I have been ordering things from aliexpress including during this pandemic. Your advance payment to Aliexpress for any product is saved only through two ways. 1. Either you get the product you paid for. 2. You do not get the product, open dispute and Aliexpress pays you back.
Regarding the first option, yes deliveries are getting pretty much late sometimes taking as long as 5 months during this pandemic and the probability the product of not getting delivered and getting lost in transit has also increased from 95% to about 65%. That is, there is a now a 35% chance your ordered item will get lost in transit while earlier there was a only a 5% chance that your product would get lost in transit.
Regarding, the second option, i.e. opening dispute for not getting the product, Aliexpress has also now changed and got more restrictive in refunding you. For example I opened dispute for the reason I had not got the product. Aliexpress even though the tracking clearly showed that the product had not even reached Pakistan, threw away my dispute and refused to refund me by giving me a simple reason: That Aliexpress had checked the tracking and they have found that the product is lying with the post office in my location and that it is my responsibility to collect it. I checked both the GPO and my local post office and they said the product had not even reached Pakistan. So Aliexpress is rejecting even valid disputes and refusing to refund money. (On a side note, I received the product later on after 5 months).

I ordered two things from Aliexpress in June. The first item arrive in 40 days. But it has been around 70 days for the second item and its still in shipping process. So purchase at your own risk in this period.

I have been ordering before and during pandemic, most of the stuff on AliExpress ships from China with some stuff coming from their warehouses in Singapore & Malaysia, regardless everything comes by air and the more the flights the quicker it will reach Pakistan. Since the reduction in flights during pandemic, deliveries are slow.

My experience is: The biggest problem in all of this is the Last Mile Courier being Pakistan Post and that too is Pakistan Post's IMO (International Mail Office) in Karachi. I have had multiple Registered Air Mails showing tracking till IMO then getting stuck in IMO (usually it used to take 1 day in IMO before pandemic). I called Pakistan Post's Helpline 051-111-111-117 or 051-8487080 or 051-8840360 and registered my complaint, nothing happened for 6 days, then I launched complaint on Pakistan Citizen Portal app and the tracking moved in days and I got the mail in 2 days in Islamabad, hand delivered by my local Post Master with apologies and they wanted me to give positive feedback on my complaint on Citizen Portal app LOL. But sadly those things that are ordered via Standard AliExpress Shipping does not show detailed tracking and will have a high probability of non-delivery. A friend in Karachi who works in customs told me that they received specific instructions from Sindh Govt to "hold anything addressed to Punjab or Capital" during start of pandemic, and they have been selling those stuff on OLX, I highly doubt that to be true.

Regarding refunds, AliExpress awards levels to its customers, awarding levels is based on points. the more you spend, higher your level will be. Old levels were A0 to A4, A4 being higher, now it's Silver, Gold, Platinum & Diamond. Source & Details here. AliExpress deals with dispute/refund differently with different levels, with higher levels given quicker & favourable dispute decisions with more refunds. I am at Platinum and never had a problem with disputes or refunds. Best practice for a refund due to non-delivery is, open dispute after expiration of delivery date but before Purchase Protection runs out, also, always request Seller to extend Purchase Protection before opening dispute, if he does not extend then it will be quick refund coz AliExpress checks your communication with seller during arbitration.

1) Orders are being delayed (Sometimes not delivered)
2) Custom Duty on top of Order
3) I had received many small parcels & 1 big 100kg shipment of 6 cartons. No need to get frightened (Covid19) everything seems ok.

6 days remaining until 90 day period is over and item is still in shipping. I am guessing that the chances of me getting a refund are very close to 100%.

I placed an ordered for a few cables worth of $15 from UGreen Store in AliExpress on July 1st. Those cables arrived in like 50 days but I had to pay duty of like PKR 1200 for them.

I also ordered another item worth $65 from a different store on July 1st and this was delivered to me on 21st September. Didn't have to pay duty on this item.

I think its better to wait because these shipments are taking a lot of time.

One of my three items ordered in early October just arrived.
From the other two, one item was returned by customs (it was a heatsink, wtf?). And one item is nowhere to be tracked lol.

Ordered two more items around 10 December. One item is already with my local post office, the other is still at "departed from origin country" phase.

It is so inconsistent lol.

BTW, this website provides so much more in-depth information about some orders: Aliexpress and the official shipping site provides generic updates like "Clearing Customs".
But 17track says "Item cleared customs and passed on to Nazimabad GPO", which means the item is in my local post office now.

The item that was in my local post office just arrived :) Fastest shipping from Aliexpress ever on this particular item. Literally took around 20 days.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but is it safe to order from AliExpress now if you're in Pakistan, given the Covid situation in the world and all?

I want to order an expensive audio player ($330) and was wondering if it's possible. Would it make it through customs and reach my address easily or would it be a hassle and get stuck somewhere?

If anyone else has ordered stuff and knows about these things then let me know please!

Inbound & Outbound Flights were restricted to 20% capacity since flights opened but since 15th June most of the Airlines have been suspended till 30th June by Pak Govt, means no flights coming in from China. I would suggest ordering after 30th June.

Regarding ordering on AliExpress, be mindful of what you order, do the research, read the fine print. You will get what you ordered, so order the right product.

Custom fee will be charged by customs and will be collected by the Pakistan Post. The delivery postman will bring you a customs fee receipt and collect the fee upon delivery.

But if the seller marks the product as being a gift or as having a really low price, then the customs fee is not applicable right?

Also, there's a sale going on right now on AliExpress, that's why I wanted to buy it now. If I buy it now and the shipment is dated to arrive in July, won't I be safe then?

If you are going to order, make sure to order using "Aliexpress standard shipping" option. Otherwise the order might not arrive. Two of my order which used other shipping methods have not arrived, whereas all of the orders using Aliexpress standard shipping have arrived within time.

Contact the seller after ordering, and ask them to declare cost of item as 2 dollars. That'll help you out ;)

Please pay the customs duty for your country, it won't be much but everything counts and everything helps, then there is the Islamic aspect of "little bit Haram turns all of your Halal into Haram". Have Faith that Allah is the Provider and all the Rizq comes from Him, then we won't have to "save" money in these ways. BTW this does not apply to you, as thinking about something does not count as sin and I am sure you will do the right thing.

As for ordering right now, yes it is perfectly safe, just keep track of your orders, especially the "Protection" timeline. If your protection is about to expire in few days but your order has not reached, then ask seller to extend protection. Max protection is 120 days, file for Refund after max protection runs out and you have not received the product.

Okay, I don't want to pay the customs fee but how much will it be anyway on a $300 audio player?

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
