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.

After I watched it, I never felt like i watched a show. It was a friggin journey. I got way too attached to Thorfinn and seeing him grow up and find himself and get rid of all the negativity inside of him was just pure bliss.

With how great cod warzone has translated onto mobile. Mainstream Consoles have lost its value even further. Maybe console gaming was associated with TVs and how TV is not the primary source of media consumption anymore, consoles will lose its 200 million core audiences even further.
