When should oil for the following cars be changed?

I have a Honda City 2012 automatic and Civic 2016

When should I be changing their oil? I drive mainly in-city.

Right now I am changing the City's oil after every 2000km and Civic's after 5000.

I read that oil change that frequent is not needed, any advice on this?

depends on what kind of oil are you using. both for city and civic normally at around 5000kms. if you use good oils such as MOBIL1 or liquimoly etc imported ones than the mileage easily goes to 10k km

Synthetic oil should be changed every 5-6K kilometers for local cars. However in the US, some people recommend to change synthetic oil after 10-12K kilometers. But I know from experience with my Japanese imported car that the check engine light came on after 8K kilometers, and car's performance was greatly reduced. So do it around 6K km.

I've switched to AMSOIL for my city and boy is the difference night and day. Also changed the transmission oil to Liquimoly. The car feels significantly better. I've so far done 9k on AMSOIL, the lubeshop assures a 20k interval - no problem. I have to go in at 10k to get the oil filter changed and will check how the oil has faired, but so far I haven't felt anything wrong and no reduction in performance either.

Running a city 2015 prosmatec, 90k on the ODO

thats a first im hearing the car requires a 20k km run. most i've heard is 10-12k. plus ur cars done 90k which is quite so i'd advise to go that long anyways. keep a check on the oil yourself as well. if it feels too brown get it changed,
