Speaking of.

Frozen Wilds will have an approx 15 hour campaign, new skills and a whole new skill tree with other quality of life improvements like refined motion capture and better usage of the dynamic camera angles.

http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2017/10...orizon-zero-dawns-the-frozen-wilds-expansion/

Alongside the three existing skill trees is the new Traveller category that look set to streamline certain parts of the game. You can unlock the Mounted Pickup skill, which is pretty self explanatory, the ability to scrap items yourself and turn them into Shards, instead of having to visit a vendor each time, increase the chances of finding rare gear, and so on. It can culminate in the ability to perform a Dismount Strike, with Aloy leaping from the back of her mount to deal a lot of damage to an enemy.
Talking to him is a fine opportunity to see that Guerrilla have tried to make their conversations look more dynamic and engaging. As one of my main complaints of the main game, it’s great to see them address this going forward, perhaps aided by the narrower scope of this expansion – that said, it’s still aiming to be at least 15 hours, with tons of new side quests alongside the main narrative threads. It’s a shame, but entirely understandable that this added polish and refinement is only applicable for the new expansion.

One thing to try and get people to engage more with the side quests are improved rewards, so that you can earn new weapons, gear upgrades and new outfits from completing quests as opposed to simply buying them. Additionally, where certain activities return from the original game, they’ve been given a new twist wherever possible. Encountering a Tallneck in this region doesn’t see Aloy simply trying to climb up to its top, but tasks her with trying to salvage the derelict of a fallen machine that’s being torn apart by machines reclaiming its carcass. You’ll have to defeat or avoid those robots to reach the Tallneck’s head, but once you get there, you’ll need to have found parts to get it working again before you can trigger its region revealing pulse.

The Frozen Wilds makes some more subtle changes, too. The developers stress that conversations now feature better mo-cap and more dynamic camera work - although this only applies to the expansion’s chats, sadly. The snow in the new area looks better too, emulating something of the bewitching sparkle of Journey’s sand.

There still isn’t any form of physics, just so you know. Its a shader based trick based on some movement interaction presets. Clearly still generations behind other open world games. But you wer defending the complete absence of it, so can’t expect to have a sound discussion with you :p

The game is available for as low as Rs. 3,000 now. But unfortunately gotta clear up the back log first, and with the DLC announced, getting the complete edition would be better.

They improved an aspect that didn't need any kind of improvement in the first place, not sure why that is being used as a negative here :p I don't think not having water physics takes anything away from the game's otherwise unmatched tech. The water component wasn't a big part of the game in the first place.

Why are you embarrassing yourself like that? :p Water is essential when you're rendering organic environments, along with the foliage. Lemme guess, even that isn't important right? Jeez...nothing wrong with accepting the game's shortcomings man. It doesn't look laughably bad now compared to the launch game, but if it was upto modern standards, it would've been exclusive to your precious Pro :p

Apart from the combat, story quests and the map design... this game lacks behind ALOT compared to other open world games.

but im glad I can finally go back to it and get ready for this content.

Not really, youre the only fanboy who is defending it like crazy. NXGamer and pointed it out as well, and DF filed it in under “What doesn’t work”... youre the only one who thinks it was never important.

What doesn't
Water rendering: Water often plays a large role in natural environments and Horizon is no exception. Unfortunately, the way in which water is portrayed here is at odds with the rest of the presentation. Screen-space reflections are kept to a minimum, only reflecting a small part of the surrounding environment with the game relying more heavily on baked textures instead. When encountering calm pools of water, the result sticks out against the otherwise superbly detailed environment. In addition, water does not react in any meaningful way to characters while moving through them.
yeah, water effects cant be laughably bad when they arent there in the first place...youre right. But now they are laughably bad straight from the PS2 era. Servicable at best if ones being generous.

Agar nahi hazam hota criticism to no ones forcing you to comment on it bhai.. move along :p

Necrokiller Yar its a really good game. And since you are into Open World RPGs I'm sure you'll like it. Its definitely not as content rich or RPG heavy as Witcher 3 but the combat, the main story , the post apocalyptic settings will really hook to up to it. Dont let water effects and foliage put you off from an otherwise great game.

Amen brother :p

ps I myself am probably not gonna get this DLC day 1. I'm guessing there will be some drop, minor as it may be, for black friday. That or I will wait for the too good to be true Gamestop $60 pass for 6 month and just get this with the Complete edition launching in early December.

i never played this game but its not surprising that another PS4 exclusive open world game looks great in photomode becoz its hiding some glaring limitations. look at Infamous SS, another hyped beyond shit technical marvel that has the same issues. just goes to show no technical wizardry is happening under the hood...like EVER!

Every open world game has its fair share of limitations. Do you have an example of one that doesn't?

Despite its shortcomings wrt to Aloy's lack of interaction with water and most of the foliage, Horizon is still technically one of the most impressive open world game out there. It does almost everything else (e.g. shaders, post-process, weather simulation, seamless world traversal) better than other modern open world games.

FFXV has better lighting, animations, interaction with water/foliage, but it's also very inconsistent wrt to asset quality and detail. I'd rank it as the 2nd most impressive looking open world game.

limitations like the one employed by sony's first party openworld exclusives are highly distracting in motion and impact the so called "superb visuals" a lot. compared to other open world games, i seriously question the design choices (and sanity) of the dev. if i ever meet one i would say "yaar agar game photomode ke liye pretty banani thi to player ko aloo kyu bana rahay ho?" this is the level of my frustration with Infamous SS!
now i am sure many will fight me on importance of player interactions in SS but in Horizon, foliage plays a integral part of the gameplay! what the hell was happening inside GG when they decided to let that go!

Journey putting all the focus on the one element HZD doesn't do :p

Sure, every single piece of foliage in the game cannot be interacted with, but where it's required .. for stealth for example .. those are all interactive foliage areas. The water simulation also looks perfectly fine for a game which doesn't have any water components. AC Origins for example has you go underwater a lot for treasure/exploration, this game doesn't.

What HZD does do that a lot of other games don't is provide an extremely smooth experience, there is little to none of the "open world jank" that is associated with these kind of games, no performance issues, no streaming issues, no hitching and practically non existent cases of reported bugs where AI or the world is doing weird shit that you see games like Fallout etc known for.

The fact that it still is the best looking games of it's kind .. hell maybe in general .. even now is just the cherry on the otherwise awesome cake.
