Asalam O Alikum everyone. I had a query and thought this thread might help. Firstly i wanted to know when does the registration start for Olevels May/June session 2015 because it only states on the british council webpage "registration starts mid december, please visit us later" and my other query was is it possible for a candidate to sit in a Olevels subject and One Alevels Subject in the same session ?? Any help is most welcome and may Allah bless you.

Registrations have started. If you wish to appear privately, you should visit your nearest branch of Standard Chartered Bank to register. And yes, you can appear for both O level and A level in the same session but make sure that there aren't any time clashes.

Are 0.7 Blue & Black 'Gel Pens' (Dollar Gel-1) allowed in O & A Levels papers? Or only Picasso's Grip & Oria type of pens is allowed...

It doesn't matter what pen you just, rather, what you right with the pen. Good luck, and don't think too much into theese kind of things. All pens are allowed. Trust me. I've been there and I've done that a lot of times. :)

The only restriction for a pen is blue and black colour. I prefer Pilot pointers because they help me write faster than the normal gel pens.

and give the CIE in November wala session. Probably going to give other subjects (english lit, sociology or stats) too.

any answers? tips? :S

Can anyone guide me to ace Urdu A (3247) successfully?
I am so stressed out because of this subject. Please?
late reply, but whatever.
I'm not giving Urdu A in my upcoming CIE's, but I ended up studying it for two years.
For every Afsana, DO ALL PAST PAPER QUESTIONS. Answer beshak rattlo. But make sure you UNDERSTAND what the ghist of each afsana is,
Like Joota talking about class differences, Insaan kisi haal mein khush nahi hota talking about how no one can perceive their own nature properly, and how we aren't ever pleased with our status and fret over that of others. Stuff like that. Once you "Get' each afsana, answering questions is a piece of pecan pie.

Tbh, the only thing you need for this paper after understanding the afsanay is a good enough vocabulary to understand and attempt the questions. And I think you have a choice between Ghazals and Nazms.

what would be the minimum average grades needed to get scholarships to colleges and universities in Britain and the US what GPA would i need as well? I'm talking about the CIE O levels in pakistan where the maximum GPA is 4. Islamiyat and pak studies exams are in May and the other 6 in 11th class in 2018

Try getting all A*'s and a few extra subjects (like Add-Maths, World History etc) to set yourself apart from other applicants. If you don't think you can handle the extra workload, just focus on not getting anything less then an A. And getting a scholarship is not solely dependent on your O-Level grades. Your A-Level grades matter more and your SAT scores along with your extracurricular activities all play a significant role in your application. So, like I said, you should just try to set yourself apart. There will be loads of people with 8A's, but relatively few with say, 11A*'s. And don't just focus on academics. Extracurricular's play a huge role! Stuff like debating or some sport are a huge plus. But you have to be good at it too. Just listing participation's wont cut it. Awards at debating competitions and MUN's or some tournament win in a sport is what you want to aim for.

That's great information, thanks! Hadn't considered the extracurriculars at all

Scholarships are hard to come by in Britain except for at some universities such as LSE. The US is rather generous with financial aid, however, it is important to note that most colleges in the USA are really expensive (30-40k per annum minimum) and many colleges in the US also take into account SAT scores very heavily. If you're an accomplished athlete or debater that really helps too. Accomplished, by the way, refers to competing at national level events not class or school level.

Aim for all A's. At least 5-6 A's minimum should be your goal.

Thanks for the information! My brother's the first in the family that's going the O/A-levels route, and I don't really know much about them either. This is a good starting point. Going to tell him to try to put some extra effort into extracurriculars as well. He's currently on vacation and I'm telling him to do his subjects that he's going to be appearing for in May 2017. Don't really know what else to do to give him an edge.

Also, if say he opts for a total of 9 subjects, if he gets a B in one, and A's in the rest, is that better or worse than opting for only 8 subjects and getting A's in all of them?
