Metascores for Bethesda's output this generation:

Wolfenstein: New Order: 79
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood: 76
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus: 87
Wolfenstein: Young Blood: 69
The Evil Within: 75
The Evil Within 2: 76
Fallout: Shelter: 71
Fallout 4: 87
Fallout 76: 52
Doom: 85
Doom Eternal: 88
Dishonored 2: 88
Prey: 79
Rage 2: 73

On second thoughts, it isn't thaaat big a deal for MS to have bought Bethesda. With the exception of Fallout 4, Wolfenstein II, the Doom series, and Dishonored 2, everything else has been mediocre. Fallout 4 was the only noteworthy GoTY award winner.

What if, they make all these future games exclusive to gamepass! No Playstation *ofcourse* but also, No Steam, No EGS, No nothing else...

Sony doesn't NEED to buy anything tbh. Their playing ground is exclusives and that's all set for long term (just need to come up with better subscriptions I think). PS5 will sell more all the same and I think the impact of MS's acuisition won't be too big at launch. But Xbox will pick up in pace later when their new games are out.

This acquisition makes the gamepass essential alongside the PS exclusives!

No longer can you play PS exclusives & TES & certain other good games on the same system, you need either the xbox or pc to go with a PS system now.

I think Sony pursuing console exclusivity and marketing rights says otherwise.

Not to mention, securing Ghostwire and Deathloop console exclusivity shows how much they valued these studios/IPs.

That's basically the same focus on exclusives applied to some third party titles. Ultimately they are trying to have more exclusives, timed or otherwise. Also, this is something they can do as opposed to acquiring big studios which is probably beyond their budget. Their own exclusives aren't all ready at the same time so they need to fill the gap and/or add more options. The case of Ghostwire and Deathloop could be for a boost around the time of lauch but in any case, it adds to the exclusives line up.

My point was they need these exclusive deals as a "competitive advantage" regardless of their first party situation. These deals are cheaper than acquiring studios, but the purpose is all the same.

Hot Damn MS is on a roll. And the timing of this acquisition could not have been better - absolutely perfect. Honestly, this just feels great moving into the next gen. Ms is making all the right moves and this just feels like the 360 vs PS3 era where both consoles had more or less similar high quality stuff to offer.

Yar honestly, I know scores are very subjective but alot of these scores dont really do justice. Evil Within(especially the second one), Rage 2 and the highly underated Prey (2018) were fantastic games imo. Apart from Young Blood and fallout 76 the list is pretty solid.
