Guys I have decided to terminate my TES services due to these nat type 2 and stupid billing problems. I only used the service for like 8 or 9 days and they charged me for the whole month. Height of stupidity. Anyways, I got a call from ptcl today regarding GPON. I have decided to opt for 25 mbps package. They will come tomorrow for installation.
Lol they've taken a page out of Nayatels book. They also charge extra for static IP and even 150 extra for dynamic IP without CGNAT.

For me I was fortunate, since TES has advanced billing, I paid for the whole of February in advance. Used their connection for the entire month, applied for PTCL at the end and terminated TES at the end as well.

PTCL is quite decent nowadays, pings are good and stability on GPON is great in areas where it's recently deployed.

Got VDSL back today on my shitty line (as a backup connection), will barely touch 16mbps IMO :tv: I had forgotten how bad the pings were on VDSL, sheesh!

Latency (a bit unfair comparing GPON with VDSL but deduct ~20-25ms from the VDSL ping and you'll get close to PTCL GPON results)

Line stats are kinda... meh. Attenuation is high. How far are you from the DP / cabinet?
Also, what package are you subscribed to?

Aaaand get FAST path enabled on it I guess. It'll drop down your pings by 10 ms at least.

Around 1-2km I think. 4mbps

Not too bothered about the ping since its just a backup connection. PTCL civil works for GPON is on-going, might have GPON available by Q3/start of Q4.

Since PTCL doesn't use CGNAT, all IPs assigned to users are public. So NAT type will be 2 by default.

Pings have been fine recently, 95-100 on Singapore and as low as 125 on EU.

Are you on TES whats app group. I took advice from there and just sent screenshot of xbox multiplayer page on windows 10 showing connectivity issues. Act dumb and say its giving this NAT type issue kindly fix it. They will then automatically give you dynamic IP fo NAT 2.
whats the link to TES whats app group

Nope. I just have UPnP enabled on the router, and torrent clients work just fine.

I've never had to mess with any port forwarding or opening options. Everything just works as is.

Random question, but is it okay to leave UPnP on, on my router (TP Link WR940N)? I have heard and seen online that it is a security breach and that I should not turn it on in any case whatsoever. So I just want to know if it still is a threat today?

I've read about it on a lot of forums, mixed opinions. Some are very concerned and they always keep it off, and some keep it on and don't have problems.

I've had it on for years and never had any issues.
