The Witcher 3's review embargo was lifted on May 12 i.e. one week prior to it's release on May 19.

The first reviews for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are going to be published later today. Lifting the embargo a full week before release is highly unusual, and everyone is waiting to see how the game handles the heavy burden of expectation.

I feel like, people have put their expectations so high that they expected a really, REALLY perfectly cooked title with no issues whatsoever.
