[h=3]Hey, it's Norman Reedus![/h]

Hideo Kojima took to the stage during Sony's E3 event tonight to reveal footage from his first game since leaving Konami. The PlayStation 4 title, Death Stranding, is still in development, and the clip gives just a taste of what to expect from Kojima Productions' debut.
"Hello, everyone! I'm back!" Kojima said before introducing the clip. The footage runs in real time; opening with a quote from poet William Blake, it features a naked man — played by The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus — with a baby attached to him by a mechanical umbilical cord. It seems to be set in a post-apocalyptic, sandy setting, although details remain vague for now.

Although Death Stranding now has a name, it remains without a release date. Earlier today, Kojima told Geoff Keighley during the YouTube E3 Gaming live show that the studio was "going at a good pace" with the game, and mentioned that he was collaborating with designer Mark Cerny on his upcoming project. Cerny is credited in the Death Stranding trailer at the top of the page.

I think comparing a Gameplay trailer against a game for which even the engine hasnt been decided is more than premature. We dont even know the genre or what we should be comparing this trailer on tbh..

Good point but it's not just another game developer we're talking abt. What ever the game turns out to be, it's going to be great! And since it's nothing related to metal gear, I'm specially hyped for it

[h=2]Kojima's Death Stranding is an open-world action game that will connect players[/h][h=3]Hideo Kojima expands on Kojima Productions' next video game[/h]

Kojima Productions head Hideo Kojima appeared at Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference to talk to a Japanese audience about his next game, Death Stranding, saying the open-world action game aims to connect players.
Kojima described most online competitive and cooperative action games as featuring "sticks" for players to use in combat. Death Stranding, he said, will also feature sticks, but also ropes for tethering and connecting players. "At the end of the day I want to offer an action game where people get connected with different elements, not just clubs," Kojima said through a translator.

Granted, Kojima has said many of these same things before in describing Death Stranding, which was unveiled just a few months ago at this year's E3. Today, however, he showed cartoonish concept art featuring cute illustrations of collaborators Guillermo del Toro and Norman Reedus connected by tethers.

Kojima did reveal one new detail: Kojima Productions plans to support 4K resolution and HDR color with Death Stranding, new features of the PlayStation 4 and its Pro counterpart revealed last week.

Kojima premieres new Death Stranding trailer at Game Awards

Hideo Kojima brought a new trailer for Death Stranding to The Game Awards 2016, presenting our first look at the game since its E3 2016 premiere.

Film director Guillermo Del Toro, who worked with Kojima on the canceled game Silent Hills, stars in this latest look. In a decrepit, dystopian city, Del Toro is seen clutching a strange device. Inside is a baby, reminiscent of the infant seen in the initial Death Stranding teaser.

Also in the trailer is Mads Mikkelsen, star of Hannibal and one of Kojima’s favorite actors. The star of film and TV has long been rumored to be a part of Death Stranding. Mikkelsen is joined by The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus in the cast, although the trailer’s credits neglected to mention Del Toro’s inclusion.

The footage shown comes from a PlayStation 4 Pro, said host Geoff Keighley after the trailer. Kojima will be on-hand at this weekend’s PlayStation Experience show to talk more about Death Stranding.

[h=1]Is Decima the name of Death Stranding’s engine?[/h]
[h=2]Looks like Kojima’s settled on one[/h]

Death Stranding’s engine could be called Decima, based on a logo spotted at the end of its newest trailer. Although the logo’s significance has caused a debate among fans of director Hideo Kojima, the man himself tweeted a video that suggests that Decima is nothing more than the engine Death Stranding is running on.

YongYea, a YouTuber who covers all kinds of games on his channel, uploaded the video above, recapping theories about the trailer. Alongside analyses of the posters Kojima Productions shared subsequent to Death Stranding’s trailer premiere at the Game Awards, he explained the meaning behind Decima.
The name Decima comes from Greco-Roman mythology; she’s one of the three Fates. Decima in particular measures a person’s “thread of life,” which YongYea notes is an appropriate choice for Death Stranding.
“Some of Death Stranding’s biggest themes include things like the rope and the stick and threads that connect all living things,” he says. “If you think about it, there’s nothing that connects us mortals more than the singular fact that we all die at the end.”

Kojima has cited the philosophical concepts of the stick and the rope among Death Stranding’s key themes. He tweeted a discussion of these and other themes earlier this year, explaining that “the stick helped ape evolve into man,” while “the rope helps us capture and bind important things to us.”
And thus, the thread of life-measuring Decima is a perfect fit. Both YongYea and journalist Michael Fortsch, whose Tweet is referenced in the video, cite sources that the engine is customized for Death Stranding.
“Just got told that Decima is the name for the modified Sucker Punch Infamous: Second Son Engine Death Stranding is using,” Fortsch wrote Thursday night, following the teaser reveal.

That hasn’t been confirmed, and Fortsch himself insisted that it was just a rumor. We’ve reached out to Kojima Productions about the engine and will update when we hear back.
Either way, YongYea notes that the engine appears to be the same as the one powering the game in its debut E3 2016 trailer. After Death Stranding’s premiere at Sony’s press conference this past June, Kojima said that he had yet to settle on an engine. It looks like Decima is it for the undated PlayStation 4 game.
On the bustling Death Stranding subreddit, theorists insist that “Decima isn’t just the engine.”
“Thinking about Decima, my mind continues to harken back to the Moby Dick bait-and-switch back with [Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain] but I can't think of a reason why Kojima would do that again ON HIS OWN GAME,” wrote calrissian69.
This seems unlikely, but with Kojima, anything is possible. The director has given few concrete details about Death Stranding, including the name of its engine at this state in production. A panel hosted by the industry veteran and unannounced “special guests” at this weekend’s PlayStation Experience may be more illuminating.

[h=1]Death Stranding remains a mystery, but that won’t stop fans from theorizing[/h]

[h=2]Here’s some new ideas on what’s up based on the latest trailer[/h]

Let’s get this out of the way: Death Stranding’s new trailer at The Game Awards, although beautiful, dramatic and instantly unforgettable, didn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Haven’t seen it yet? Take a minute or two to watch below. You’ll see what we mean.

Not everyone feels the same way about this gorgeous and inscrutable video. The vigilant members of the Death Stranding subreddit took no time at all to get cracking, posting thread upon thread of new theories, clues and symbols they’ve decoded from the video.

Are the characters — played by Norman Reedus, as well as newly revealed additions Mads Mikkelsen and Guillermo Del Toro — in limbo? That’s what Carpe_DMT posits in a top Reddit thread.

“I believe that our actor friends — Mads, Reedus, and Del Toro — are all people from our world who found their way into purgatory / limbo, one way or another,” the user wrote. “The technology — Reedus' and Toro's handcuffs, the baby-chamber, this all serves to allow living creatures to transcend the planes of existence and enter the afterlife.

“Perhaps Reedus and Mads are clones,” the theory continues. “Bred for battle and made by man, they have no true souls and are thus welcome in Limbo. Perhaps Toro, with his head scars, is some sort of brain trauma / coma victim, thus also perfect for the job. All three enter limbo via the power of undeath — an unborn fetus, suspended chemically between life and death, the state of each can be altered at will.”

There’s much more to it than that, as Carpe_DMT goes through this hypothetical storyline beat-by-beat. There’s talk of whales, soldiers and angels, all drawn from the trace amounts of Death Stranding footage we’ve seen thus far. The theory is complex and a little hard to follow, but that’s exactly how Hideo Kojima — and his legions of fans — like it, and they’ve given this Redditor a vote of approval.

“I think that's crazy stupid good,” said box77. “If this isn't the actual story, I think you at least may have hit some of the same notes.”

“This is almost exactly what I was thinking, and I'm willing to bet you're spot on,” added Maritius. “No other theory so far holds up to Kojima's level of crazy genius.”

Troyal1 made a short list highlighting other things seen in the trailer. Among these are that the airplanes have umbilical cords, reminiscent of the ones seen in the debut trailer, as well as the reappearance of handprints from the first Death Stranding teaser. But the list really served as a jumping off point for the rest of the subreddit’s subscribers, who launched into other details they picked up on.

“The baby at the end also happens to open the same eye the baby does in the fetus-tank,” wrote CranoodleCradude. “And this means something to Mads' character, because he seems to recognize this, also, the baby was being moved by those black umbilical cords.”

“Good catch man,” Zskillit responded. “The cords ‘saw’ the man with the baby in the tank while he was hiding from the soldiers (and he looked like ‘uh oh’ when he saw the cords touch the babydoll, like he knew he was caught) ... then the cords took that baby doll to the bad soldier and did the same eye motion, which he obviously recognized.”

The baby and Mads Mikkelsen remain the hottest topics of debate, inciting the most questions from fans. Mikkelsen’s character is seen using supernatural powers, which some theorize are the result of abusing some apocalyptic, intergalactic colonial infrastructures.

“Earth is experiencing withdrawal and serious economic and humanitarian destruction as a cause of fossil fuels being depleted,” explained ianmcc06. “Humans are able to travel across time and space to other planets to discover similar sources of energy and in doing so they build colonies. Colonies rely on these umbilical cord-like things for some reason for artificial sustenance but the infrastructure is badly regulated and gets abused (see Mads).”

But what of the more earthly elements, like all those umbilical cord-bearing army vehicles and soldier iconography? Those are still inexplicable, even by Kojima’s standards. Guillermo Del Toro’s character wears a military-like badge bearing the “United Cities of America” logo, labeled Bridges. There’s no consensus from Redditors on whether this is an alternate United States, the name of the organization he works for or something else entirely.

All these unconfirmed theories aside, however, this seems to be something most can agree on:

I have no idea what I just watched, but Kojima is a madman. No one else in the industry like him. #DeathStranding #TheGameAwards

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
