Yeah, 480 rumors and hype turned out to be a nightmare for maxwell gpu especially for 970. and since 1060 also launched, 970/980 ripped out partially. 980 which was costing around 60K now not even selling out for 40K, what a solid punch from newer series.
And I was feeling bad, still do a bit that I sold my Strix 970 for 30k (this was a few days before 1080 launch day)

Man, this itch for more imaginary internet points! I've considered scrapping the whole system for a new 6700k and even ordered ddr4 from amazon on impulse. Holding off till KabyLake comes.

One can see the performance impact skylake created. it is almost nothing compare to haswell/canyon. i too thought to upgrade but then there are few complications like chip sensitivity itself. but its ddr4 thats whats new. anyways there will be two good things will happen next when kabylakes come

  1. kabylake itself better performer
  2. skylake prices will drop

so eyes on Kabylake now :D

For sure. Can't wait for a newer CPU.

Lately, the year on year CPU have improvements have indeed been so minimal, its really not worth upgrading unless they do something great in Kabylake. At least a 10-15% improvement will justify upgrading (that's the maximum one can hope for since gone are the days where we saw massive improvements like what we saw in i5-2500k days.. that chip... a monster and still worthy.

yup, haven't seen such great intuitive chip tech after that generation. sandy was best so far intel ever produced. Beast overclocking architecture. those old days are gone, i hope to see them again with some double potential like 5.7 etc easily, if intel thinks out of this tick tock cycle.

There is not much left actually even speaking from silicon perspective. This makes Intel to shift their focus from Tick-Tock towards more efficiency yet delivering a bit more performance. Let's hope Kaby Lake brings improvements though there ain't much as compared to the Skylake but those 24 PCIe lanes is definitely eye catching (still no where to give true 16+16) and less TDP. For haswell and previous generations holders, it may make sense but for Skylakers it won't.

Good score @JANASHEEN

Haven't yet anyone posted 1070 score. so with the runs posted here if we compare the real time results and considering graphics performance, GTX 1080 is about 18-19% better than 980Ti, overclocked Clocks both ends.

yeah come on guys, post your latest scores. Its hard to believe with so many hardcore gamers around, there's no activity here.

I'd think most of the guys just aren't aware of this thread.
