Sorry if it's been answered before. Would I face any issue if someone brings a seal packed cell phone from China to Pakistan in their luggage? (Customs/PTA NOC) Jshak GloriousChicken

Any idea how much custom will be imposed if I buy a watch online. The manufacturer uses UPS as their designated courier service. Watch is valued around 250 USD. Jshak

assasin42o - Personal carry, nothing. But you will not be able to use the phone on our network unless you get it registered by PTA. I believe thats how it is. sTraNg3r - Around $50-80.

assasin42o - PTA last year introduced a new set of rules to stop smuggling and stolen phones from being sold on the open market, I dont know if this applies to personal carried phones into the country. All imported phones are officially registered thanks to customs, maybe thats why those american phones sold on open markets are working.

Boss customs are these days are equipped with internet search and they will find the actual price. I, just 2 days back for a 800$ item paid 63446 rupees. Even, I am a Govt Officer, still no one cares. They imposed the GD of 54942 and rest were other charges.
Even, I could have escaped the bill, the actual amount was being shared on the internet where the trouble starts.

You'll end up paying more than $750 for its price, excluding shipping and handling.
That is huge. Someone also told me customs would be 70% of the invoice. That brings the amount closer to $940.

Is custom applicable when a friend from abroad sends me an item, let's say this tablet, via DHL? There would be no invoice, no commercial transaction involved, just one friend sending an item to another friend in Pakistan.

Personal carry, no issue.
When you get it shipped, thats where you'll pay custom.

No matter how you ship, you'll be subjected to it.
The only way to avoid it is to bring it yourself or through someones hand/baggage carry.
