Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?


What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

The digital edition looks more symmetrical, and it'll likely be cheaper, so that's the one I'll probably get. Can't remember the last game I got on disc lol.

In term of console design, Sony Nailed it completely. PS5 design is way sleek and futuristic comparing it to a tall flat muted dustbin. Sony might as well wreck MS this generation as well if they put up some good quality exclusives. Judging by the games they showcased, I can only imagine what Killzone, The next uncharted, God of War etc is going to be.

Sony completely outdid MS in terms of games reveal, which was totally expected though. It so lived up to the expectation and confirmed almost every rumored game (except Silent Hill and God of War sequel; the latter is inevitable though). Can't be more excited about Demon's Souls and Horizon Forbidden West (weird name but okay).

As for the console design, I personally like it and had said before that it would be black and white to match the controller. It looks exotic. Don't see how being taller is an issue. It covers in length what XBSX does in width. That makes it look more like a console than a box (not that anything is wrong with the latter).

How can I say this without hurting the feelings of fanboys, I don't like the design (n). It's over stylized and vertical position is not suitable for my setup. This seems like form over function in my opinion.

Very interesting that Sony held back atleast one more AAA title in development. And that was advanced in production and heading for late 2020/Launch/early 2021 time period release....hmmmmmm

well looks to me that its actually for improved airflow when horizontal. with a small base touching the surface. Also really happy they went with something bolder than a box. Having said that, I also like the xbox fridge design. None of them look bad.

well the design is fine looks stylish and all. xbsx was a box just a box but honestly i wouldn't be looking at my console while playing a game, they could shape it as a poop box and i wouldn't give two shits honestly performance and game matters thats all.

man this event was quite good though at one point i was like 1 hours up these bastards aren't going to show the console are they and they finally did but i knew they weren't going to reveal the price as both companies want to undercut the other lol logical thinking suggests 499 and 599 price factor but could be higher due to manufacture cost 599 and 699. if the leaked price of 599poiund is true than 599 and 699 would be correct for usa for digital one being cheaper by 100$

so xbox did the digital only edition first and now sony following suit. thats one thing xbox did first now and BC.

ps: all those saying they don't like desgin and won't fit their cabinet or space i see they belong to a certain etilisit group hmmm :D coincidence hmmm
