KARACHI (Dunya News*/ AFP) – An implacable brother mercilessly stabbed his 17-year-old sister to death over honour in Karachi, reported on Thursday.

According to details, the incident took place in Mominabad where a ruthless brother Hayat murdered his sister Sumera. The 17-year-old girl continued beseeching the brother for her life but the suspect killed her by stabbing repeatedly.

None of the locals, standing at the spot recording*video*and taking pictures, came forward to take her to the hospital. The victim succumbed to injuries after one and a half hour while Hayat was seen busy with his mobile phone.

Even the murderer's father thinks he did right and the best thing is, He will get free just like the man who killed his mother for honour. This is Pakistan.

Person who killed his sister, their father and people who were making video or watching the scene should be hanged in public or their skin should be peeled off while they are still alive. I seriously hate this law system. Every one knows he killed his sister. Why not shot at sight ? Why there is drama of investigation and all. Shame on our police.

3 things regarding this news

1) Father, younger brother, older brother and Nani all said that what he did was right and should be released and they are fine that she was killed.
Younger brother said If you cant kill your sister for "dishonor" then you are "begairat".

3) People gathered around and recorded the video, instead of even trying to help.

2) Police, for once in their entire existence, did the right thing here :
"We have registered the case on behalf of the state as we don't want to give the family the option of settling the case outside court," he said.

This is the state of society. I cant comprehend wtf is wrong with people like these. This was not in some remote village, this was in Karachi.
Utterly shameful, and the whole family should be put behind bars for supporting a criminal.
(Isnt there some law that if people are supporting a criminal, they too should face some charges?) @Ranger Taffles

Honor killing... in KARACHI?! KARACHI?!

When did we become part of this cult? And as other guys said, the bystanders are as much guilty as the killer himself. What a shame.

Agreed. The bystanders should be charged as well. "Oh someone is getting stabbed! Better take out my smartphone and make a video instead of stopping the *sshole doing the stabbing."

We really don't deserve and shouldn't have smartphones if our first instinct at witnessing such a heinous crime is to record it. I know not everyone wants to get in the way of a psycho wielding a knife, but they could've at least used their smartphones to call for help.

F*cking hell. People watched her bleed for one and a half hour and no one even tried to help her? Even call the ambulance?

I wish someone with the authority takes this matter into hand. I tried my best to get it trended on twitter etc but failed.

The worst thing is, Some people on social media are actually supporting his cruel act as well..

That's the thing right there. When i see people talking shit about government and how thing could change with better govt. i always tell them this country ain't changing.., as long as we have people like these here. You can't get rid of these, this country is like a Abuses will lead to ban mental hospital with critical psychopaths on the loose, hence it won't change ever.

There's not really a definitive answer to this because it could be taken very broadly. It mostly depends on how the state or claimants want to book the charges.

How can you even say that, countries have educated and pulled themselves out of much worst situations. For example witch burning was prevalent in Europe, but now they are where they are due to education.
The same is with us.

Dude centuries has passed after that... :s I dunno what will happen to this piece of land after centuries but i don't think there will be any sort of change until i live. Who is gonna educate these mental psychopaths? The people here don't wanna change, if they don't wanna change you can't force them as i say, "jitni asani doge utna phelenge, khud kch nae karenge"

1 plate biryani ke khatir functions me dog race lagte he jalso me phadda hojata he xDD In logo ko educate karoge ? :D

Again, understand remember that world war didn't happen centuries ago, nor did Malaysia happened centuries ago, nor did japan suffered through 2 nuke centuries ago..All of these things happened only a few decades ago..and without any of the modern connectivity

Smartphones and internet have created a world in which everyone is connected and the rate of penetration is faster than ever before...We can ACTUALLY and in reality make a significant impact in 10-20 years.
What we need is competent govt. and a few dozen honest and hardworking individuals...

Best example : look at the penetration rate of mobile games, facebook, twitter and smartphones...

Imagine if someone big like say, malik riaz (not saying he will or wont, but imagine) took it upon himself to make schools and educate people of Pakistan. You think they cant make a significant impact in around 10 years.
Of course it we can realistically done...

That's the point, i don't think this'll happen. This won't happen. Honest and hardworking individuals? Most of the people studying here including me dream to GET OUT of this country ( people say its wrong, well i don't care.. ). I mean just think about it what do people get by doing things here ? nothing, it's just good will and that is pretty rarely found in individuals after they suffer so much in this country...

The people don't want to learn + the govt. doesn't want them to learn... landlord system is still present here if i ain't wrong

thats pretty much what her brother said, and acted upon after hearing about her affair and such, "i should hang her, no wait i should peel her skin off, nah, rather stab her in public, better of that way" this jazbati bollywood justice mentality has landed us here and sadly it will remain as is for years to come

I disagree. It's not like when Europe civilized and changed for the better, there were any programs for development of schools/institutions being carried out there. The revolution didn't come until the people got their heads straight, on the backs of great men like Voltaire, Locke, Paine, Franklin etc. It was the culture of doubting tradition and authority, disseminated by men such as these that people realized that their outmoded ways won't do anymore.

Now these important men weren't a product of any governmental effort for education. They were revolutionaries. They were dissidents of the government as well as the church. They disbelieved and they disobeyed. I emphasize this only to make it clear that it in Europe, governments transformed because the people did first. It was not the other way round.

Pakistan won't change because even the truly educated of us wait for a Messiah. We think that for the society to improve, the government will have to step up first. We don't want do anything that our government doesn't force us to do. And since a bad government will never force its people to behave themselves, we will never behave ourselves. We won't stop hoping for the day when it forces us to be better than what we are. The day that will never come. Because we put the cart before the horse.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
