Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?


What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

The State of Play was an indicator of how bleak the future is for the "gimme ma' Spiderman Miles Morales without 'reshade presets'" segment of PS4 owners who won't be upgrading to PS5 at launch :ROFLMAO:

lol Spiderman destroys The Witcher 3 wrt to sales on the PS4. Had Cyberpunk 2077 been a next-gen only title, Miles Morales would've done the same.

lmao @ destroyed. Show us what difference is being called "destroyed" here? If anything, Spider-Man's sales wrt the PS4 install base isn't all that flattering.

Considering the decades worth of brand identity associated with Spider-Man, Witcher 3 sales at ~30million thoroughly destroy the shit out of Spider-Man.

Spiderman only falls short of 3 Call of Duty games, GTAV, and RDR2. No Witcher 3 detected. And while that doesn't represent global sales, it's safe to say the game sold about the same in other markets. On PS4, the Witcher 3's sales figures are destroyed by that of Spiderman.

On 4 platforms. And number of copies sold is a useless way to gauge success. For all we know, most of those sales happened when the game was sold for peanuts. Where does it stand in terms of Dollar sales?

How can one extrapolate by that chart what "getting destroyed" meant? A difference of 5mil? 10 million? 15million? 20million copies? Which is it?

No need for that. These are dollar sales, not number of copies sold. All you need to know is that Spiderman made more money on the PS4 than TW3 despite being released over 3 years later. That's 'destroying' in my book. Heck, even BF1 destroys it, despite releasing over a year later lol. And to think you believe Cyberpunk 2077 stood a chance against Miles Morales wrt PS5 sales. Hilarious :ROFLMAO:

Sony should announce the price for PS5. Whatever price they and MS have in mind, I think the difference can't be more than $50-100. That's fine because PS5 is going to be the only console with hardcore exclusives, so there's no competition and no need to wait for MS to reveal XBSX price. The price is now only relevant to make more people buy the PS5, and not so much for making it a preferable platform compared to XBSX because MS isn't up for the competition. So, I'd say they can go for $450 if we take $400 as the expected base price. The digital edition can certainly go for that price, if not for less.
